Unfortunately, this is the modern way of customer service. I see it all the time. Its nothing to do with meeting the customers needs and everything to do making life easier for the company and saving them money - forcing the customer to do things they'd rather not and never mind the service.WSS said:@InspectorSands is having a chat on Twitter with the ticket office.
They are basically saying that if you go down to the ticket office to buy Bury tickets you'll pay the £2.50 but if you buy the tickets online then walk down to collect them then you won't pay that fee.
Shambles.
Charlton used to be a special club. Now they're just a vicious, money-grabbing enterprise like anybody else.

They also say if its a big match with a large ticket demand, and you decide to queue all night, please bring a sleeping bag or a chair and a big blanket and a flask of coffee or tea1

Oh wow.
Starting to really understand how the awful negotiations for Cousins to QPR went...1 -
I've asked them to confirm that this is the case and whoever is tweeting has now vanished.WSS said:@InspectorSands is having a chat on Twitter with the ticket office.

FFS - I'm actually sat in Charlton Park right now. I would very much like to purchase a match ticket at the football ground down the road, but they are making it as difficult as possible.

"13. The club accepts no liability whatsoever if the seat to which this ticket refers is affected by adverse weather conditions or if the view therefrom is affected by pillars
or other structural apparatus, and the acceptance of this ticket implies full recognition of this condition by the holder."

What a bunch of clueless pricks these people are.2

I sincerely don't have a clue what the rules and procedures are.
Buying train tickets is easier!1 -
There's currently Katrien, Keohane and 15 plebs standing in front of a white board thinking what do we do now.InspectorSands said:

The same sort of blank white board session held shortly after they announced the North Stand Lounge had to be part of a premier North Stand ST two years ago that quickly got ditched
The same sort of white board session held 12 months ago once surprisingly people didn't want to pay £350 just to buy a drink in the Vista lounge.4 -
Quite sad that in a relatively short space of time I've gone from
30 years a STH
Wavering STH
Wont renew but will definitely go as often as I can
Probably won't go

This could be an intereating season. Pure genius to give fans a chance to have a few pints before they get to the ground before they get to the ground and receive the good news the ticket prices are increased. Last years protests are likely to look pretty tame in comparison.0

I'd wager Tony has a laser pointer. He's just that sort of a guy.................AFKABartram said:

So I'm going to get penalised to the tune of £3.00 for turning up on time to watch a football match.
I was going to attend this season but that's it for me. Fuck right off Charlton.18 -
All these sneaky changes will put pressure on the team to achieve.
Imagine going through all this nonsense to get a ticket for Bury, and it's 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, 6-0 all over again.
I told one CAFC staff member this week that travelling fans don't want to be "short-changed" by the team like they were last season.
The response was not encouraging0 -
Most away games in this league we will just simply be able to pay on the day and the current tossers running our club can't do anything about that.0
-
Guarantee you this will cause a few more renewals, though. Which, sadly, is exactly what they want.0
-
And more waverers will consider it the final straw and turn their backs completely.boggzy said:Guarantee you this will cause a few more renewals, though. Which, sadly, is exactly what they want.

Would have thought Katrien,is out off the country now.Holed up in Austria with Chris Parkes and Sue Parkes.
Some people must be pulling hair out that was lost years ago.As for Katrien bet her Phone is RED HOT.
Well Done Roland the family that just keeps on giving.0 -
Yeah hopefully it will at least cancel the others out.mistrollingin said:

That will suit them as mean less work for the ticket office and so the need for less staff so saving a small salary.redsek said:Most away games in this league we will just simply be able to pay on the day and the current tossers running our club can't do anything about that.
What's so wrong about this is that it is all the wrong way around.
Losing money so their solution is to cut costs. Not selling enough tickets so have to save costs as Roland's headcount obsession says cut costs by cutting staff numbers. Same as his 28 players only in the first team rule he wants fewer stewards, fewer ticket office staff etc etc. Shame he doesn't want fewer CEOs.
They though that they would lose 1500 STs based on the last relegation. They were wrong about that. They are desperate to balance the books but are unable to increase income so have to cut costs. But when they do they do it in the most stupid, ill-thought out way without considering the consequences or impact on sales. AFKA mentioned the Vista lounge and the North Stand lounge fiascoes but they have learn't nothing from them.3 -
Congratulations CAFC.
I am now even less likely to attend home games this season.
If I want to go to an away game that is on restricted sale, I'll go into the home end and keep my mouth shut.2 -
No fan could be in favour of this move, surely. It's also curiously very anti-Target 20k and growing the fanbase, as any potential newcomers who think... "I'm not up to much this Saturday? Maybe I'll pop down and watch the local team" are the ones getting stung for an extra £5.50 if they nip over to the ground to try it out. Madness.Henry Irving said:@CAFCTarget20k

I get that it's a user adoption thing, and why bother chucking a bunch of money at an online ticketing system AND staffing a ticket office - and something needs to drive that change (like being out of pocket if you don't follow suit). But still, screw them... £5.50 extra if you turn up at the ground to buy a ticket is borderline criminal.3 -
I'm only the mobile at the moment, busy day at work. There should be a tweet coming from T20K sometime soon on this but in short, no the prices, proposals etc were set by the club.AFKABartram said:@MartinCAFC
Out of interest mate (and in terms of openness and accountability)
1. Were these Target20k proposals you put to the club, or Club proposals?
2. If the later, what was the provided response to the Club?
3. When were the group made aware of this was going to be applied?
Thanks mate0 -
Walk away and release a statement saying that your group cannot function whilst the current SMT are in place and are not listening or engaging with you in a way that meets your objectives and raison d'être to increase crowd numbers.MartinCAFC said:

'Untenable' gets banded around quite a lot, but this is literally a direct move by the club to recoup some money to the detriment of the Target 20k cause which they are supposedly behind?WSS said:

Martin is it an extra £3 after 1pm on matchdays, or £5.50?MartinCAFC said:

This is only ever going to recuse walk up - so with say 6,000 season tickets , can't say there will be more than 1,000/2,000 walk up if prices are going to be changed dramatically like this!
Could also be a two finger salute to those fans who have said they "will pick and choose games"!0 -
Can't we get the local press to run something about this bizarre initiative ? I fail to comprehend the sentiment in penalising walk ups. People who don't know about this madness and there will be a good number will only get caught once. Anyone not knowing their availability to attend until the day of the match will certainly think twice about having to pay £5.50 extra for the privilege of watching us lose again.
I'm stunned by the stupidity.
