Don't comment all that much, but spend far too much time on here. It's big enough for there to be a great range of views and experiences, but close-knit enough to be a real community - perfect.
One small but important thing I like about CL: on a lot of online forums each comment is surrounded by a box with all the information about the poster, the date they joined etc plus a signature, which means you have to ignore a lot of text to read the comment. Here it's much simpler and clearer.
If CL had been ten years older, it's tenth birthday thread would be full of comments like "I never thought we'd be in the Premiership", "When we started, Charlton were bust and going nowhere", "I can't believe how great Charlton's rise has been over the last decade".
Wow! 10 years. Many congratulations to everyone involved. I joined in November 2006 and hadn't realised CL then was still in its infancy. Some impressive facts and figures in the OP. You'd think @Henry Irving would have something better to do with his time :-)
CL has become the primary source for breaking news - not just Charlton related either. Sadly over the past couple of years the discussions have become rancorous and a bit of a turn off. But overall CL is a force for good. Long may it continue.
I've been a member of CL since 2006 I believe. dave2l got me involved and we pretty much failed our ICT gscs because we spent too much time on this forum and didn't do enough work!!
Congrats to everyone involved with the site, from the admins to the lurkers. I find it incredible that despite losing the buzz for the club in recent months I'm as addicted to this site as ever!
(the highlights thread has to be one of the highlights)
Very many congratulations!living in newcastle as I do I find it brings that little bit of charlton up here with me everytime I visit this site (and I do visit it a lot!)Thank you again

As for the MrDick thing, I just imagine people search for the word "Dick" and accidentally end up on his profile...
I joined this site in October 2006, because of this site I met my wife, got married in 2010 & we now have 2 kids - I have instructed the CSA to chase @AFKABartram & @LoOkOuT for maintenance!
Here's to the next 10 chaps & thanks for Charlton Life
£2500 raised for the Greenwich & Bexley Hospice on here through auctions after the passing of @cholland over 3 years ago.
Can't believe it has been three years. Always remembered Colin.
Many thanks to @AFKABartram and @LoOkOuT Joined CL late (2011), having "lurked" for quite some time beforehand. A great site that I spend way too much time on & one that has brought together a huge range of people.
No matter how different we are, football unites us - I can't even say its Charlton as we have a good gathering of other club's fans who pop in...some far more regularly than is healthy for a person not supporting Charlton!! And actually, football doesn't even unite us on any thread that includes reference to Scottish football!!!
All said though, it's a great community that has rallied, helped, comforted and entertained for 10 great years...long may it continue.
Havnt been on here as long as most of you, but one of the fantastic things about CL is the wealth of knowledge that everyone has , and is happy to impart - MOG's situation with his van and tools spring to mind. Also my 'problem' in South Africa . Only this week, I posted a thread re Perthes Disease, and there were posters willing to try to help me. Also, the non-football sports threads are always fun, talking cricket with fellow cricket nuts when England are playing is always fun and something I look forward to, and shows what a really diverse bunch we are. Well done Looky and AFKA,
Well done chaps for 10 years going strong, even if I have only been here for the past 3.
We seriously need some kind of awards thread to commemorate some of the best threads, posts and barneys that have taken place over the years. The snake thread comes to mind...
I didn't really get involved in this kind of forum before I found CL. I'm so glad that was the first, or I probably would never have bothered again. It simply sets a standard of excellence that nothing else comes close to.

Huge thanks AFKA and everyone else :-)
All of this will come back.
Happy birthday.
@afkabartram had approached me about a new type of fanzine.
I introduced them and suggested they combine their ideas into what became Charlton Life.
Like an teenager embarrassed by their parent they don't mention this hence the abuse and theft of the 15 promotes.
CL has been great for raising money for the academy and the museum hence all the posts on the auction threads (64%) but the rest has been shit.
@cardinal sin where is the CL 10 year badge?

I only came on here in 2 009 coz I had a spare ticket for Orient away, and wanted to get rid, ended up with a load of football friends!
thank you both for the entertainment and the sore throat when i shout at the computer screen
here's to the next 10 years
Here's to the next 10 chaps & thanks for Charlton Life
Well done to everyone who has made it happen and to all the contributors that make it a great site.
I'm more of an observer than a contributor but what an incredible 10 years of (mainly) lows but also some good and funny times.
Here's to the next 10 years and let's hope it's a lot more successful on and off the pitch

And, a special mention to Redmidland, for his match threads often, in recent times, being done above and beyond the call of duty.
( it's Palace )
