Happy Brithday Charltonlife and a big thank you to all that created it and keep it alive. As a northern Addick I have always been a bit isolated and the forum enabled me to really keep informed as to what is going on in front of and behind the scenes. Growing up the only info was gained from from gran posting up clippings from the Mercury.
Apart from just reading posts I also managed to meet some other local Addicks including our departed friend Andy - @Bryan_Kynsie, so a big thanks goes to the site for creating an opportunity to make some great friends to share the good, bad and sometimes sad times with.
Order of Top 20 recorded areas of UK usage: London, Dartford, Croydon, Poplar, Brighton, Maidstone, Swanley, Canterbury, Gravesend, Manchester, Newham, Birmingham, Chatham, Norwich, Sheffield, Leeds, Tumbridge Wells, Bristol, Southampton, Basildon
HBD hugs and kisses from Glasgow, which I'm disappointed to see does not feature in the stats despite me logging in almost all day, every day. I must try harder...or find some more Addicks up here.
I signed up straight after the Wycombe debacle which might explain my sometimes less than sunny outlook. This site has brought me closer to, and more recently, kept me close to CAFC through good, bad and plenty of indifferent. I am addicted to the match threads almost as much as going to games.
I've made great friends (at least I think so and hope it is reciprocal) even though I live far away - though nearer than some.
Above all, this site gave me the chance to play at The Valley while raising tons of money for a very worthy cause in Demelza. A lifetime experience.
I struggle to express my gratitude fully to AFKA, Lookie and all (well most of) the rest of you.
China being second in terms of average duration of read has got to be down to @JessieAddick@Stu_of_Kunming and myself whiling away the hours on here over the last few years. Good work, guys.
Happy Birthday CL , ten eventful years, in order that it happened, the forum that gave the chance to play on the sacred turf of The Valley with my son and my grandson and get replaced on the pitch by Weegie who incidently was a far better player, the forum where as The Covered End I spent hours talking b*||*x with anyone else that was equally as pi55ed on the "I'm drunk" until waking one lunchtime and convinced I'd posted something and couldn't remember doing it and changing my "handle" to T.C.E only to find it was Covered End that posted it. The forum that gave me the chance to meet our wonderful Upbeats and visit them at Sparrows Lane. The forum that told me I'd won Masterchef when I thought I was out getting pi55ed, waking the next day to find not only I could cook but I was a feckin champion at it. The forum that instigated a level of fitness in me that enabled me to run 3 half marathons at age 51,52,54. Over the course of 10 years I've been lucky enough to meet some of the fantastic people that make this forum what it is and you draw a image in your mind of what you perceive they are really like and I've never thought, I wouldn't let anyone of them buy me a pint. Ladies and Gentlemen here's to the next 10 years, I'll raise a glass to one and all.
I can't believe people are actually thanking @AFKABartram and @LoOkOuT for creating this life-stealing time-hole. Just think of the cost to the economy of all the hours people have spent on here when they should have been working. Imagine what each of us could have achieved if we'd used the time we've spent on Charlton Life to do something productive instead.
Happy Birthday CL, this site has brought so many friendships that I couldn't live without now, it's been fantastic.
Some great highlights that loads have covered before me, another one to throw in the mix though was that strange feller who came on asking about meeting up with a long lost love in Blackpool or something?! I remember cracking up.
Happy Birthday Charlton Life! Felt like a part of the family right from the start. Always the place I go to if I need a good laugh (usually supplied by @ricky_otto). Here's to another 10! Well done everyone!
Happy birthday CL - community spirit is massively important in life and you guys that run this recognise and facilitate that so maximum respect - i know i often have an opposing view to the majority but I think its good to discuss and challenge. I also stray into WUM territory sometimes for which i apologise - this board deserves better. Keep up the good work and many thanks for all the effort it must take to run this.
A nice example of the helpful nature of this site was when I posted up a request for help with a song from the 60s I was trying to recall & all I could recall was that it featured a kind of horn noise every now & again throughout the song. This resulted in hundreds of guesses - including the right one in about post 12 - but we missed it & the saga went on & on until we figured it out.....was a good excuse to post up lots of good music videos though.
Moved to Canada Feb 2006, Joined CL in Sept 2006 Happy Birthday CL it's been an incredibly entertaining link to Charlton thanks to all posters and the admins - you're the best !
Thank you and congratulations to AFKA, Lookout and everyone else whose contributions make this wonderful site possible. On a personal level I can say that it's helped me immeasurably, without Charlton Life I'd have had the time to complete my PhD, my PPL and run own my own business, so I'd have no excuse for my failures.
Most searched user profile from search engines 1. @_MrDick (4,318 - lol, that’s a hell of a lot of disappointed visitors!!)
Fame at last ....
I actually preferred your old handle Valley McMoist !
On one occasion, I signed in through Twitter and my username changed. Haven't been able to get the ValleyMcMoist username back
My most favourite thread was the one where I reporting live from Bray. Absolutely hammered, couldn't get my words out properly and nearly sliced my @_MrDick in half whilst trying to relieve myself in a beer can on the train back into Dublin.

Another favourite was a complete Orange rinsing of Simon Jordan

I like to think I saw Curb-it on a deserted Cannon St station one afternoon.
Très chic.
You should both be ashamed.

Admittedly I may have more of a life outside of work and Charlton. Or maybe not.
For some reason the full post won't appear, I'll retry later ☹️
Probably right.

This place is an institution and clearly means so much to so many people.
Well done and thank you.......
