Overall thought we did well, looking more like a team, still light in centre midfield though.
Would like to thank the numpty who let of the flares immediately behind me leading to the police thinking it was me and being escorted out, thankfully they listened and let me back in.
Just sell the club Our famous football club We just don't really want you here. We want Roland out, we hate Katerine Meire. We just don't really want you here.

Is that it?
Yeah but just Katrien not Meire.
To the tune of Achy Breaky Heart.
Brilliant support - as people learned the words it just went on getting louder and louder! Also We Want Roland Out and Who's the liar in the scarf?
But also plenty of songs supporting the team too. Really good atmosphere with a great selection of faces.
Pathetic covering up the 'Roland Out' part of the banner after about 20 mins. A lot of lads were questioning the coppers on this.
Excellent win, great for Ajose to get off the mark. Big Josh deserves a goal and hopefully he will get that next week. Great to see Bauer back too. Some of the better teams in this league will drop points at Walsall.
Pretty even game. Walsall had the better chances in the first half and Rudd kept us in it. Bit of magic from Holmes and bang Ajose scores and instantly looks a real threat.
Walsall offered very little in the second half, Solly missd a big chance to put the game to bed straight after half time.
Rudd definitely at fault for their goal. Got two hands to it and it still went in.
Brilliant play from Magennis to set up the winner. Ajose did his best to miss but eventually tapped it home.
Very surpised that we went back to the Bury midfield with Jackson wide left.
Need to add something in the centre. Crofts is improving but I just don't see what Foley brings to the table.
BTW. The police were asked to cover any Roland Out / Anti Regime banners today. Source - police woman at the front. Meire doing her bit for free speech again.
Though they didn't as thankfully there was a very clear and large Roland Out on one of our flags

What the flag that was folded in half by a copper to cover the Roland Out you mean?

apologies didn't notice that, it was all visible when I saw it.
Magennis is a very astute signing. Not only is he a terrific target man and battering ram up front, he also helps us get the best out of Ajose. His flick and spin in behind the defender for our winner perfectly encapsulates that, and although he will undoubtedly be penalised a lot he is a huge improvement on Makienok.
Ajose himself reminds me of BWP in that he won't do anything that he does not consider necessary; he was frequently yelled at to put more pressure on their defence when they had the ball. There was the risk of his lack of goals becoming a monkey on his back, so scoring today should do him the world of good, even if the first one just hit him and it looked like he nearly messed up the second. His first touch was often poor, but as long as he keeps scoring it won't really matter.
There is also a risk of us becoming overly dependant on Holmes. Foley and Crofts are definitely improving (they did a lot of mopping up at the back, particularly when we came under pressure in the second half), but they are at best sideways-minded. Foley's frequent short passes to Holmes reminded me of Alf Ramsey's instructions to Nobby Stiles: "Win the ball and give it to Bobby Charlton". Holmes was excellent again today, but we can't rely on him to create everything.
Rudd probably should have saved their goal, though it was a tricky low shot which bounced. Other than that he was top notch, and roared with delight when he hung on to the ball as it looped up into the air at the end of the game. His name was sung long and loud at the final whistle, and rightly so.
Give Konsa another 10-15 games and it'll look like he's been playing for 10-15 years. He made one or two silly mistakes today, but that's to be expected and it is to his immense credit that he has made the step up to first-team football so smoothly. Let's not compare him with Gomez - he's his own player and looks to have everything it takes to make it at this level, and probably higher.
Once again the fans were excellent, serenading Katrien with 15 minutes' solid Roland Out chants at one point and giving tremendous support to the boys in purple. You can tell that the players really appreciate it, and so does Slade.
We're still a very long way away from being a team capable of challenging for promotion, but after the debacles at Bury and Cheltenham we are at least moving in the right direction. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Just watched the 2nd Goal... Love the build up to it!!
Their Defender confident that they'll win the ball yet Magennis wants it more and sticks his head in to win it and so put the Defender in a bad position, then plays a peach of a ball... Reckon POTY could well be between Magennis and Holmes at this rate, Holmes for obvious reasons yet Magennis because he's a typical Charlton player who'll run, run and run even if it means he only has a small contribution to the game, he wont stop trying to influence it.
During the Euros and during the Qualifiers I could never understand why Northern Ireland kept putting him on ahead of Will Grigg... Now I understand!!
Neither have set the world on fire so far this season and whilst we lost our opening game of the season we've hit form ourselves, reckon Scunthorpe will be the harder of the two matches... If we can come through these two matches with another four points then I'll be delighted

You must be a dodgy looking geezer...;-)
I wouldn't have minded Heather but it was quite clearly the guy behind me with red hands! Talk about caught red handed..... not.
Have to say the WM police were fine, quickly realised they had the wrong man, wish people would grow up though, flares aren't clever, aren't funny, and I now stink!!
First game of season today for me. Impressed with Holmes, Ajose and McGennis. Rudd also decent. Jackson was playing well and think he had a knock, so went off. He seemed to run onto the pitch funny at the start of the second half. Fox has improved. Pearce solid and helped the youngster next to him. Solly usual quality. Foley a bit limited. Crofts steady. Slade's likeable and seems a good fit.
League one really is a drop in quality, but the game still had it's moments of entertainment.
Fans decent, although that smoke bomb went right off near us which was unpleasant, causing everyone around to have a coughing fit.
Had to laugh at one lad who was proudly telling his mate how he'd managed to hug Holmes on the pitch after the first goal and avoided the police afterwards, only for two coppers to then walk up to his seat and take him away right when he'd finished the story. Saw him afterwards back with his mate, so he hopefully just got a telling off.

Seen photo of this at the time. This gives me no enjoyment with winning while Roland is still he.
He has indeed taken this from me,and i long for the day when we see the back of him and his friends.
That first game when he has left The Valley is worth everything to me.

Holmes is going to win POTY by a mile.
Delighted I saw my first away win in almost 2 and half years.
Overall I thought we deserved the win.
Planning something later???

Bolton at home next week and Scunthorpe away the week after (although Scunny will probably be postponed due to our international call ups).
Bristol Rovers ... 3-1 / Fleetwood ... 2-2 / Wimbledon ... 2-1 / Gillingham ... 5-0

Sheffield United ... 1-0 / Wimbledon ... 2-1 / Bristol Rovers ... 2-1 / Fleetwood ... 2-1
