Would have had him instead of Apples if City Football Group hadn't rejected the approach. Trying to keep Oxford in the championship on a shoestring was always going to be tough but I thought him being an ex player and very well liked by the fans would have brought him more time.

Wont be surprised if he goes back to CFG
There's an opening in New York I could see them sliding him straight into. If not I'd expect he's straight on any list Charlie has....
I did a phone in when of the 100 or so calls, text messages and social media comments we received after Oxford were beaten at home by Sheffield Wednesday, a grand total of one called for a change of manager.
I don’t know what AI tool people are using for those Jones images, but after the above news someone needs to ask it to generate one of Charlie Methven with a raised eyebrow, wearing a suit and salmon pink trousers standing in The Valley, considering approaching his fellow Oxford fan Des Buckingham about our managers job.
Gary O’Neil sacked according to The Telegraph. Pretty obvious after yesterday that he’d lost the dressing room
Two games running too where there's been a massive ruckus on the pitch at the end.
Were they fighting amongst themselves yesterday? Couldn’t figure it out from the MotD highlights.
Rayan Ait-Nouri was sent off in the tunnel for a second yellow card after clashing with Wes Burns while Matheus Cunha fought with Ipswich's security, barging into one before ripping his glasses off his face, and striker Liam Delap. (Copied from the bbc report).
Wolves are in talks with Al-Shabab manager Vitor Pereira to replace head coach Gary O'Neil, who was sacked by the club on Sunday.
The Premier League strugglers are looking for a swift appointment and the money they would have to pay as compensation to secure former Porto and Olympiakos boss Pereira, around £800,000, is not believed to be an issue.
Absolutely crazy decision. I could understand it if they were adrift at the bottom but given that you'd expect their aim this season is just to survive, and they are currently 2 places above the relegation places, it seems a very hasty decision given the job he's done there.
Harris, Buckingham, Matty Taylor & Garry O’Neill all leaving their clubs in the space of a few days.
Bristol Rovers just 3 points below us (with a much smaller playing budget)
Russell Martin next?
You can see why teams make changes in mid December. You hope to get a new manager bounce over Christmas, and the new manager can check out his squad before the January window opens.

Certainly seems a bit more logical than us last season, waiting until the end of January to sack the manager, and then appointing a new man in the first week of Feb after the window has closed.
Would be surprised if Russell Martin didn't follow this week. Just don't think his style will ever work in the Prem, will probably walk into another champ job

Russell Martin's style can only work if you have a team capable of playing it. Tonight they have had no Style, fight or spirit.
Last season in the Championship, Soton were very entertaining, but had some real tonkings for a promoted side. They weren't good defensively, and this year against much better attackers, it's been a shambles as Martin won't change his style.

A Portuguese manager, there's a surprise

James Madison makes it 5-0 just before HT.
Was back yesterday. Seen Karanka mentioned on Reddit as an early favourite.
If there was a vacancy I expect him to be a prime candidate.
