Worryingly I put "Joe Read" into google to see who the other JR could be and the images were mainly of @Addickted2TheReds preening himself in arty black and white photos like some modern day gigolo.
Is there something you want to tell us?
Oh, that's embarrassing.
We were all young, good looking , slim models once. Hard to believe but true @Addickted2TheReds

Joe. Km can give you advice on cleaning up Google if you are embarrassed about your past!
What would we have lost by agreeing to meet? I doubt everyone would leave the meeting as besties and KM would still be on tinder; but this all started as a demand for the owners to spell it out in black and white. This could have been that opportunity.
If they had really wanted to have worked with fans etc , then they would have done so in summer!
They're only 'wanting a meeting' because protests are now back underway!
This, this and this. It's absolutely pathetic what they're trying to do. Can't bloody wait for the 15th. Spread the word.
What are you protesting for? They wont suddenly go because you threw a stress ball on the pitch. Last season proved that. CARD shouldn't decline dialogue when its offered, talking to them wouldn't mean the protests are ended or suspended.
CARD just being pigheaded not accepting the invitation. Club clearly trying to create a dialogue and with the appointment of an English manager and his choice of players, to tread a new path. A very disappointing response and a lost opportunity. CARD have ceded the moral high ground with this response and come across as petty, vindictive and self obsessed.

Convenient timing from the club though? And as others have said if they really wanted dialogue they would have waited for a reply before leaking the message to the press.
Jaw jaw is preferable to war war. The tone of some of the posts here suggests that there are people who just want a bit of excitement rather than a resolution of the dreadful situation.

Welcome to the forum, Mr Keohane.
By the way, I've always liked the phrase, "it takes one to know one".

True, now you've pointed that out I've had a rethink and have decided to sit on my arse and do nothing.
It's a good and well written statement and says what it needs to say...BUT Could it not have more weight if it were put across as eloquently and face to face?
Not shouty and ranty but as eloquently as this is written would have so much gravitas - it would be hard to see where the meeting could go if this were the opening response.
I know this is a sweeping generalisation but the Belgians are renowned for being somewhat stubborn and this might just make them "dig in" even more. You can get so much more feeling across in a face to face conversation if transmitted correctly.
You mean like the Trust did in April?
That's as may be but the club have been vocal in stating they are much more receptive to meetings this season as evidenced by the repeated meetings with various fan groups - I'd see this as an opportunity to go for the jugular.
Repeated meetings? T20 & a selected audience pre-match from EKA. She knew the answer to the invitation from card before she hit the send icon. Just a failed attempt to gain the moral high ground. If there is to be meaningful dialogue between the club and supporters groups surly the club needs to demonstrate that it has changed tack before any future meetings. I haven't a clue what the club could do to patch things up, we have dropped too far for instant or quick fixes. Best thing I can think of is leave.

Could this have been a double headed attempt at firstly trying to gain the moral high ground, but also (should the meeting have taken place) as an attempt to find out who the 'leaders' of CARD are?
Card turn up to meeting, club now know who the ring leaders are and now can go about either banning them via an ABC or keeping tabs on them with cahones famous CCTV ops

Tony.
The response is not disappointing, it is consistent. There is no way this club can move forward with this abject, incompetent and deluded regime.
May I remind you of a previous quote from a CARD statement:
"There will be no collaboration, now, or in the future. They are the enemy of everything Charlton was, or will be in the future."
That was the message then, and it is the message now.
The protests continue against (with) Coventry, despite the desperate plea from Katrien and her PR gurus.
Even in the face of that, she couldn't do it properly, as shown by the using of the wrong email address that was meant to be for me.
We shouldn't work with them, because they shouldn't be here.
The only way forward is a Charlton without this regime.

I think it was probably more along the lines of "Oh we'll put this invitation out now so that in 7 months time when we get relegated again we'll be able to say that we tried to communicate".

Clearly they just wanted to stop the protests or at least reduce the numbers. They could have written to CARD months ago.
Can't imagine the club did this without RD's knowledge/assent - may even have been done on his instructions.
Clearly generated by the forthcoming resumption of protests - this time on all four sides of the stadium.
All who can make it should try to attend. Hope the ticket sales send a daily shiver down SMT spines ....
The seemingly impossible happened in 1989 when the first gaps appeared in the Iron Curtain and then the Berlin Wall. Is this the beginning of the end for Checkpoint Charlton ?

I agree It's only 3 or 4 but that's 3 or 4 more than previous seasons.

That's 3 or 4 pointless, sycophantic meetings versus no meetings the previous season.
I would take no meetings as the positive out of those two examples.

Are you a fan of the Belgians?
I'm just a disillusioned supporter like yourself - very distressed by the whole situation who believes that the disengagement between the owners and the more radical elements in the fanbase is driving away a whole section of the support. I who would much prefer dialogue to conflict and for all sides to pull together with a common aim of turning this situation around.

A situation that they have entirely created since they showed up.
Well said CARD. If the regime had wanted real dialogue with the fans and supporter groups, they would have started this in the summer or earlier. This is clearly a PR stunt to try to win over the media in the face of the forthcoming 'Fans United' on Saturday 15th October with our fellow sufferers, Coventry City. She really is so child-like in her actions that it is laughable! Whoever in CARD wrote the response should be raking in more than the expensive PR agency that KM employs. Hats off and a bow to the eloquence of our scribes.

Petty, vindictive and self-obsessed? If you are Tony Big Bollox then was that something that dawned on you when looking in the mirror shaving this morning.
If you're not then I believe that's three of the adjectives I would use when describing Meire (only three of quite a few mind - I have a lot of others).
Just to correct any misconceptions about the meeting with EKA - it wasn't a selected audience. The invitation went out to all EKA members to turn up and we have lots against the regime.
Maidstone and the Weald had a meeting before another match and as Henry has said, Bromley are meeting before the Coventry game.
I'm not an apologist (as you see from my posts) but don't want all EKA members tarred with the same brush!!

So how has the 3-4 meetings with the regime dealt with this disengagement so far?
Correct! 10 points. It's done absolutely nothing.
The regime aren't interested in listening to fans and taking onboard their views. They're only interested in meetings because it means they can claim that they're listening to fans only for them to completely disregard the views.

Absolutely nothing to do with the radical element of the fan base. You are delusional. They've ,or should I say you've had more than enough chances. If you were genuine you'd know that.

Where can I find what she said in her email to card? Did that get posted?
