I'm probably way behind so apologies if it's been posted already but there are now quotes from Slade on Skysports.
"Naturally I am incredibly disappointed to be leaving Charlton Athletic."
"I fully understand that I am operating in a results business but was confident that given the necessary time I would have been able to finish the job I started.
"Despite my disappointment to be leaving, I feel the hard work that my team and I have put in has helped to lay the foundations required for a successful future."
"It's been a difficult period for the club both on and off the pitch and I firmly believe that the club now needs a period of stability in order to help take it back to where it belongs."
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board, players and the staff for their tremendous commitment and support to me during my time at Charlton.
"I wish everyone at the football club, particularly the fans, every success both for the rest of this season and the future."

If he wrote that himself then you can call me Tonya McPlop

Isn't that almost word-for-word what Riga said in May?

So, just wondering, would the likes of Evans or Adkins buy the regime more time or have things gone too far now. For me, it's the latter. The best manager would only serve to paper over the rotting corpse of Meire/RD underneath.
99% rose tinted glasses again. This is another example of getting annoyed with CAFC fans. They hated the football served up. They hated the formations. They hated the subs. They hated negative tactics. They hated everything about the football. Then Slade gets sacked and it's a shame, he was a safe pair of hands, he deserved time. Utter BS. We want to learn - then we should do the same!!!! Slade was wrong. Why wait??? He was right to go. Why wait for relegation and then sack him???
@cambridge When you say "they" are you including yourself as you too are a Charlton? There isn't one view for all fans.
SOME fans wanted him sacked.
SOME fans didn't
MANY fans felt and still feel it doesn't matter as it is the regime not the manager/coach who is the underlying problem.
Not ALL, just SOME, not even 99%. You undermine your point by claiming that 99% of fans said anything similar to what you claim.
The problem, in my personal opinion, isn't about sacking Slade. He wasn't doing well and if they are going to make a change then this is a logical time with the transfer window about to open.
The problem is that only 14 days ago Slade was the herald of the new era according to Meire. Now he has been sacked.
Yet again we have no stability.
Yet again we will have plan.
Yet again the new coach/manager will have a set of players he didn't choose. Some he won't want so they will have to be sold or more likely loaned out to make room/cash for the players he does want.
Those players that joined or stayed because of Slade (Rudd/Lookman) will be more likely to not stay on now unless the new man can convince them this is a stable club that offers them a future.
Just come in to the room after wandering around Malmo all day drinking coffee without a care in the world and then logged in to find out the merry-go-round has been spun yet again. It seems a bit like roulette except even in roulette there's a chance of winning or in Roland's case, getting his money back. Sadly it would appear we're dealing with a compulsive gambler that doesn't care if he loses so long as nobody finds out. Well Roland your number is up and you've been found out to be a crock of shit. Evans. Adkins. Good grief, we can't even get them unless they have no other options. That speaks volumes for how the club is seen inside the world of football.

The management team are not prepared to supply quite that much fabric for free and are looking at the contract for any get-out clauses and loopholes.
They haven't thought that far ahead.
