Am I the only one really unsure where my head is with all this?
I've been quite shocked at the levels of opprobrium heaped on the man, with the excuse being 'he knew was he was getting himself into' or 'he deserves it because he worshipped Duchatelet and Meire'. It's almost been a case of 'I hate Robinson more than you do', or 'I hated Robinson before you hated Robinson'. The man is a (pretty average) football manager, not a child molester. I think we've displayed some of the same mentalities as a lynch mob at times.
Have you joined the ranks of the numerous WUM's on here?
This was always going to be the case with Robinson. Look again at the comments from MK Dons fans at the time of his departure. They reflect what most Addicks say now about him. I disagree that he’s the best manager since Powell left as I’d be amazed if Robinson could get anywhere near in achieving what Riga did in his first spell with us. The football was good for a couple of months but even then typically never for more than about one half of a game. Still incredibly he has a reputation for expansive and attractive football. However, it rarely translates into many goals or more importantly, wins. I pity the next club he manages as the fans will watch the same scenario of him being pally with the players and reading from his book of cliches and excuses unfolds.
If he gets a chance at a club where he gets the backing he (and any manager) requires it'll be interesting to see how he gets on. He'll need to have learned something from his time here, and it's possible he's too stubborn to do that.
Well one more out the door, how very sad and how much of a laughing stock have we become! One person and one person alone is responsible for this and that is RD. He has single handedly managed to take a club from mid-championship status to mid league one status in 4 years. He employed buffoons in his SMT, he had no concept of English football clubs and how they worked BUT the crazy thing and most unforgivable 'trait' was no fucking ambition!! KR now quits, and yes he was like 'marmite' among many of the fan base, I for one quite liked him, he had a passion for the club not seen since Powell's days, yet he was handed a bucket of shite when it came to spending, transfers etc. So RD sees another manager leave and we sit here now with no CEO, no CFO, no manager, Murray staying quiet, fans deserting in droves and the ship heading towards the rocks at a rapid rate of knots. RD continues to play games, it seems, with potential buyers and seems happy to watch as the club lurches and rolls from side to side. I hope KR comes out and tells it like it is once he has gone, he needs to say what really went on behind the scenes. RD needs to finally be exposed for what he has managed to achieve in 4 years. I blame one person and one person only for this mess Dutchelete!!! Its time for the old fool to go, and go now!! Karl I wish you the best whatever pans out, but now is your opportunity to speak out, so come on, lets be hearing from you!!!
I hope KR keeps his month shut for once when he's gone, after all how can you believe anything the man says. I'm sure it will be it was a basket case of a club what could I do. Poor me they lied.
Players had a bad attitude. Fans had a bad attitude It wasn't my fault I didn't have Dele Alli, I told Airbo to be as good but he couldn't do it. 442 doesn't work I tried it for 15 minutes.
Roland was great KM was really great it only fell apart after she left in December.
I loved his enthusiasm and passion for the game but let’s not pretend that these last 20 games and 19 points or whatever it was in this poniest of leagues was anything but an absolute disaster . He had lost the players and had to go and I’m happy to have a charity bet we’ll average at least a point a game from here on in with anyone / no one / Seth’s goat / Roland or whoever managing us .
You'd hope we'd get more than that if he'd lost the players.
Do you reply think his walking away with fuck all.oxford will pay the 2 years left.poor footballers and managers a.I'd like Robinson out with me for 1 night down the sewers covered in shit .get fucking real
Eh? He's breaking his contract. Oxford have to pay Duchatelet @25May98
No offence but that is such a ‘fans answer’. Bowyer could be by far the best manager potential out the three, none of us really know. Yet some fans will happily go with a gut feel based on Euell being a nice guy and Bowyer being a twat as a youngster.
Silly thing to say. Bowyer has far less coaching experience or qualifications than Euell.
Jason has a much stronger CV than either JJ or LB and on that basis would be my choice.
Nothing to do with Bowyer as a player or his actions off the pitch.
Maybe. But I’ve seen numerous posts, tweets and Facebook messages effectively saying ‘happy with JJ or JE, don’t really want Boywer’. That to me isn’t based on coaching experience but just plain sentiment.
With regards to JE, who knows. He’s never really struck me as someone with the character and authority to be a leader. Les Reed also had a fine coaching record but proved he wasn’t a leader.
I’ve no idea whether Bowyer would be any good as a manager, but character profile wise I see him much more suited to being a decision maker rather than someone who carries out someone else’s orders.
Under usual circumstances I’d say it was time for him to go, tactically inept. But as a person I quite liked him, certainly was passionate.
But with the current turmoil and no senior staff I’d have liked him to have stayed until the takeover, as much as I like bowyer and goes without saying Jackson it puts a lot on their inexperienced shoulders.
We were free falling to mid table anyway so I don’t think it will have any negative effect on this season, the overall situation is far more worrying for next season however as there’ll Be no forward planning. Queue relegation battle for 18/19 season or at best another average season.

He is a rubbish manager end of. Rather than the lynch mob scenario you mention I think he has been let of lightly by Charlton fans. Weather he gets proper backing or not if he takes the Oxford job he will never achieve success until he learns to be more flexible with his formations.

Personally I think you’re going OTT to magnify the opposing stand you’ve largely taken. Online views have been largely mixed, up to maybe a fortnight ago when those opposed started to escalate.
My main point though is you are confusing social media commentary with reality. Despite some holding strong anti views for some time, never once has this ever manifested itself during games, in fact I think with the exception of Saturday Robbo’s name has been chanted positively in every home game.
Some have been course in sharing their views, but there’s been no lynch mob.
I spoke with people who were actually there when Robinson was acting like RD arse towel lording it to all and acting like his lap dog , cavorting with the enemy , he was called out as a shite coach by two Belgian national team coaches who were talking with him at the event where RD fired the DJ for not playing his fav tune
He got into this with his eyes open he got found out pretty quickly by them and was found out quick by some on here
His stock as a person is shite within football there’s not many owners or chairman who like him let alone rate him
The end of RD is upon us this is another sign that we are getting closer
Not imminent or done deal so don’t get too excited but KR knows that the new owners don’t want him , jump now into another club before the normal merrygo rd starts in the pre season

I agree with you about Bowyer's character. I see him as determined and self confident but coaches need a lot more than that.
In any case your judgement on coaches is greatly weakened by you thinking Robinson was any good when he arrived. : - )
If it is Bowyer then I only wish him well. I'll want him to be a success just as I did with KR because that means Charlton are a success.
I hope that Lee can be a different voice as otherwise the players will hear just more of the same.
I've felt that Robinson, for all his chat, has a lot of self doubt about his playing career (hence constantly mentioning star player chums) and about his tactics and coaching (hence never wanting to be wrong in public).
I think Bowyer will be much more confident. Will he be able to get inside the player's heads and motivate them? We shall see. Does he need Roland to explain 442? I doubt it but can he change a game with a formation switch or a substitution? We shall see.
Euell knows most of these players, had been coaching for far longer and also had a short spell on the first team coaches bench.
And he was also a successful player in the top flight, thrived at Wimbledon, not an easy environment for weak minded players, and played internationally.
I'd still go for Jones or Jacket long term but for now any of LB, JJ or JE have a chance.
But not being sure about Bowyer is a legitimate stance based on his short coaching career. Nothing to do with McDonald's, weed or fighting.
Am I the only one really unsure where my head is with all this?

It is a bit of a chicken & egg situation. No football manager would ever be successful under Duchatelet due to the lack of ambition & undermining of not building a coherent squad.
Any decent manager (Chris Wilder for eg) knows that & would decline to work for RD.
Robinson was possibly the best manager that Charlton could have got in the circumstances. But that’s not saying much. He pretended ignorance at the start of his time at Charlton about the reason for the protests. Now he knows.
Duchatelet exposes the weak points of a manager. Robinson’s tactical inflexibility & inability to get the best out of his players, blaming others & talking large amounts of horseshit. I wish Robinson no ill will but am glad he is going.

Which is possibly what I said? ‘and it's possible he's too stubborn to do that.’
Charlton fans have been great with Karl. The covered end has sung Robinson’s red and white army consistently through thick and thin. I did a twitter poll just a week ago-ish, and even then it was 55 for Robinson and 45 against. So in contrast to what @AFKABartram has just said, I think people here can sometimes mistake this forum for reality. You’d think from some of the threads and posts that Robinson is the most despised man in football, when the reality is something different.
I basically would have swapped Karl for a different manager in January if it had been an option, so it’s NOT about me being blinkered in my support. I just think some of what has been written on this forum has been OTT and will always leave a bad taste in the mouth. And there has been a herd mentality about some of it.
We’re debating which person with almost no management experience is the best to take over the team. Just step back for a second and think about that... then join whatever protests are on offer this weekend
Think of everything that has gone on in the past. All of the protests, the statements, the hear-say, the chaos, the managers, the football manager boy, the shit players... everything.
Think of all of that.
And then think that now is the moment where we are the most rudderless.
Scary.
Ah, but better than be steered in the wrong direction
For me the faith was lost during the rub of games when we conceded late goals against Oxford, Doncaster and Bradford. We all knew it was coming but KR made poor tactical decisions.
Certainly don't hate the bloke though and wish him well in wherever he goes next (apart from when facing us)

With Robinson leaving, does this mean Oxford can finally make their "Wow!" factor press conference this morning?
