THANK YOU. All of his films are mostly style thickly dolloped over a story of little of any substance. I did enjoy grand Budapest hotel however.
I'll add anything by Tim burton. Trades on the art styles of the 1920s cinema and rebrands it as his own. I know for a fact he just happens to surround himself with talented people (art directors etc) that make him look good. Always comes up with rubbish ideas and stifles decent ones
Exactly. Grand Budapest was the only one where his style didn't piss me off. Everything about The Life Aquatic and especially Darjeeling Ltd really did. And Burton isn't a great storyteller at all. His films are a bit hollow.
re. Easy Rider, I've got no interest in seeing it again but the production of that movie was a pivotal moment in Hollywood history.
Grand Budapest was so symmetric in its style it made me feel nauseous. I bloody hate Wes Anderson films. Critics wet themselves over him but for me it's a case of The Emperors New clothes.
Whiplash of a couple of years ago was simply a 'tough Sergeant with a bunch of rookies' film using music as the vehicle, it said nothing new and i thought was a bit of a con in it's rating.
I'm a drummer and my hands have never bled. Never.

Special mentions to Notting Hill and Love Actually - twee twaddle of the highest order.
Can't agree with those four. You will include Zulu next.
As for Notting Hill etc. Just about anything with Hugh Grant should be included on this thread.
Amazingly Hugh Grant is good in a nice little known British film called 'An Awfully Big Adventure'. The film doesn't qualify for this thread because it wasn't rated previously.

Whiplash gets a kicking from musicians more than anyone else, but it's not supposed to be a documentary. It's not even about the music. To me it's a very well-written, stylishly-shot drama that can do more with a raised eyebrow than Marvel can do with 500 razed buildings.
I can watch the big finish over, I never get bored of it! It's a shame I hate musicals cos La La Land is supposed to be an excellent follow-up from the director.

Different strokes for different folks & all that!

Edict of worms.
Spelling was never a strong point for me.
Predator
Goodfellas
The Deer Hunter

One of the most outrageous thing I have read on here......and that includes the cobblers spouted in the Brexit and Trump threads!!
