  • Watt can't/won't pass, so no. Pretty much all number 10's in the world have the vision to pick a pass, he doesn't.
  • Looks an improvement on Foley.

Holmes getting the ball centrally and running and centre backs would be exciting
  • Cawley reporting this as a loan deal
  • Dempsey is a similar player to Stephens.

Think he found it a bit tough jumping from league 2 to championship at a young age but wouldn't surprise me if he develops into a championship midfielder in a couple of seasons.

Huddersfield payed £300k for him from Carlisle, the rumour is that Kyle Robinson wants a no10 he is one on our shortlist. Katrien bid £100k for them to recall him from Fleetwood and sell to us. Lol

Is he a winger or a full back? This article from the summer describes him as a "tricky winger" so maybe he could also play in addition to Solly in the way Chicksen has been playing ahead of Fox recently

That's what i reckon will happen and Da Silva or Chicksen in front of Page, and when Holmes is fit play in the number 10 role.
Could Tony Watt play in the number 10 role? He likes to drop deep and roam, so doesn't seem like a target man or fox in the box.
Watt can play a bit there's no question of that but I'm not sure he sees an early pass often enough to be a playmaker. He likes to retain possession a bit too long in many cases.

It'll be Croft's role in the team to keep shouting at Watt "pass the f***ing ball!"
All the shouting will tire him out - so he'll fade even quicker.

  • I wonder if Katrien will try and ship Solly to Gillingham again.

There's no truth in that story .................................she said so

Not cut it in the Championship. Good for here and now, but the likes of him and Pearce won't cut it if we have aspirations of competing well in the Championship. HOWEVER, right now we have to try and fight our way out of this shit league, so welcome!

Pearce is probably our best defender. Similar to Morrison but is better at passing. Possibly Slades best signing.
Will not be what we need in the Championship, IMHO.

  • Over the moon if this one comes off. He was one of the best player in league 1 a few years ago and got a move to Wolves which didn't really work out before moving on to Wigan.

There's no way he'd be coming to sit on the bench as cover for Solly. I'd expect him to play on the right wing in a 4-2-3-1. He's very quick and the type of player we should be signing if we're serious about promotion. Fingers crossed it's permanent rather than just a loan.

So say Byrne does play right wing. Can a fit Ricky Holmes play opposite him on the left wing? Or would you expect him to be better as a no.10?
  • To repeat - they are fine for getting us out of this dog shit league, but IF we can get out of it and IF we want to be competitive in the Championship and therefore want to be playing in the Premiership, they aren't good enough at that level.
  • So weve let 3 go and brought 3 in, with possibly one more coming in. That means we are 1 player better off. The squad size issue is a long way from being resolved right now, heres hoping we have another 3 or 4 potentially coming in.
  • if can get him in and 1 more cm in without any going apart from Johnson or Ba think we would have had a good window and Robinson has acted quick and address the obvious issue with have had of lack of energy and pace in the team.

    Cuban heels?

To be honest, all I care about (on the pitch anyway) is getting out of this division!

And it's hard to tell which players will push on and make it at a higher level anyway. Apart from Simon Francis who would have though that Charlie Daniels (who had 4 seasons at Orient before he joined Bournemouth), Steve Cook and Harry Arter would become PL regulars?

You'll be hard pushed to sign players, playing in The Championship, that want to drop to League 1.

    Why would they ?

Get promotion and then you have to build again.
