There definitely is a change in strategy this season, we appear to be buying players who are either proven in this league or have a good pedigree in English football, which compared to 2 or 3 years ago is a huge improvement on players like loic nego etc.
Hopefully the manager can utilise these players coming in now and regardless of how we do this season I hope he keeps his job for next season as stability is a must for us now.

Think he found it a bit tough jumping from league 2 to championship at a young age but wouldn't surprise me if he develops into a championship midfielder in a couple of seasons.

That's what i reckon will happen and Da Silva or Chicksen in front of Page, and when Holmes is fit play in the number 10 role.
Could Tony Watt play in the number 10 role? He likes to drop deep and roam, so doesn't seem like a target man or fox in the box.
Watt can play a bit there's no question of that but I'm not sure he sees an early pass often enough to be a playmaker. He likes to retain possession a bit too long in many cases.
It'll be Croft's role in the team to keep shouting at Watt "pass the f***ing ball!"
All the shouting will tire him out - so he'll fade even quicker.

Over the moon if this one comes off. He was one of the best player in league 1 a few years ago and got a move to Wolves which didn't really work out before moving on to Wigan.
There's no way he'd be coming to sit on the bench as cover for Solly. I'd expect him to play on the right wing in a 4-2-3-1. He's very quick and the type of player we should be signing if we're serious about promotion. Fingers crossed it's permanent rather than just a loan.

So weve let 3 go and brought 3 in, with possibly one more coming in. That means we are 1 player better off. The squad size issue is a long way from being resolved right now, heres hoping we have another 3 or 4 potentially coming in.

In fairness I don't think it's fair to expect any league one club to buy top championship / lower PL players with a view to getting in the premier league. By buying young they have room to improve as we (hopefully) progress up the league.

You'll be hard pushed to sign players, playing in The Championship, that want to drop to League 1.

For me, Pearce is better than Bauer
Bauer is more athletic than Bauer, they complement each other quite well

I'd expect him to play in front of Solly. I'd absolutely love him to sign on a permanent.
However, I thought Ajose from Swindon would be an excellent signing, so there's never any certainty, but Byrne is far more skillful than Ajose.
