Southend v Charlton - Post Match Views

Not for the first or second time this season, we rescue ourselves with a late goal. Though sounded like it was deserved from the bits I heard

Look forward to hearing from those there

    Decent performance considering...
  • Had tickets but decided to give it a miss around 9am this morning.

Sums up how I'm starting to feel about things at our club & very worrying.

Listened via Player & on the whole, it sounded as though a draw was a fair result after we stepped up our game in the 2nd half.

Commentators agreed that young Joe Aribo was their MOM , so RD will no doubt be rubbing his hands in anticipation of a future sale.

Will be at The Valley on Monday to see whether this upsurge in attacking football continues.

Happy with a point. Two whole games unbeaten now.
  • Bowie was an Addick, did you know? The proof's in that song:

    Let's dance,
    Put on your red shoes
  • Really pleased with getting a point against Southend. Never thought I would ever say that.

Thought Aribo and Chicksen were the better players for us, thought Southend were far better first half, vice versa Second half.

Pleased with a point - always like Southend away.

  • Wow! a point.

Mid table League 1, we were a competitive championship side, with our best manager since Alan Curbishley, when these pricks rolled into town.

Lookman and others leaving in the next month to be replaced by God knows what, loan players, more of Rolys 3rd raters?

These criminals have no intention of building a football club, just lurching from one crisis to another until they get bored with their toy.

    F**K off Roland.

    That's the spirit

At the match. . Deserved a point hate to say it but botaka made a big difference when he came on. We had a natural wide player which caused them problems. They are efficient nothing else...in reality should have won.
  • Please with a point gained so late on. Has to be a good feeling, but we are still a long long way from where we want to be. RD out please and a proper set of fans on the new board and things will take a turn for the better.

Absolute pony in the first half. Better in the second, probably a fair result.
  • Leaving aside the regime, it was actually a really good game. They are the form side in the division and we were missing almost a dozen players that would be in the matchday squad if fit, so was expecting a defeat. Their goal was a classy finish by Cox and they had more chances to go two up and probably put the game to bed, but we hung in there. Started the second half well and had a flurry of good chances around mid way through the second period that their keeper stood up to, as well as the crossbar from the excellent young Aribo. Had a feeling that their was another goal in it and so it proved, more superb work by Aribo and a good finish from Crofts. Both goalkeepers were excellent in a game that could easily have finished 3-3. Robinson's subs made an impact, especially KAG, who seems to have some confidence back. An enjoyable day.

Kids and grown ups love him so the happy world of Aribo!
  • Good point proving there is life without lookman
But 2nd half the game was ours for the taking
And a player like lookman on the pitch could have nicked us the 3 points

May I assume the new pro club group will not be speaking for you?
  • Glad to see KR has rediscovered Slade's talent of ensuring a 1-1 draw.
5-1 victories - who needs them.

Although I am pleased with this point from now on draws are simply not going to be good enough.
Millwank have just won three on the trot and are climbing the league.
We now have three home matches on the spin and we must get nine points to stay in contention. It's a tall order but anything less ain't good enough
  • Fuck off with your 4 points at nobody FC , when it mattered to us you melted at the new den you chumps and kickstarted their poxy season , you have a chance to make up for it in a few weeks.

    0% Top two ......... 20% 3rd-6th ......... 40% 7th-12th ......... 40% 13th-20th ......0% relegation

Only if you define good enough as success on the pitch.
  • Best I've seen us play so far - although the latest games at Millwall and Gillingham were not hard to beat. Fairly even start, Southend on top towards end of second half and Took their goal, Phillips kept us in it with two good saves. Second half we were slightly better than them, and three worldy saves from their keeper and the crossbar kept them ahead. Pressure told with our goal. Overall a good enjoyable day and game. Aribo looked very good although faded a bit second half until goal. Ahearne Grant looked more lively than I've seen before. Generally pretty pleased with the team today. Could do with some more creativity in midfield as everyone has mentioned all season.
Happy New Year all lifers !

Awful first half. Phillips kept us in it. Aribo by far our best player. Probably deserved a point overall despite Southend looking better than us. If we're to make the playoffs there's a lot of changes need to be made.
  • Good performance second half and could have nicked it

Would have taken a point beforehand so quite happy with that

Good support from us as well

A point at Southend is a good result. With three home matches coming and a rest after the first one, it's not unreasonable to hope we might pick up seven from nine?

Let me guess what game we'll drop those points in.........

Also the people who booed fox after he made a mistake and then when he went off are an absolute joke. He's awful but I feel sorry for the kid
