Great result. The play offs are beginning to feel as though they are within our grasp. The play offs though are a clever invention that thrive on fans' hope. We only have a 1 in 4 chance (give or take) of going up that way if we even get that far. Results like the defeat at Swindon and other disjointed efforts are still likely to ruin this season. I hope I'm wrong.0

Still got a bit of a buzz this morning after yesterday's successful visit to Bolton. I've read a few comments on here and elsewhere that this is a corner turned and I don't want to be a killjoy but just want to put things into perspective.
Due to the sending off we had to defend, contain and take the chances that came our way and this we did with aplomb and every player deserves credit for their contribution to the cause. This was however two banks of four behind the ball and not an indication that 4-2-3-1 is the best thing since sliced bread.
It is a different kettle of fish however at home having to take the game to the opposition who will be doing to us what we did to Bolton but with 11 men and the acid test comes next week at home to Fleetwood. The crowd will need to be patient If things are not going well, winning is all important not the style in which it is achieved.
The new signings and young home growns on yesterday's showing offer reasonable hope with their pace energy and freshness but its still very early days in the KR term of office. The loss of Magennis is a massive blow as Novak disappointed for the short spell he was on yesterday. He didn't hold the ball up or take players on like Watt had been doing.
So if we can get one more signing, preferably a target man, a winning home run until the end of the season, the dream of a play off spot might, just might, turn into reality. COYRs12 -

Great post @RedChaser . Yesterday was a fantastic performance and result to shut out promotion chasing Bolton. Next week though, it will be 'promotion chasing' Charlton who have to pick the lock while keeping the defence tight. I'm buzzing this morning after yesterdays heroics, but we have had a few dawn lately, all of them false. Happy, yes, but also circumspect.5

19 games to go and i reckon we've got to win about 12 of them to reach the playoffs.
It's a big ask but not impossible, If we beat Fleetwood next week the valley will be buzzing and people will start believing.
If you are reading this Roland if we reach the playoffs it will be in spite of you not because of you.

Agreed Ken, we've got three tough away games coming up after Fleetwood at Rochdale (I hope to continue my unbeaten away run there
) followed by The Wombles (at their oppressive non league ground) and then Oldham (a back of beyond horrible unwelcoming place to go on a Tuesday night in February); the scene of another smash and grab 1-0 with 9 men in 2012.
Three points from those three games won't be a disaster IF we win our next three home games because the target has to be an average of 2 points per game until May, so that's how crucial the home form now is.1 -

afterthought .. I love Josh Magennis, a real 100%er whose had a decent start to his CAFC career and long may it last ..
However, I don't think we would have won yesterday if JM has started .. after the dismissal, it would have been too easy and too tempting to simply pump long balls upfield for Josh to run into blind alleys and to get the occasional knockdown to nobody up in support ..
Instead, we were playing balls to feet allowing Watt, Aribo and Chicksen to run at pace at the Bolton defence and midfield unsettling them as they were expecting lots of time and space to attack us at their leisure .. it never happened
Hopefully before the end of the season, we will see Watt and Magennis playing up front together, terrorising oppo defences ..
in the meantime we must keep this momentum going especially for the next few games against Fleetwood, this year's Burton, iconsistent Rochdale and Oldham who are scrapping against relegation

You could quite clearly see and hear that they were (throughout the game as a matter of fact) and I was sitting on the other side of the ground.

A huge 3 points, in context of the league it's clawed back 3 of the 9 points we were adrift by yesterday morning. The last time 3 points felt so vital was actually this time last year when we won up at Rotherham which gave similar hope about avoiding relegation and then we lost at home to Bristol City the next week in another six pointer.
Our home form as others have said is what will make or break our play off push, we simply have to keep winning at home now. I don't even particularly rate the teams in the play offs and think even the likes of Southend and Fleetwood are very beatable at home while we've got the likes of Oldham, Shrewsbury, Coventry, Chesterfield to play away, all of whom were absolute dog turd at The Valley and if they've not got any better are very much winnable games as well.
The potential is there for the team to put an immense run together, I remain unconvinced Fleetwood, Bradford and Rochdale have sewn up play off places yet although I will concede the top three Scunny, Sheff Utd and Bolton will all finish above us barring a real collapse in form. But the key word is potential, we need Magennis back for this to happen and no more bad injuries.3 -
