I do not want to create a new thread si I am attaching here. I was at yesterday's game, I am selective now. I have attended for over 50 years. A sort of "light bulb" moment occurred. I love Charlton. I first worshipped Stuart Leary then it became The teams of Len Glover, Matt Tees, Keith Peacock, les Berry, Derek Hales, Robert Lee, JOHN Humphrey, Chris Powell etc. Simply the boys in red were not the originals I saw but I fanatically supported them. I do not not feel the same about " this" Charlton. I have no enthusiasm, it is not personal to the players, it is the whole club. I sat in my usual seat. 3 new people were in the row. They went out 6, yes 6 times ( sorry if it was a medical reason) coming back with chips, coke or comfort visits. It was impossible for them to follow or have interest in the match. But and this is the issue, it's what the deluded KM and RD want. Let me advise you regime- this visitor to the club is unstainable. This model is unsustainable. The new people you are attracting ( and there are not many) will quickly loose interest. I want the Charlton back that I fanatically support. All of us- do not give up the protests. RD and Meire you must go.
Is anyone able to work out the last time there was no Player of the Year Do. Can't think of single season this had happened in the previous 35 seasons past.
Great credit to the organisers for telling the club where to go.
I think Fanny should leg it on the pitch before the last game to hand the trophy to the winner.
(Or a willing alternative) ?
There must be a way to present the trophy that would shame Meire ? Ideas on a postcard.
Unlikely I guess but could always get in touch with the BBC /ITV journalists who came to Belgium and see if they had any interest in a short news slot of fans giving a player the POTY award on TV due to the fact the club has cancelled the event?
The term over-reaction doesn't do this justice. It's incredibly petty.
How someone can have a tantrum which results in the cancellation of a fan-run tradition - especially when that person is supposed to be building bridges with fans rather than building obstacles.
Coming over to the dark side Swis?
Always have been and always will be a fan of Charlton. All I have ever wanted is for the club to move forwards regardless of the owners but this regime cannot help but fuck things up.
. This development goes against the fans and is disgraceful. Once all the facts come out I suspect this will cause a huge shitstorm - provided the content of the email doesn't give the club any grounds to act as they have

but the club haven't cancelled the event. This is why any involving of the press has got to have the correct information.

True, but their actions have so press would still buy into it. Fair point about the email.
Given that @Fanny Fanackapan is the current fan of the year I'd say it's yet another own goal by de Cloob.
If the thing we all hope is currently happening doesn't happen then they'll go ahead and do their own thing, Commerford and his bunch of fools will be there.
@killerjerrylee do you have the trophy? As that doesn't belong to the club.
Its so very sad @killerjerrylee has been pushed to make this decision, Ian and Jean are exactly the sort of supporters that make football clubs special. They work so hard, seeking no recognition and in their own time for all of us to make events like the POTY happen and get treated like this.
I can only put the CEO's strop down to it being one of the few things left she can actually influence and agree that her actions are petty, spiteful and self defeating.
Although many of us are very angry about this latest sad episode caused by of our interim owners, just pause to consider these two facts:
The CEO of our football club is clearly putting a lot of her efforts how a supporters led, end of season function is run. Really? Where else would this happen, she is CEO not entertainments officer.
Secondly, as a result, the current 'supporter of the year' is not allowed to attend the event where her award is given out.
It just all beggers belief but welcome to Charlton Athletic in 2017. Well done Ian for sticking to your principles on this and shame on the club for once again interfering.
Unbelievable that the club should hold a grudge against Fanny for a single email given that we're expected to move on from all of their mistakes.
Amazing unity from you guys towards Fanny, standing as one is the greatest response. If the club wish to be this pathetic and try to organise something themselves then it will clearly be boycotted.
I honestly believe this is a directive from the useless one! No doubt she'll be happy to give away free tickets to cover up her mistake.
Roll on the day when these morons leave our great club.
"With only one exception" name and shame the collaborators - we need to identify them for future reference.
East Kent Addicks.
Can't say I'm surprised
I presume true Addicks supporters in East Kent are now organising to remove the cuckoos from the nest at the earliest opportunity.
The AGM is on Thursday 23rd March where the committee will be re-standing for election and so members can agree with the motion or make a point to say they shouldn't be elected back on.
I'm not getting involved (again) until the regime have gone.
Firstly, a massive thank you to @killerjerrylee for staying resolute and loyal to Jean. I'm sure 99% of true Charlton fans fully support the stand you have ridiculously been boxed into a corner and forced to make.
This will stem from two things; firstly the club wanting to get control of this event after being spectacularly knocked back when they tried last year, and secondly, an opportunity that take forward a spiteful and vindictive approach to Jean simply because she is someone who has made her feelings clear previously on the regime's failures.
These people have come into our club and within the space of a few years ripped out its foundations and completely dismantled the club. Individuals who have worked from the club, volunteered for the benefit of the club, or simply supported the club for decades have walked away under this stewardship. And that lot don't care a jot as they are so insular and caught up with 'beating' those they see as against them, they haven't a clue or a moments thought in considering what what is actually best for the club.
Jean is someone who must have put 30 years service into things that aid and benefit the club or fellow supporters; organising and running a supporters group, representing at fans forums, organising player of the year, maintaining the memorial garden at the Training Ground. All the way down to scraping shit off the seats at The Valley in summer so the club didn't have to pay out for cleaners.
But what most resonates most for us average Joes with 'people like Jean' is not really the above, it's more the 3am posts after a midweek away defeat, searching for a positive. increasingly strugglng to find one, bit still searching for it.
Whilst Meire and co have been here for two minutes and don't give a damn, we all know 'people like Jean' who have been doing these 3am away day returns when we've taken 200 away, or given up their Matchday to collect votes, or given up their midweek evening for some supporters committee organising meeting.
And we know they do care.
When this mob go there is going to need to be a massive effort to rebuild what actually was not that long ago good about it. Until then, the supporters more than ever needs to stand resolute and unified against it.
Sad times. Here's hoping more than anything the increased speculation he is seeking to sell will deliver something positive
From what I've heard the email doesn't amount to anything that would do any more than make people on here laugh and nod in agreement. It's the club that would be more embarrassed if it came out this is what they were complaining about rather than the author.
Exactly. The club know all fans would be laughing in agreement with Fanny's comment not horrified, and that's what they are scared of. As well as knowing how popular something organized by "mere fans" really is.
Absolutely the right decision taken. Never have I known an organisation to readily alienate its customer/fan base as this mob. Learnt from our mistakes ? I think not. From the woman who, on national radio, used the word "war", I guess it's not surprising. An incompetent, narcissistic woman who is completely out of her depth. I hope this makes the media.

I believe there wasn't a POTY I never 1972, this was voted on a few years back. Keith Peacock got the vote.
Fingers crossed this may be a momentary absence on an exemplary attendance record and we all come together again next year and do it justice once again.

Ahh...that's a shame if true. I was hoping Fanny had compiled a multiple page, expletive filled, insulting rant of proportions not seen outside of a Malcolm Tucker briefing.

Has the fact that the POTY event has been totally Meired just given CARD more ammunition?
Great post, thank you for articulating what many of us would like to say. To land at our club and effectively trash people who are so devoted is a very bitter pill to swallow from somebody who holidayed in Dubai as we were getting relegated.
I was told by someone (who shall remain nameless) that the two reasons that Jean is not allowed to be associated with it are that she wrote a nasty letter to Katrien and as she's not part of the Fans Forum anymore she's not entitled to help run it.
At the time I thought those comments were ridiculous and based in bitterness / told lies from someone within the club.

When they took it over the POTY was loss making in large part because so many people got free tickets.
They changed that and said "everyone pays including us".
That's right Ian and Jean pay for their own tickets to the event they organise.
But Meire is unhappy that Jean is so publicly critical of the regime and this is her childish, spiteful way of getting back at her.
Meire doesnt care about the POTY she just has to "win" even if that means no event and everyone including the club losing.
Pathetic.
Never have I known an organisation to readily alienate its customer/fan base as this mob.
