If KM can't act rationally and for the optimum end results when dealing with such a trivial event, can you imagine what she's like when she's trying to negotiate signing fees and contracts with hard-nosed, experienced negotiators? Is it a coincidence that we never seem to land our targets or that we get stuck with players who are useless on ridiculous contracts?
In any event, how can it be disrespectful when it's true (although I appreciate that the truth can sometimes hurt).
What seems apparent is that Meire was looking for an excuse to make this a club-run event and the email gave her that. It's fairly pathetic that she resorts to this but are we really surprised?
Yet another example of the disrespect these two useless Belgians show towards this Club and its supporters. How about a POTY picnic on a Sunday at Danson Park ? If we could organise it with the relevant people I'm sure that there would be a number of sponsors who would help with finance, and it could become a great family day out into the future. Great opportunity for local businesses to exploit what I'm sure would attract a considerable crowd, which would include a lot of youngsters, potential new supporters or even academy prospects.
Jean, you are probably in the same boat that Peter Varney found himself in when our esteemed CEO blatantly lied about the takeover he was attempting to broker. He was advised that he had no grounds to take legal action as the reaction from fans only enhanced his reputation and damaged theirs.
Just think of it as another nail in the coffin for this naïve and dim-witted regime.

I don't think the club have the resources or the inclination to arrange the event though. They obviously wanted to 'control' it all the while doing nothing to help organise it.
Maybe in this age of millionaire footballers of different nationalities (even in the third division) the idea that the players turn up to mingle with fans, and help celebrate the fans favorite of that season, is becoming a bit outdated. I do wonder which of the players would choose to attend if it was optional.
That said I am also wondering which of the players are even turning up for games just at the minute.
In any event the club should not be able to dictate which fans are allowed to be involved in this event and I agree one hundred percent with the decision taken by Fanny and killerjerrylee to cancel it. In all honesty it is difficult to choose a winner worth of the trophy, that some of the clubs legends have won over the years, this season.

Sure, they've always attacked the protesters as a group, but telling an individual - and her peers in a forum - that she specifically isn't allowed to engage with the club because she has an opinion on how they run things is disgraceful even for these clowns.

In the clubs defence, I didn't get banned after my appearance in SE9. Although I have appealed against their decision.
Firstly, I would like to commiserate with the hard working and sincere few who have put such great efforts into the POTY events over the years and remained willing so to do. To have your efforts and sincerity undermined by such a discredited party must be disheartening. It cannot reflect poorly on you. As others have mentioned: criticism, overt or implied, from KM does nothing to denigrate the criticised as she herself has no credibility.
Short of relentless excellence over the remaining fixtures, of a standard hitherto not shown by any player, there can be only one candidate for the 16/17 POTY accolade. He has already been sold by the club so can't be further manipulated by it. If he is willing to receive the fans' award, all well and good. If not, there can be no shame in suspending it until this regime is replaced and a workable relationship can be fostered between we fans and the future stewards of the club, should they prove worthy.
It will be fascinating to know what the expensively appointed PR 'expert' makes of this latest new depth to which KM and cronies have sunk. I'll read de cloob's official pronouncement with interest.

My advice, for what it is worth is to use incidents like this to strengthen resolve amongst the fans. I’d also say that you should never underestimate the depths your lot can sink to. I don’t see them as necessarily vindictive (like starting to sue fans ala our lot) but more clumsy and out of their depth. Keep the faith

They have taken legal action against some fans... not sueing them but have reported some to the police for comments that were clearly made in jest.

I've never met you - but then I've never met KM either. I know which one of you I trust. If the clowns in charge and the SMT had one ounce of your loyalty, commitment and enthusiasm for Charlton, then the club wouldn't currently be in the sad state it is.
You and @rikofold (and the others who've previously given their time to this event) do the club proud - it's so sad the same can't be said for Meire and her cohorts.

It's often said that Meire is out of her depth, and that she is incompetent. It is also argued that she should be nowhere near a CEO position, let alone one at a professional football club.
Now, if the last few years haven't underlined why the above is entirely acurate, then her reaction to this single email does.
Lots of lovely ideas on here - but no thought being given to the TIME it takes to organise something of this nature, as well as the effort! Ask those who have organised a big event such as a wedding - it takes months of preparation, not weeks.
For this reason alone, I would be surprised if the club go ahead with anything - or maybe just a small told-you-so event. Something akin to the Christmas party for the children, maybe? No bother to add the cost of a new trophy to the club's debt (the PotY trophy belongs to the fans) after all!
