@JamesSeed, I can't help but think that if you'd not made an issue of it, @shirty5's comment would probably have been lost to most of us; just another one of 37,000 comments on this thread. Instead something that would have passed most of us by (something and nothing in my opinion, but obviously not yours) has just become the major issue on the site this morning and everyone's attention has been drawn to it. And yes, calling people numbskulls is not acceptable.
I'd like to make two suggestions: 1. If you want something deleted then please pm me and/or the other mods. To use Big Rob's phrase, we'll look into it. In this case I don't think I'd have personally done anything, because I genuinely don't see why it's an issue and it's already elsewhere in the public domain anyway. But ultimately, you only have to convince one mod and you may have had more luck with one of the others. 2. If you, @shirty5, @ElfsborgAddick or anyone else can't see eye to eye, can I suggest that you ignore each other rather than getting into petty squabbles*. Frankly, I've got better things to do with my bank holiday than try to manage other people's arguments.
Thank you.
*[Edit - please note, I am not accusing Shirty or Elfs of squabbling, apologies if my initial wording led anybody to think that]
The behaviour of members of this forum is becoming as pathetic as the ownership and management of Charlton Athletic Football Club.
Anyone have the analytics on forum user drop off over the past 12 months?
I fear the constant in-fighting amongst fellow Charlton Fans & Supporters is sure to have negative blow back on here.
no more deviation or contributor-focus please, its being liaised privately.
Lets just have a run at focusing on topic please. thanks
There's nothing you can know that isn't known Nothing you can see that isn't shown There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be It's easy...
Does anyone else think that, as the EFL go to so many lengths to ensure the buyers are checked in the first place, they should also keep tabs on clubs and pay special attention to those that don't have hardly any senior back office management and no permanent football manager / assistant manager?
I woulda thought that when an owner starts to show signs of neglect or strange behaviour, they should be asked to come before the EFL to reassure them the Club is still in safe hands and maybe provide a plan going forward.
What is happening now is obvioudly ludicrous and makes the fit and proper person test seem a complete waste of time imo, considering RD only passed it under 4 years ago.

Now you're talking.
That's the issue. Currently the EFL do not consider that their remit in any way allows them to oversee how a club is actually run, so long as it fulfils its fixtures. As such, officially at least, they do not need to give a toss about our concerns. The current ODT is designed simply to say "we vetted them, and they had the money. We cannot force them to spend it, or spend it in a certain way"
That is what we have to change. That is a huge change. We will never do this alone, which is why it is important to partner with other clubs' fan groups. And I am afraid that this change is needed across football (i.e the FAPL and the FA too). Personally I think only a regulator with real teeth can sort this shit out, and that will require political force to make it happen, as you run up (even within the EFL) against huge amounts of privately retained money.
We are at the heart of the fight for the soul of English football. Not for the faint-hearted. But we are Charlton.

On the Bitsize thread it states: “Following an exchange with @JamesSeed Gerard Murphy from the Aussie Consortium warns of ‘a difficult two weeks ahead’, but also that ‘it’ll all be worthwhile’”
What he actually said was slightly different:
“There may be a couple of difficult weeks ahead but it will be all worth while when it is completed.” (When the sale is completed, not the two weeks).
I know this ‘statement‘ caused anger when the sale didn’t happen two week after it was posted. Hopefully you’ll agree that the actual words used make it less date specific.
In future I’ll keep messages like that to myself to avoid raising expectations unnecessarily.

one slight correction from of the latest summary it makes it look as though LdV (I assume at the FF) agreed there were three groups that had completed DD but this is not the case as I understood it, he agreed 2, another group did an initial DD but then baulked..
Edit: Although I note the Daily Mail is mentioned/credited, this was not the impression given at the FF

So, you're saying that "a difficult two weeks ahead" and "it'll all be worthwhile"
is materially different from
"a couple of difficult weeks ahead" and "it will be all worth while"?

Because they seem very, very similar to me.
"i am playing all the right notes not necessarily in the same order"

Which is slightly depressing if you hoped it would happen before the start of the season, but positive if you thought it wouldn’t happen this season at all, or they were pulling out.
I’m sure he’d want to apologise for not being able to share any proper details, but if you start breaking NDAs you immediately lose all business credibility.
[*turns off phone, dives for cover*]
PS 16/1 is poor value.
It might've been what he said, but that weren't what was reported and we can only go by what was reported

Could just relay them accurately?
It’s only a tiny difference as @chizz has said, (but add ‘when it is completed’) but it could be interpreted slightly differently. My mistake.

Millwall fans sing the following song on a regular basis:
No one likes us No one likes us
No one likes us we don't care
No one likes us No one likes us
No one likes us we don't care

the next significant number for numerology is 1248 so look out for good news when that hits but good vibes only

On the subject of Topics, I prefer Mars over those and (Marathon) Snickers bars.
I do miss a good lion bar though.
