    An interesting and surprising move.

Interesting, possibly RD & RM resigning - but need at least 1 director

Head of recruitment so makes sense to be a director.

Thread just taking a breather before the next big news story.
    As I was saying

Word on the street for last couple of weeks has been that De Turck, who hasn't been seen at the Valley since May, was being replaced with a new CEO.

Duchatelet's total abdication continues it seems.

Gallen has been de facto director of football and fulfilling at least part of the CEO role for some time now but hope he isn't expected to take in the administration of the while club.

Interesting appointment. Why now? I looked at companies house and there has been a couple of confirmation "for filing purposes" in the last few weeks. Has RD taken a knock to his head and realized the club has to be run correctly. It is obvious he trusts Bowyer, Gallen and Co. It still seems very very odd that RD had turned down a bid from Brentford for £4.5 mill for Taylor. Or it might be that Jeavons at EFL has looked at us and recommended to Roland that we need to have a CEO in place.

Interesting as to what the other 1/2 confirmation filing reports on Companies House mean.

The last one that has the confirmation filing reports was in 2017.

Maybe RM has resigned and  SG is replacing him?

    RM paid off??

Not if it significantly diverts Gallen's focus from recruitment though.

If he's as good as finding owners as he is at finding players we could be well sorted!

Do we need to dust off the IT'S HAPPENING gif?

Quite a vote of confidence in Steve to elevate him to board level, though his title is given as Head of Recruitment rather than anything wider

I wonder, does that put Gallen ahead of driesen in terms of approving incoming players for the club (assuming they still run these things by little tommy!)...but does this appointment have any relevance to sale negotiations?
Until now, with 2 directors, and with the Chairman traditionally having a casting vote, RD essentially controlled every board decision.  With 3 directors it is possible for a dissenting voice to have influence if backed up by another director.  Wonder if Murray would side with Gallen or RD????

Gallen let it be known, in a matter of fact way, that Driesen had a role in approving transfers, perhaps he made it clear to RD that he would not put up with this anymore and wanted his authority to be formalised.   With any luck Driesen will slowly become an irrelevance for the owner as confidence in Gallen's own team is cemented.

A new owner would be able to construct his own board so unlikely the appointment is related to any sale.

Driesen HAS been an irrelevance for a while now. Maybe he has a token rubber stamp role in approving certain transfers, but on manic days like transfer deadline day no way would be be getting involved in every loan

And if Driesen is true and certain failed transfers were against his advice, e.g. Lepoint, that suggests that even a few years ago his role wasn't that powerful

Perhaps a part of the reason for the delay in the Tomer transfer and a stipulation the EFL made...purely guesswork on my part.

It's a deserved honour for Steve Gallen who is a great guy and a great scout.

He is also a good foil for Bowyer.

And he's sharp enough to play politics when he needs to. The "Driesen still approves transfers" comment and his other comment, also at the fans forum, playing down Bowyer's frustrated comments to the SLP after no money was provided to replace Grant, show he can operate at a senior level with sharks.

At least Bromley Addicks can return to our traditional end of season meeting with a director @Tracey

Is there any significance to read into this Henry? Other than a role he deserve? Did he do this for QPR once, and was it a temp role for QPR?

I cannot help but think our start to the season and general Bowyer, Jackson, Gallen factor has lead the mad Belgian to open his eyes to the promise land.  He fancies the premier league pay day, and is doing, in his mind, his own version of backing the club.

In the very likely event we don’t get promoted you can see him pulling the plug again and we go back to where we started come next July.  But let’s see what happens, this season could be exciting at least.
