  • There were plenty of Charlton tops and shorts being worn by the runners at Sutcliffe parkrun yesterday. It was one of those where you feel like you are on for a really quick time but when you get the text somehow you didn't get the quick time. :(

My half race day approaching too soon for my liking. I've just run my first ten miler since I don't know when at 10.21 a mile, so just another park run to add on to that and I'll be fine 😟 Seriously doubting why I'm putting myself through this. No fun at all at the moment. Just hard slog.

You sound like I feel !  So far I've managed to resist any suggestions I try a distance beyond parkrun.  I can do 5k with no problems.  On my midweek run I do anything between 5k and 8.5k, depending on the weather and how I feel at the time.  No pressure, no slog, just for enjoyment (sort of).

Chelmsford particularly slippy today, but I invested in some trail shoes and it was like I was on rails, best money spent in a while.

Shorne was as wet and slippery as I’ve seen it.

My local (The Plens) was back today after a 15 week hiatus due to groundworks, albeit on a temporary route until they finish them. It  proved no easier than the proper one, being just as muddy. My ''P' index upped to 8 now though, chasing my target  of 10.

  • Been laid up with a cold, so no parkrun for me today. But making plans for Woodbank parkrun, Stockport, in a couple of weeks...
  • Brentwood was very muddy indeed. My slowest time EVER!! Slipping and sliding all the way round. Definitely going to go back in the summer to run it again.  Beautiful country park.

Get well soon.  I am going Stockport, no parkrun for me that day.  I will be on the shandies early doors.

Did my first run in a while yesterday due to a stress fracture in my tibia. Problem is I'm supposed to be training for the London Marathon so timing of the injury has been rubbish. Just hoping I can get enough miles in my legs without overdoing it and causing a relapse!

I had a similar thing last year as I had knee surgery the first week in jan. I couldn’t run again for 4 weeks. I just about got the training in but my advice would be to roll it over to next year if you can’t get the training in.

Toss up between Corby and The Plens, both soft going at the moment. Chose The Plens again so I didn't have to drive.

All set for the Kettering half next Sunday! 😉

I did Clair in Haywards Heath this morning.  Felt knackered after but finished with a smile.

Interesting. Does this mean they’ve managed to get permission for one in Greenwich Park?

I did foggy Finsbury Park yesterday as I wanted somewhere firm underfoot, tired of bogs lately

No - Royal Parks aren't interested, as far as I can gather.

There *may* be one coming on the peninsula, but that's dependent on finding volunteers who are up for taking charge of it.

Ran the Dartford half this morning. Super cold at the start and thought there was something in my shoe around a mile it. Stopped, took it off and checked to discover what I was feeling was the return of sensation to my feet.

Was an enjoyable if tough course and I nearly got taken out by a stealth bollard at around 11 miles. Got round in about 1hr46

Woodbank parkrun, Stockport! Lovely park, lovely people, good views and a beast of a hill. Just glad I got round.

Now I have a football match to go to…

Kettering half completed in glorious weather. Flew through the first 10 🤣 and ended up near a pacer I shouldn't have seen for dust, so I afforded myself the luxury of slowing to a fast walk for miles 11 and 12 to finish the last mile and a bit strongly with a mostly downhill run.  Chip time 2.11.47. Was hoping for sub 2.15 so well pleased, but never again. 10k max from now on.
