DRS is fundamentally flawed. The whole idea of the system is that it should get rid of wrong decisions & although I realise that major howlers are now generally avoided I believe that it shouldn't be down to the players to decide what decisions are reviewed. This has been my beef with DRS all along. It is now getting silly - nicks are going un-noticed & then players are reviewing plain "out" decisions just because they have a review left and they are the last man in. That is not what the reviews are there for. Perhaps the 3rd umpire should review all decisions (and a lot are obvious like bowled or caught so a lot may not need to be) but seeing as the 2 umpires in the field are the ones that naturally give players out, then why are players now becoming a 3rd umpire ??

Turns out the ball hit Malan's pad outside the line of the stumps as well. Double umpiring cock up.

    307-6

Ali gone for 20 from 14 balls. No prizes for guessing who got him out.

Literally could have hit that long-hop anywhere for fuck's sake
  • Goodbye to Ali for the last Test, utterly embarrassing batting.

Awful shot from Bairstow as well, he has one score from seven innings in the series.

Batted like a maniac. Lucky his 6 wasn't caught.

Smith puts down Cook again! Once more though, would have been a screamer

Woakes out for a respectable 26. Caught behind by Payn trying a hook shot bowled by Pat Cummins. 366/7 Curran gets hit hard on his first ever test delivery much to Aussie delight.

Let’s be honest, have any of England’s batsmen truly puked their weight on this tour? Malan probably just about. The rest have no more than one decent score a piece.

We now have to start blooding some new players. Sentiment out the window, there is simply no point in picking Cook anymore, nor Broad on this tour at least.

No denying Cook has been absolutely abysmal.........thus far anyway.
I just have a feeling that he still has something to offer and wouldn’t exclude him just yet.......he’s not very old and has been wonderful for so many years.
I think he still deserves one more Test series and see how things go.......if it’s clear that the mojo has gone, then that would be the time for him to bow out gracefully.
Very interesting to see what he has to say on the matter at the end of this series.
Like I said.........I feel he still has a lot to offer!
  • Broad now has our third highest score! 435/8

This is one of only two or three times this series where the English batsmen have properly got on top of their bowlers. Great to see.

I noticed Cook has now moved up to the 7th highest run scorer in test match history today, overtaking Chanderpaul. Should overtake Lara very soon too
