He's showing some serious fielding ability and some decent death bowling too. Batting hasn't quite caught fire yet, but that's no big deal
His scores in the BBL are I think you are being a bit harsh on Jofra's batting. He really hasn't had much chance. His scores are 3*, 4*, 0*, 25* and 1. In other words, only one failure.
And the time he was out for 1 was the first ball of the final over of the innings from Bravo. He's not a top 6 bat yet but, to illustrate his potential, his first class average is on a par with the likes of Hales, Roy, Malan, Stoneman and Vince!
He's a decent bat. As a Sussex supporter, I've seen him bat several times. He'll end up as a no.6, I think.

He scored 60 odd against Kent batting at number 11 in a 4 day game last season.
Once Stokes comes back, I would like to see (surprise, surprise) Ali given the elbow, and we go with Roy,Bairstow,Hales,Root,Morgs,Stokes,Buttler,Woakes,Rashid,Wood,Another.
But, likely, they will discard Hales, and move everyone up a place with Buttler at 6 and Woakes at 7

Ali has been poor in Australia but is still doing a good job with the ball in ODIs - he's keeping it tight and getting wickets.
He looks shot against quick bowling though and that's a real issue going forward, both the short ball and the full length delivery are causing him big problems.
However, on English pitches - with our much smaller grounds - Ali can be a very dangerous ODI batsman with his clean hitting.
At the moment yes, but this is the same bloke who scored two hundreds in five Tests against the best spinners in the world in the series in India in 2016/17.
He got himself in a real tangle against Lyon and could probably do with some time away to clear his head.
Ali has had a shocking test series, but I would be very reluctant to jettison him from either team.
Possibly worth trying him at 3 in the Test Team, and thinking of him as a second spinner?
He is a class cricketer, and one poor series shouldn't be the end of him.
Of more interest is where Stokes slots back into the ODI team, as there is no obvious place at the moment.
If we are going to play our best side then Stokes will come in for one of Roy, Bairstow and Hales depending on who is the least in form. Unlucky for one of them but bringing in Stokes gives us that bit extra not least with the 6th bowler option. Root, Morgan, Stokes and Buttler will interchange according to the state of the game for 3-6 with Ali, Woakes, Plunkett, Rashid and Wood making up the balance of the side.
When one thinks that we are having to leave one of Roy, Bairstow or Hales plus we have the likes of Billings, Vince and Willey who all had successful stints in the BB, it shows quite how far we have come. For the T20 you can also add Mills (although he has blown hot and cold in the BB) as someone who offers something a bit different.
They have just mentioned on the BB that England have won 18 of their last 21 ODIs but Australia have won just one of their last 13. Safe to say we are a much better one day outfit than they are and a credit to the back room staff as to how they have changed our mindset to one that is fearless. So much so that McCullum says that they are the one side who does win away and home.
I've put this on the BB thread but if you haven't seen it please try and see the catch to dismiss Bravo in today's Renegade v Strikers game - THE greatest catch of all time in my opinion for any number of reasons.

You havnt said who did it AA.
Laughlin originally caught it on the boundary and mid air threw it out of the back of his hand to Weatherald some 30 plus meters away who then had to dive to complete the catch. The link has been put up on the BB thread.
That's been done before and done better. Put 'Bevan Small' into Youtube
Sorry the Bevan Small catch isn't as good simply because the back up fielder was only a couple of yards away and he didn't have to dive to catch it.
The impressive bit isn't the second man having to dive for it, it's the fact the first man was already aerial and over the boundary when he caught it, and he released it before hitting the deck. In the one today he had a couple of seconds and almost missed the other fielder

Just watched both catches, and the Bravo one today is the better, the Bevan Small one is just an instinctive pat back to his fellow fielder, that you tend to see 2/3 times a season now, whereas the one today was outrageous.
I literally can't believe anyone would prefer the recent one. To catch one-handed and release while airborne over the boundary is on another level. And there have been other relay catches too. Let's see...
The Lyth/Finch ones (they did it twice!) are both in the Bevan Small class - fielder over the boundary, take and release in one motion. The second one even has the second catcher diving too, seeing as that's the thing you lot seem to value the most. And if you want one that's more or less identical to today's except with a more accurate throw from the first catcher then there's this

I've taken better catches myself than all of these pony express farces.
I can just see you and Colin Cowdrey in tandem taking a catch like the one taken on the boundary today. And then I woke up realising that this was all a dream and an impossibility given neither you nor MCC ever left the slips!
The Bevan Small one for me. The initial catch is much harder and in a position not conducive with throwing to the other fielder. Additionally the relatively short distance between them also decreases the margin for error. The one today, he had a much wider radius to get it within catching distance of his colleague.
Kieron Pollard does one similar but throws it to himself and also dives to catch it.
imo, the Bravo catch is far better. The Bevan Small one is 'just' a regulation volleyball jump and pat back to his mate who is 5 yards away, which, as i said, is something you see increasingly in cricket nowadays, whereas the one yesterday was a catch at speed whilst leaping, then releasing out of the side of his hand with enough velocity to reach his mate 20/30 metres away who then has to dive to take the catch. Far better imo.
We totally bottled it in the U19 World Cup 1/4 final. Bowled Aussie out for 122, were 40 odd without loss and then 96 all out. A very fiery, cocky red haired leggie called Lloyd Pope destroyed us with 8-35, one to look out for.

Shocking performance from a side that has looked head and shoulders above their previous opponents. Banton got 58 of them with the other nine dismissed batsmen making just 21 between them - and we still had more than 26 overs to get the remaining 32 runs and were, effectively, 49 all out.
Love to be a fly on the wall listening to what Jon Lewis was saying to them after the game!
