Root's final over, when it comes, will be massive.
Root doesn't need to bowl any more if Morgan doesn't choose to use him. Root and Plunkett have the combined 10 overs leaving ten each for Wood, Woakes, Rashid and Ali.
They did - only Dhoni has as many hundreds coming in at 6 or lower as Buttler and on current form there is an argument that Woakes should be 7 and Ali 8 as Woakes isn't just a slogger but tries to bat properly when the circumstances dictate when he should do that.
It was incredible hitting in the last five overs but they did a really good job of rotating the strike in the first seven overs of their partnership leading up to it too.
Was the perfect way to end the innings. So glad they both got to the milestone (100 and 50).
Thoroughly good all round performance today - from the sensible batting in the middle right to the end when the plans were executed so well by our bowlers.
A couple of interesting stats from this season so far.
Top wickets takers:
Starc 30.0-0-193-6 Rashid 30.0-0-195-6
Bowler with best economy:
Ali 27.0-0-127-2 (ER 4.7)
I think that does go to show that we do need those two in the team and that we can't go in with one spinner and Root. Having Stokes and Woakes in the side means that we can still have two other quickies too.

agreed, but having Stokes, Woakes and Rashid's batting aswell as Plunkett chipping in, means the other spinner does not necessarily need to be a batsman too.
Ali does a decent job of holding the end up but I would still prefer a spinner who averages better than 50 in ODI's.

He's showing some serious fielding ability and some decent death bowling too. Batting hasn't quite caught fire yet, but that's no big deal
His scores in the BBL are I think you are being a bit harsh on Jofra's batting. He really hasn't had much chance. His scores are 3*, 4*, 0*, 25* and 1. In other words, only one failure.

And the time he was out for 1 was the first ball of the final over of the innings from Bravo. He's not a top 6 bat yet but, to illustrate his potential, his first class average is on a par with the likes of Hales, Roy, Malan, Stoneman and Vince!
