He will go Gillingham, all our old and not good enough shite does.
No chance, he hates them the same as Millwall.
Players really don’t hate clubs like fans do mate.
He’s said before, like the last time at Bromley Addicks in February of his extreme dislike to Gillingham.
Why? I can’t imagine Gillingham eliciting a feeling as strong as “extreme dislike” from anyone. Anyways, if there are no other deals on the table I’m sure he’ll be able to suck it up and sign for them.
He’s had several months to come up with his excuse for his dreadful behaviour, expecting it to be a belter when he finally says something.
As per my Lyle Taylor thread comment.... This man is a massive prick for not having the balls ( or anyone could say he's quiet or shy.....that's bollocks) to stick around to help his team mates.....forget us fans. Factor in us fans and he let a LOT of people down. Don't give me the loyalty shit in the years he served. He should have explained If he was that much of a shy and retiring man....I'm like that but I'd always want to explain myself if I'd upset someone.... Let alone 15-20,000 fans. Prick. Please close these threads. Pointless now.🤷🏻♂️
I am not condoning what he has done in any way shape or form. I am just making my personal observation and ‘maybe’ giving a reason as to why he’s not being more open as I assume he would have at least a modicum of guiltily feelings. Others are saying he’s not shy and retiring, once again I can only say what I have experienced in the few times I have met him and that others I was with observed it too.
Given that Solly hadn't been picked since the 5th January (and that was in the reserve side we put out in the Cup game against WBA) it doesn't take a genius to work out that he was out of favour. It has also been confirmed that he had a bust up with LB and the consequence of this and knowledge that he was being released, coupled with his known chronic injury, probably caused Solly to take the decision not to see out his contract.
Not in any way saying that it was the right one or certainly one that I would have made in those circumstances but what difference did it make? Absolutely zero. We kept three clean sheets. In fact, having someone in and around the squad who was clearly so unhappy and been shown the door is not perhaps something that LB would have wanted anyway.
Time to move on which is something Solly is trying to do right now. Such are his circumstances that I would not even be surprised if he didn't end up playing non league next season.

Did he hand back the money raised for charity from his testimonial match @Addick Addict ? He was our club captain, if he wasn’t going to feature in the matches he could have still shown a degree of professionalism and not snaked his mates and the fans that gave him a career.
Like I said, he’s had months to come up with this excuse and I’m expecting something amazing, I mean really knock your socks off incredible stuff when it comes out. In reality I just want him to sign for Gillingham/Yeovil/Exeter and then we can all get on with our lives. He was a hero, now he’s nothing to us.
Is it possible that Chris Solly has gone to the PFA over the way things have been handled?
If we've stopped his pay (prior to 30th June) then he could have legitimate grievances (didnt someone mention on here that he had a massive falling out with Bowyer?) that the PFA could be looking into... Could be a bit like Curbishley v West Ham when he couldn't work until that was all resolved.
Of course he could have played on until the 30th June
But if something has gone in the background then he may have just cause to refuse to play perhaps
@Ollywozere is Solly ever going to confirm that reason for not playing out the season?
Yes, we’re looking to sort something out very soon. Was due to do an interview of sorts today so we can start arranging his ‘goodbye’, but he had some family stuff to deal with so catching up tomorrow.

It seems really unlikely though. I know people don't want to believe it, but 2 months down the line something would have emerged by now if there was a genuine "excuse" for Solly not playing

Nothing remains “in the background” at Charlton Athletic Football Club.
I would guess he’s still figuring out his excuse, I’m sure we’ll hear it soon enough.
To be honest I'm really not that bothered about Solly.
Yes, it may have been nice to have made himself available but he was a peripheral figure, probably wouldn't have been used and therefore I don't feel it really had any impact on the team.
Interestingly, did any of you see his face on the Wembley gantry with Pearce just before they lifted the trophy? He wasn’t a happy bunny, I imagine being left out of the team for that match would of hurt and maybe influenced his decision.
Not a nice way for him to go out, he was a good servant to the club but he didn't ultimately get the club relegated like that cnut Taylor and don't feel he should be viewed in that way either.
I’m holding off from criticising Solly, there may be something else going on here. Something doesn’t seem quite right about the whole episode.
#metoo. I'm just hoping there's no illness involved or worse.
This.
Chris gave a total of what, 17 years of his life to our club? We mean a lot to him and I am sure there is a very good reason, even if we don’t understand it personally, as to what has happened. He wouldn’t have walked away and left in the way it did out of choice.
I hope there is nothing else major going on and he and his family are in good health.
We will find out and the truth will come out at the right time. Maybe right now, it’s just not quite the right time.
I'm sure in time we'll find out but it's already been a long time since he left, looking ahead to a new season I've more or less already forgotten about him and will be pretty apathetic now to whatever the reason is.
When you called Solly a prick for not having the balls to stick around and help his team mates, I presumed you must know his reason.
Reason is immaterial...he just fucked off.
You don’t know that so it’s best not to judge or call him out when you don’t have a clue on his situation other than what the general consensus is among Charlton supporters.
He didn’t do a Taylor and put his own career interests and earning more money before the club, his manager, or teammates.
Let’s wait and see what transpires and then you can make your own mind up about how you feel and what he actually done.

Or an official Charlton calendar.

This is all very strange.

Hopefully all is good with Solly, he's alright as well in my eyes.

Solly has said nothing
