Charlton v MK Dons - Post Match Views

edited November 2017 in General Charlton
Hugely frustrating and controversial end at The Valley.

Within the draw of a breath, the gap with Shrewsbury tightened to 5 points and then widened to 9

Regardless of the circumstances, very much feels like two points dropped here.

Look forward to hearing the views of those at The Valley or following on ifollow

Missed too many chances and it cost us

Usual story, plenty of possession, plenty of chances, but no real goal scorer to take them

2 points dropped and we're now 5th but looking at the positives, we gained a point on Wigan so are now closer to the promotion places than we were 2 hours ago.

Surely we can gain some ground with a win over Rochdale.

We drew, Palace drew, Millwall drew, Wigan drew. Would have called it a neutral weekend, but for Shrews late winner.

Disappointing but unbeaten in 8, won 4 drawn 4.

Cant score from open play at the moment. We got 2 goals but 1 was from a corner and other an own goal. Need to score more when we are on top.

It felt like two points dropped before we scored our second. To fail to close that out for the second time this season is most disappointing.

I think Wigan are going to be very strong and hard to catch. Today was one of the very few opportunities we will get to close the gap - two points dropped.

    Wigan lost.

Maybe Wigan will start on a downward spiral after today and we can concentrate on a solid second place table position.

    Why??
Referee decisions cost us... Williams should have been sent off meaning the whole second half would have been different because MK Dons wouldnt have been able to have attacked as much nor could they have made the subs they did.

Would add the relentless falling for MK Dons tricks meant they got fouls for falling over with minimal contact which disrupted our game plan.

The penalty (I cant yet say if it should be or not) yet the fact the ref ignored it from a yard away whilst a lino who isnt allowed to flag for a throw in the correct way without approval from the ref gave it yet his view surely meant he was guessing

Yes we should have taken our chances

Yes we played damned well and should have had three points yet you shouldnt have to score more than 1-0 to win provided one team isnt favoured over the other and that didnt happen

We can put a dent in it with games in hand.

Why on earth would you have taken a point at home to a team in the bottom half?
Because MK Dons are not a bottom half team!!

FFS... If they finish bottom half then yes we should have wanted more than a point yet at the moment the table wont paint a true picture till the season is over

Yeah it was a pen... But the red card was a red card and stand by my first paragraph

Ugly Dons somehow scammed a point. The number two should have walked after the assault on Holmes at the end of the first half, we should have had a penalty handball in the second. That said, most of our best chances fell to Nobby!

First home league game in a while, they changed the team second half and the added energy in central midfield overran JFC and Kashi, who couldn't cope. Reeves was fouled in the build up to the first, and the second was a dubious penalty decision at best. However I thought we lost our way in the second half, with tired legs trying the same fancy flicks and one-time passes that just weren't working any more, and we started to run out ideas. Still, another point in the bag and a chance to gain ground in the next 3 games
