I don't care how shit KR thinks Ajose & Vetekele may be, I say bring them both back now !!!!

Whats the point of trying to borrow someone when we already have 2 of our own players out on loan.

Any loans or freebies are going to be pants, injured, or both (ala Dodoo & Best) so might as well run with what we've already got.

I know there's an element of WUM-ism about your posts but....

Any loans are going to be pants? Mavididi anyone? Dasilva? Amos?

And Best wasn't pants. And was badly injured playing for us.

I'd MUCH rather have KAG, Magennis or Reeco on the pitch than Ajose who had plenty of opportunities to show he wasn't pants and didn't take them. He couldn't even get into the worst team in League One.

I'm weirdly not that bothered. We're in the real low ebbs of being involved in football as a club now and really I'm just waiting for it to blow over. Ricky Holmes is 30. In the years - and it will be years - it will take to pull the club out of the depths Roland has led it into Ricky wouldn't be a part of the team we might eventually one day be able to be proud of. Roland's still not gone now, he might still not go. He might still be around for years, and we can't start rebuilding until he's fully out. I think I've just sunk to a point where the whole thing is so depressing I can't even be too upset about stuff like this

I feel like this as well. I just don't really give a shit anymore.

I was more excited for KRs post match press conference on Saturday than I was the game.

My pager was playing up so I had to wait to get a fax about Holmes holding up his Teletext Holidays shirt.

The deal was supposed to have been completed yesterday, but United had run out of carbon paper for the contract and the local stationary suppliers were shut for the weekend.
They rushing it through and have sent it to the football league.

Definitely get Ajose back, think the Vetokele situation might be more complicated but if there's a chance to have him back then we should, would walk into our (and most teams in the division) side.
Wages are the issue for Vetokele - not going to happen.

What would be the point of bringing back Ajose?

I am not going to diss Ajose, but to my mind he is a player best used as part of a front two and Robinson doesn't use such a system.

Not even fancied at bottom of the table Bury - and I think he earns a fair bit too?
I read (i think on here) that he fell out with some at charlton because he was openly boasting about how much he is paid
It’s as if we had a right bunch of dickheads negotiating transfers for the last few years...

I agree that Da Silva & Amos have been 2 of our best players so far this season (to soon to rate Mavvy imo) but then Dodoo was a flop & Best wasn't really fully match fit, which is the price you pay for going down that route.

As for your "rathers" - In case you didn't know KAG is currently injured, so out of your list we are down to 2. Out of those 2 RHF has never started a league game & Magennis is so out of form I think I'd score more goals than he would - and I'm old & fat !

Ajose might be shit & KR might not rate him - but he is our player & he has shown in the past that he can score goals. In these difficult times all differences should be put aside & KR needs to look at options that we have to hand.

Basically this. The whole place needs a clear out and a fresh start.

The only two people I'd definitely keep in the building are Chris Solly and Johnnie Jackson. The rest have some degree of attachment to the regime (some more than others).
Sentimental bollocks imo - you'd clear out Aribo? JFC? Fosu? Bauer? Come on ffs
I said definitely keep. Those lot you mention are worth keeping but I wouldn't lose any sleep if they were sold.

Good luck Ricky Holmes. Wish you all the best

And excellent work Richard Murray. We turned down 600k in summer and sold him for 400k now. Given the money goes out of the club and straight to Roland, we should have just given him away.

the issue is at charlton holmes has a bit of clout regarding wages and we pay well for a league one club i believe, compared to a lot of the others, sheffield united granted can offer a higher level of football but also with living costs considerably lower they probably are offering less money, holmes probably has to weigh up shipping up to sheffield for a team where he might not start, compared to charlton where if hes fit he plays, if it doesnt go through because of rickys demands - then all those that thought he wasnt moving for the money were wrong.

Ricky's first Charlton deal was at 'the going rate for League One', but the silver lining with his wages available to Karl is that his improved deal since the summer was significantly higher.
I'd take his wages now being available to KR with a gargantuan pinch of salt.

My prediction is that we'll be linked with a couple of players over the next couple of weeks but on Feb 1st KR or RM will release a statement saying "we just couldn't get them over the line but we're comfortable with squad we've got"
Not this time, Robinson has made his views on Roland very clear recently. If Roland is still here at the end of the window and we bring nobody in, KR will ll make it very clear who's fault it is, as clearly he doesn't want the season petering out to be laid at HIS door

    He's got nothing to lose

If KR really doesn't fancy Ajose maybe because of his attitude, then why would he want him back? I've no inside knowledge but there has got to be something that just doesn't endear the player to his manager. Personally I think Ajose is only bothered about himself and is not a team player so it's a no from me. Give Reeco or Umerah a chance.

Surely we can't be putting that much pressure on either of those players ? Has Umerah even played a minute of league football this season.

Ajose isn't amazing but we're desperate and he's proven he's capable at this level, I'd bring him back unless he's planning on taking Ricky's place in selling crack to the youth team.
Ajose can only score if he has a service.

We've just tsold the one bloke we had capable of supplying that...
He was awful for us. He just didn't look like a footballer. We can do better than that. It would be an admission of failure to play him.
  • I know Robinson wasn’t impressed on Wednesday when Holmes collected his boots from Sparrows Lane and told him so as well as few home truths.

Don't know how I am going to break the news to my son, he is bound to ask on Saturday why Ricky isn't playing. My son is 21 by the way.

Just be straight to the point and firm with him, if he plays up, stop his pocket money and ground him

Tell him he's gone to live on a farm way up north. It's sort of true

Roland is like the kid who owns the football and takes it with him when he fooks off when his dinner is ready.

    Something like this?

  • Who will be next? Konsa? Bauer? Vetokele? Aribo? Kashi? Is there anyone else who is fit and worth more than a Eurostar to Belgium?
  • I would like to see Ajose given a chance, i could see what he was trying to do on a few occasions, just didn't have luck on his side, this stupid commentators sterio comment "His got to hit the target", he was trying to place his chances but unfortunately not on goal. It is going to take a while for this club to turn around. What really does worry me is the boring, negative football we play, how we are 6th totally baffles me, probably sums up the standard of this league. Does anyone actually feel that we are capable of promotion playing this style of football? I am still more concerned about relegation Than giving any thought about top 6.

I always feel gutted when our better/best players leave. Ricky is just another one joining Bonds, Glover, Mike Bailey, Walsh, Elliott, Lee, Parker, Bent, JBG, Lookman, Gomez etc. Holmes has left when we are in a play off place. Sad days again to be a Charlton fan.

But he was played up front with Josh by Slade and didn't pull up any trees Seth.

I highly doubt you'll be hearing KR say that.
  • Incidentally, which page in the 2018 calendar was Holmes...

Any idea why he has not left yet, then? Seems pointless to keep him here if the agreement is already made.

Can we have a vote on Ajose? I saw most of his games for us and it wasn't pretty. I'm no fan of Magennis, but at least he's awesome defending set pieces. Ajose was lazy.

I think we can sometimes mollycoddle young players. Unless they're physically weak there's reason not to shove 'em on the pitch and tell them to get stuck in. It might toughen them up.
I'd love to go on about Jimmy Seed playing three times a week for Mid Rhondda just after being gassed in WW1, but you might think I'm boring....
