  • So Richard says that Roland has made up his mind to sell the club, but recognises that we are a much more attractive proposition as a championship club.

So he might be minded to back Robinson with players in a push for promotion?

I doubt it, he is hoping that if he can't get his £55million that somehow we might go up because of lucky white heather or something, not by a bit of player investment because he would be thinking there are no guarantees.

As for a takeover in February, that also means no backing for Robinson because the window has closed.

I think that Robinson will have to make do with what he's got, and continue to try to get results. If we do get taken over in February, but the present results are sustained then Robinson will keep his job. If we now go on a bad run and we're taken over in February I think he will depart.

There is every incentive for Robinson to produce results, but sadly very little backing.

  • Is it? How do you know?

Because, throughout this process people who’ve said they’re in the know, not in the know or have heard something inbetween have posed a number of dates, which have been and gone.

Supposedly due dilligence has been done by a number of parties, two still active, of those two if they’ve done dd why aren’t they closing before the January window?

Or is it a bluff, yes CARD and the Trust called for Richard to speak and he agreed and then CARD stood down their gathering who’s to say Richard mentioning Feb is just in the hope of things continuing to quieten down?

I don’t think based on this it’ll be feb I think it’s a bluff. I do hope who ever is still actively considering buying are holding off so as to sweat Roland on the price
  • Well done card for initiating some dialog.
The way I read all of that (and it's just a view) is that Roland is prepared to take his time to sell, he is in no immediate rush. He has a price in mind and only failure to get us promoted or a fire sale would reduce that price for now. If potential buyers want to negotiate on the price post due dillagence, then it looks like they will have to wait until the summer, when Roland will better know where he stands. Until then, the squad is going to run without any new investment.
I suspect Roland will hold fire and hope he gets lucky with a promotion.

Thank you for posting. Very similar to other comments, it is nice to have comments by other forum users actually confirmed.

I still think he’s trying to portray Roland as someone who cares about the club. I highly doubt he cares about any of the factors named in the article.

Have to hope we can get through this month without selling anyone and the deal can be done quick enough to provide some massive momentum for when we really need it.
  • Thank you for taking the time both to meet Richard Murray and write up the meeting.

I like the questions even if the answers appear inevitably bland.

I wonder if he's saying Feb is the likely takeover month because he knows it's close but he's also aware that he'Il get hammered if he says Jan and it doesnt happen (better to under promise).

Surely if prospective buyers can be ready as soon as Feb and have been around for a while (done DD) they would be doing everything they can to bring it forward to Jan whilst we're 6th in the league and the transfer window is open.

Was McLeish at the game again today?

  • Thanks to those for arranging and disseminating this. I’ve learned something.
  • Still sceptical about what RM says, anyone who was supposed to support the fans views under RD and sits on hands and does nothing, needs to do a lot more for the fans than he has been prepared to offer. A leopard doesn’t change his spots so easily imo however we shall see, the least he could was meet with supporters representatives as any new protests would of still been negative for him, RD and the club. At the back of it also is the promised repayment of monies owed to former directors and that also must play a factor in the back of RM mind. Still we shall see I don’t see any investment happening this season for players.
  • Thanks Card sounds positive
  • Thanks for the write up of the meeting.

As well as sharing Davo55's "surprise" I would like to know whether RM was pushed on the "number" of consortium that had done DD ? Also, KR's revelation about the Carruthers non-deal seems to have been overlooked.
  • Thanks for the trouble. Hopefully Mr Murray will help to keep everyone happy by being a good salesman.
  • Presumably the question about Roland’s over inflated valuation of the club wasn’t asked?

The importance was that the meeting happened not the content so much.

  • Sounds like the whole ' imminent' thing was somewhat premature.

Cant really argue with what RM says and find it quite informative... Is there more he could have said?

Only bit I dont like his when he mentions the rift, there isnt a rift between the fans and the club yet between the fans and owner... He goes and those fans are likely to return - Should keep his mouth shut on that subject and let the investors make their own minds up on the situation!!

But what if he’s asked to comment on the situation?
You are assuming he mentions it as part of his sales pitch......whereas he may only address the issue if actually asked or it’s hinted at.
I think it’s fair to say any prospective purchasers would know the background to the situation anyway......after all, it’s been well documented.
  • I'd love to know if he still thinks he's the voice of the fans.

One burning question that would appear not to have been raised is the ridiculously high figure that is being quoted for the club and the impact that may be having on prospective purchasers.
The preposterous sum of around £50,000,000 is being widely touted, is that true?
At that price one would have to say the club simply isn’t for sale.....least ways, not at that crazy price or indeed anywhere near!
I believe I’m right in saying most ‘more knowledgeable’ people out there are suggesting the ‘starting point’ should be around £30,000,000, it being a far more realistic price.......and even then it’s at the high end!
Yes, a difficult question for him to answer but nonetheless one that should surely have been asked and even at such a late date maybe one that could, and IMHO should, still be asked.
  • Main points for me are.
Roland definitely wants to sell the club.
He will not want to be here for next season.
February could well be the month.
Light at the end of a long dark tunnel at last.

I agree with most of that mate the only bit that still concerns is that he may well have some marker on us be it rent or debt
