The problem is that reinstatement from outside the limit means loss of all accrued points.

Will be a shame as he stands a great chance of winning it but the Green Jersey will be a bonus this Tour for me

That is a shame, he has done so much for other British riders careers. On the plus side Chris Froome must be thinking he’s got a great chance now in the lantern rouge competition.

Geraint Thomas....  Thought he did in the 2007 Tour but just checked and the Lanterne Rouge expert Wim Vansevenant just pipped him.

Vansevenant was a Lanterne Rouge specialist, I think he won it three times, good work by Thomas to get close to him.
