Actually, wanker is a more a term of endearment over here. For instance, the first Luton fan you see, say, 'All right, wanker?' It kind of breaks the ice.9

A Q&A would be a good idea.Weegie Addick said:0 -

its not compulsory is it?0 -
My first England trip is finally here, leaving Chicago in a few hours. Many thanks to everyone for the recommendations and for helping me sort my tickets. Hope I get the chance to meet a few of you this week!21

Have a nice holiday, hopefully you'll bring Charlton some luck on the pitch.Rossman92 said:My first England trip is finally here, leaving Chicago in a few hours. Many thanks to everyone for the recommendations and for helping me sort my tickets. Hope I get the chance to meet a few of you this week!

Enjoy your trip over and try to make it to the Cafc museum after the Cardiff game if you can and if you want to see a piece of our history and pick up the Play Off trophy. Hopefully we pick up two wins for you.4

How exciting, have a fantastic trip. Hopefully we put on a good couple of performances for you! Enjoy and do a trip report when you can so we can hear about it.Rossman92 said:My first England trip is finally here, leaving Chicago in a few hours. Have you arrived in one piece?2

I have!! Went down to Charlton and took a walk around the Valley and the village, lovely stuff! Dismayed to find the club shop closed. Thought Tuesday-Friday it is open 9-5:30Baldybonce said:Have you arrived in one piece?7 -
There’s always saturday for the club shop and museum.
If you’re staying local Charlton house is worth a visit and Greenwich is nearby.1 -

Staying in Greenwich, will spend tonight exploring9

Remember you can only clean your teeth with cooled boiled water, not the muck that comes out of the tap and remember to ask everyone you meet if they’d like to see your fanny-pack.You’re welcome8

*bum bag. I'd jump into the Thames naked before wearing one13

Cutty Sark is a must. Both the ship and the pub - you need to walk along the river front, past Trafalgar Tavern and The Yacht pubs - both worth a look - to get to the pub.
Check if The Pelton Arms (a little further beyond the Cutty Sark pub) have live music during your stay - usually excellent.
Enjoy!
The Market is great.
Try Up The Creek for a good night of comedy followed by dancing. Decent nosh upstairs there too Fri/Sat2 -
All good tips but a decent nosh upstairs is not something you should ask for, unless you go to the MillersMrWalker said:Cutty Sark is a must. Both the ship and the pub - you need to walk along the river front, past Trafalgar Tavern and The Yacht pubs - both worth a look - to get to the pub.

If you are after a lively night tomorrow jump a train fron Greenwich to Cannon St about 15 mins (or DLR to Bank) and walk around the hundreds of bars and pubs in the City of London0

Really? I would have thought go to Charing Cross would be a far better bet ?AFKABartram said:If you are after a lively night tomorrow jump a train fron Greenwich to Cannon St about 15 mins (or DLR to Bank) and walk around the hundreds of bars and pubs in the City of London0 -
Friday night, if you want a bubble me old china then get yourself down the rub-a-dub for a few Britneys or a Vera Lynn or two and on the way home grab yourself a ruby and hope you don’t get the tom tits. Capeesh?Rossman92 said:

Where’s @Rossman92? I hope the excitement of walking round Charlton on a Thursday wasn’t too much for him.1

Waiting for club shop to open5

Just into my hostel. Spent the whole day lumping around London visiting some football grounds. Picked up my ticket for the Luton game. Many thanks again to @Croydon). I found out just how many ways you can get in or out of Bank station so that was an exciting start to the day. Checked off pretty much every ground expect Millwall or Palace because I couldnt be bothered. And Brentford because it's nowhere near a rail stop. Can barely feel my feet but an exciting day was had! Buzzing for tomorrow!SomervilleAddick said:Where’s @Rossman92? I hope the excitement of walking round Charlton on a Thursday wasn’t too much for him.16 -
Also spent an hour in Camden for lunch, an interesting place5

Brentford is 5 minutes from said station and their new ground towers over Kew Bridge Station. Move in next season. Ask nicely you could get a tour.2
-
I thought it was somewhere close to a national rail station. I tried to keep my trip to the tube because I didnt wanna bother with national rail potentially slowing me down. If I've got any extra time this week I'll tick that off tooharveys_gardener said:Brentford is 5 minutes from said station and their new ground towers over Kew Bridge Station. Move in next season. Then again Putney Bridge is way farther away from Craven Cottage than I thought it was so my the sticking with the tube idea backfired on my first ground1
-
Ah, @Rossman92, you have to get to know the trains rather than the tube! You're CAFC, after all.
Welcome and have a brilliant time at The Valley. Wish I was there!!1
