Terrific preview as ever. Seen Forest on the telly a couple of times, they look a decent, aggressive, hard working outfit with good strikers. Their defence is their achilles heel, albeit not a very sore one, Williams could cause problems with his trickery and Taylor with his ability to lose markers and find space. Our defence will need to cope with a lot of high balls and rumbustious attackers. (Williams a t m has the most assists in the Championship)
Living in Nottingham I can tell you for a fact that a large part of their fans are full of it, most reckon they will win. Would love to go in work on Thursday morning with a smug smile and walk past at least 20 odd miserable Forest fans haha.
Main danger men for them are Lolley and Grabban, both good championship players, reckon it's gonna be an open game and 3-2 to either of us, hopefully us.
I think they played a 4141 last game and used the wings so we are going to need energy on the pitch and players who can hold the ball to avoid the quick counter, Aneke should get the nod over Leko imo
Edit: just seen we haven't lost in our last 6 Vs them, they might be due a win then
Leko tracked back really well vs Stoke and I think is fitter than Aneke so Bowyer may see him as a better suit for this game. Also, given that Oshilaja isn’t a natural right back, he’s going to need some help

Leko as much as he looked promising had a poor end product, when Aneke came on we had more about us and Barnsley looked more worried. Against a better side like Forest we are going to need Chuks for his height and hold up play, won't be able to get away with losing the ball as much imo.
I would only bring Leko on if we were behind, Aneke looked fit enough to start for me
As for Oshilaja I think he had a good game and looked pretty natural at full back, better game than Purrington imo. No worries there from me
I predict Forest will have moments when they knock the ball around nicely and look very dangerous, causing a bit of an uneasy feeling, but ultimately the boys will make the key moments tell.
It will seem strange playing on a Wednesday. Other than Boxing Day & New Year's Day I can't remember the last time. Back in the 1960's most midweek games were Wednesdays with a 7.30pm kick off, but for some reason most matches were changed to Tuesdays.

Didn’t we regularly play midweek games on a Wednesday when we were in the PL ?
We do not seem to keep a clean sheet, so I will go for my usual 2-1 win. Sorry for those that follow the match day thread, but as this game is on Sky, I will take a rest and watch us win in a relaxing chair, hopefully, someone will keep the match day thread up to date.

You deserve the rest mate. Not sure us getting fucked over on Sky is a rest though...but each to their own!
Sage, your proposed bench is a bit short of defensive cover, so I reckon Wiredu might get the nod over field.
Where did the delusion that Wiredu is a defender originate on this site (question mark non-functioning on my keyboard).
He played at RB against Forest Green last week
Yeah, that went so well we must do it again. Not!
Being picked for a scratch side does not make him a defender, and indeed he never looked like one. He is a wide MF with no pretensions to be a defender.

Yet at the same time he didnt play @ Right-Back as part of the first team when he would have the benefit of playing alongside better players - i.e. Take Bonne for example, people may have said that he didnt have a good game against Forest Green yet with service from a Midfield of Gallagher | Williams | Cullen he'll surely get better service than from a midfield of Field | Morgan | Lapslie etc.

I can agree about Bonne, for a striker it’s far easier to perform and look better when the players supplying the service are of a higher standard. If he makes the runs, he’s more likely to be found with those players in midfield. However, with Wiredu, and I know this isn’t what you’re saying but, playing him in a position which is not comfortable or usual to him, against a very decent Championship side will destroy him and any confidence he has. No matter the support we give, he will still be exposed.
Wiredu is one of the few players who needs to go out and play men’s football for a little bit this season. Hopefully in League Two. Everyone is keen on young players coming through and that’s great, but let’s not ruin a player before he has even really started.
Pretty much all of the teams in the Championship have good players. So do we and Taylor has already proven this season that a goal is a goal and he knows how to stick the ball in the back of it. Championship - hmphh.. With a few lifting their game vis a vis Saturday and both our home form and crowd behind the boys, I predict a ‘sit up and notice’ 4-2 win to the Addicks. Gallagher, Leko, Taylor and Bonne for us, Grabben with a brace for them.

No Id fully agree with that, despite what I said I'd still be very surprised if Wiredu was to be involved in Championship Football at this early stage
Both Karlan Grant and Joe Pigott should always be the lesson for any Charlton manager when it comes to throwing in youth too early
If he doesnt go out on loan this season then I'd be extremely disappointed as the lad doesnt need game time for the U23s now
Hopefully Forest Green were impressed enough to sign him themselves, wont be surprised if they're competing at the right end of the table again
I am feeling confident about this one. They have some good players who we are aware of. We have some better players they will be less aware of. 2-0 first clean sheet.
We have a secret weapon in Hemed, but will be outgunned when Forest reveal the 3 players they thought they had signed a month ago, but who got lost at the bottom of the EFL transfer filing cabinet
On the "how many points in August "thread I went for a solitary 4, with the Forest game being our first 3 pointer......so seeing as I expected this to be our first win I'm sorry to say I think I may well be wrong again.
1-3 and we drop out of the autos & into the play off positions
Really looking forward to this, will be a decent test against a club who will finish between 8th and 14th. No reason why we can’t go and play on the front foot and take the game to them.

Back to to the top of the tree
with a win against the Forest.
With Kayal, Page, Oztumer, and Field all to really come into the team as well as Hemed, this is very exciting.

1-1 for me. They go ahead, we equalise through Aneke late on.

2-1 win, Taylor & Gallagher.
