  • Our diamond formation is vulnerable to attacking wide play, especially when opposition full backs are attaching in style. There were several times when we were overloaded at Barnsley down the flanks and Gallagher in particular did not track the full back. Forest are strong down the flanks and a strong aerial side, something we are not. Having played a mid tier side, one in transition and fellow upwardly mobile travellers this could be our first clear reminder of the financial chasm between us and many of the other sides. 0-2 to Forest.

I can see Bowyer going 4-5-1 again, and with the players we have we can easily switch to a diamond or 3 at the back if needed.
  • An early lead will knock some of the confidence out of Forest after their 3-0 Win last game. If we can achieve this I can see us getting the win and really stamping our authority on this league. Blimey, just re-read that and it sounds nothing like a Charlton supporter. Hope I am not getting above my station.
  • Anyone know if Sky Sports Action is on Sky Go?
    It is.

Pretty sure Forest (if they've done their homework) will look to target Oshilaja, but i expect Bowyer will know this.
  • Crowd prediction?

Plus we are at home Saturday.
    So I'm going 15,000
  • School holidays and nice weather will help with the family sections (if they're not away)

    You forgot the smiley.
10,000 S/T holders, plus Forest have already sold 1,500 = 11,500 if no one pays on the day.
    Attendance will be 15,000 - 17,000 at a guess.

I've no idea what the result will be, but I do know it's great to be really looking forward to playing Forest again, rather than the likes of Rochdale.

You would be after coming from a 3-0 win, but they seem to know sweet FA about our players, and the "stats" on their forum about the way we play are balls.

It'll be a tight one, 2-1 either way. Always good to get your first loss of the season over with early though :D

We got over our first loss of the season with a good come-from-behind draw at Oakwell on Saturday ...

    ;)

Thanks, but who and where does it say they like my preview?

Understandably they’re confident after their result on Saturday. However, our home form in the league is excellent and many clubs don’t really know how Bowyer gets us playing.

Someone said on here that other Championship fans would be suspicious of the Hemed deal and were right

Doesnt overly bother me but is irritating in when clubs moan about an injustice that doesnt exist, simply because the EFL didnt move themselves quick enough - Same with when we sold Jenkinson and used the money to win League One, opposition fans that season would moan that we'd brought the league when we clearly hadnt!!

    Did like this comment though:

We going to need away wins this season and I really think Wednesday will be one of our better chances.

God knows why they think they're so special that its going to be them that break our home run

Can't blame them really, they're a decent top half championship side who've already got a draw away at Leeds so naturally you would expect them to fancy their chances against a newly promoted side.

It's no different to the vast majority of our fans predicting we'd roll Barnsley over, despite losing there last season and finishing below them in the table.

I guess its the delusions of grandure after winning the European Cup under Clough
  • Reading their forum though, they do seem VERY confident. 1 guy even said we won't get a shot on goal and it'll finish 0-3.

34 votes on there so far and not a single one has gone with a Charlton win.

If we can stop Joe Lolley, I don't think we'll lose.

    Thanks.

Nice of them to praise the preview.

But there are some on that forum who are overly confident. As already pointed out, saying we won’t get a shot is ridiculous, we are more than capable of holding our own in this division with the squad Bowyer and Gallen has assembled

Similarly, they seem to think we have bent the rules regarding transfers. Firstly, Hemed is a permanent deal and some of them think we have just loaned him. Secondly, clubs are going to think we have done something dodge when it wasn’t our fault that the EFL took 11 days to confirm we had done everything right and he is indeed our player.

This is going to be a close game, but I’d take them underestimating us all day long. Something to remember is we have never lost by more than 1 goal under Bowyer. I don’t see that changing soon, especially tomorrow.
