Had not realized Oshilaja had got himself injured. I had wondered why he was not in the squad though.
Yes, I think a week or so ago before the Barnsley game, Bowyer mentioned he had twisted his ankle in training. Sounds as if it wasn't serious if now back training.
They aren't all knocks ...... it seems Pratley and Williams are rested, Green has a cold. Dunno about Field, maybe he didn't need to be risked tonight so there wasn't room on the bench for him? Maybe Smith fits the game plan better for tonights match?
Midfielders can be rotated, Bowyer has already said. We didn't bring in 4 midfield loans in January for nothing.

Hope Sam Field isnt going to be one of those injury prone players over the years
He's rated by the West Brom fans and was impressed with him whenever I saw him for us, just cant shake this knee problem though
It doesn't mean he's, "injury prone" ........ he's not getting a multitude of different injuries over a period of time.
It's the one serious injury that perhaps he's tried to come back from too soon, that likely just needs time to heal fully. Just a niggle, our people are saying. He's a West Brom player - and it sounds like they've insisted he's assessed at their own medical facilities.
Sounds like all but Field available for saturday. Sensible precautions not to risk them and backs up why we went for so many midfielders in january.
We've got 6 loanees anyway, all midfielders by trade ....... only 5 loanees can be named in the matchday squad. No need to rush back Field until he's properly ready.
PS: Just had a thought. Maybe the extra loanee was signed in case Field had his loan terminated?
I was told last night by someone who knows Williams quite well that he was quite down after his appearance at Stoke , which is unusual for him.
Although the term "rested" is probably true, it would appear that the treatment he received from those lovely Potters was worse than he normally expects.
For "rested" , maybe "recovers" would be a fairer description ?
With Oztumer and McGeady now on board, there is no need to flog JW into the ground.
Keep him for those 'winnable' home games, and maybe the last twenty or thirty minutes away from home.
He is obviously fragile, so need to treat him carefully.
I am not sure he is fragile, but he does get fouled a lot.
I doubt there is a player in the Championship that gets fouled as much as he is.
There can't be many more fragile players than Jonny Williams. I remember Ogrizovic getting injured all the time and of course our own Page, then there was "sicknote" Darren Anderton.

That's a constant theme of Terry and Greg on Valley Pass, and they point out another thing. Opposing players take it in turns. Jonny is already half crocked before anyone gets a yellow, because the idiot referees work on the offences of individual players, when in fact it's a collective tactic, which generally goes unpunished compared to the damage done. Stoke were at it on Saturday. Derby did the same thing on Gallagher.

I agree. There needs to be a change in the laws that persistent fouling by a team is an offence, with the captain being warned and then booked if it continues. There was a game earlier on in the season where we had about 30% possession and we were fouled 14 times, so about every two minutes!
I get the feeling that our response to these fouls has changed during the season in that we now go down when fouled so the ref has to make a decision, and I think this has helped. It is a pity we have not got a real specialist free kick taker to make these count more as this would reduce the fouls on Williams (and Taylor).

Him and Conor Gallagher when he was with us anyway. My Reading supporting OH refers to JW as 'banana skin' after the amount of time he spent on the deck dring the game at theirs!

Rugby has a collective yellow - too many offences and the next one takes a break for 10mins whether even if it was his first offence

That would throw a spanner in the works for a collective clogging team.
They'd be frightened to challenge Williams. Just get in the box, Jonny.

Exactly. Lots of things can be learned from rugby officiating

Plus Taylor and Cullen this season.
Not Naby though.
And so it starts!
