  • When Notts Forest went on their 42 game unbeaten run they played virtually the same team week in week out. In those days the pitches were heavier, muddier & only had 1 sub to use. How the feck did they do that when every week we seem to have half a dozen  players out injured.
  • I love JW, but I do feel that in order to get the best out of him, we need to get him playing in a different way. With the talent that he has, he should be far more productive in both in terms of creating, and scoring goals.
At the moment he spends far too much time either writhing in agony on the deck, or on the treatment table.
Free kicks are only of limited use, especially if you don't have a free kick specialist in the side.
We can't rely on referees to help us out, so we need to find a solution that helps to prevent him getting hacked down every single time he gets on the ball.

Because the game was slower and players weren't constantly training to the edge of their ability limits.

Just like I only missed a couple of games in 5 years of Sunday league. Where the pitches were heavier and we often only had one sub available.

It's a very different game today.
Plus players would have played through injuries then, that they wouldn't now, which would eventually have a long term effect on their physical health.

My great uncle used to play football and cricket at a very high level 'back in the day'. And by the end of it all his knees were totally shot to bits. Completely effected his mobility and quality of life in his latter years.

    A ton of Cortisone.
  • This is the second freak training ground injury Williams has had this season.  You could question with his experience, natural talent, injury record and footballing brain why the hell is he even taking part in contact training?  Mid season?

The games come so thick and fast he could probably keep match fit just playing this stage of the season.

I wish I'd never said he was created by Swarovski a year ago because he is so fragile that he even gets injured with team mates in training when celebrating a goal.

@Cafc43v3r you are correct, we have reached cotton wool time and Williams needs a Chris Solly type of training regime.
Jonny is such a talent but he doesn't have a body to take the hits.

Does Danny Murphy have any answers to a fragile player and how to get game time out of him ?
