It looks like its us and wigan, but if the game in hand for the boys below us result in loses it mixes it up again... could be a topsy turvy finish to the season, but that is HUGE win and will give everyone at the club big confidence going into the run in.
A win in front of a big crowd on Saturday and we could even start believing(dangrous).
Still love this team for all their flaws.
Think boro, QPR and Hull are going to get dragged in to things as well, Hull dropping like a stone without Bowen
Can't see why people are getting carried away by this, I've just watched the highlights on sky & apart from our goal & a wayward cross from Doughty it was all Forest.

Just beaten a top 4 side, scored a cracking goal, kept a clean sheet and regardless of what the highlights show, we were the better side. If you can't get carried away by that...

Thanks for taking the piss. Have you got anything to say about the result?
Fantastic win - an absolute bonus three points and our first away clean sheet all season I believe?
Keeping Taylor was crucial, if he goes in the summer to make some cash then fair enough, I can't blame him for that. If his two seasons here involve one promotion and then Championship safety then that's top work.
We now have 36 points so only really need another couple of wins to be safe - maybe even less than that.
Here are the points required to stay up for the last six seasons....
2019 - 41
2018 - 42
2017 - 52
2016 - 41
2015 - 42
2014 - 45
...we have to see how it goes but if Wigan collapse then we may only need low 40's to stay up, but with our current points total even one point per game from here on in still gets us to 50 points which would surely make us safe.

Great performances all round & a cracking win. I would like to pick out a MOTM but having watched it via the red button I'll have to defer as the picture quality is soooo poor it's like watching it on a 120 Asda's own video cassette.
Have to agree with various posters that it wasnt just a brilliant cross by Sarr but an excellent finish by Taylor. Probably convert 2 or 3 out of 10 with the rest going over the bar or missing it completely. Watch it again & he makes up 10 yards to put it in the back of the net. Superb.
Honourable mentions to Matthews, Dougherty & Oztumer. Hemed tried but I think if Bonne was there instead we would have scored a couple more. Didnt like the tactic of having just Lyle up there on his own for the last 20 mins & didnt think Smith added much
Onto Saturday. Hate to put a downer on things but Blackburn are in form & would be happy with a point......as long as we then beat Luton the following week.
Just got home from the match. Well never saw that one coming! Thought we were easily the better team in the first half and so different to last Saturday... Having Hemed up top with Lyle made such a difference by opening up the field of play and giving the likes of Oz and Josh room to play. Would have been two up just after half time had Hemed kept his composure. The goal was sublime. Seeing the replay doesn't do justice to the cross that Naby put in. It was hit with a lot of power. Everyone played their part and that turn by Oz on the 18 yard line in the first half was worth the entrance money alone. Very happy tonight and happy for the other 801 who traveled a lot further than me to get there!

They created a few good chances, but we matched them for most of the game all over the pitch. It was a great performance all round, best since Bristol City. If we can keep anything like this level up for the rest of the month against Blackburn and the teams around us we will be out if trouble very soon.
Almost a whoosh but good comments.
The whole point of my comment was we've gone to Forest, by all accounts taken it to them thoroughly deserved the win & all sky could show was almost constant Forest attacks.

Don't count out Hull. They are sinking like a stone and are absolutely useless without Bowen and Grosicki
I agree, notwithstanding the fact that Hull have 40 points. If you lose your two best players at this stage of the season, you have to be at risk. There are almost shades of Mike Flanagan and Colin Powell being shipped off to New England Teamen towards the end of 77/78, when we were 14th and ended up needing a point at Orient in the last game to stay up. Tom Eaves and Josh Magennis - who tend to alternate at centre-forward - are limited at this level and it remains to be seen whether Hull can scape the extra 10 points they need to ensure survival. An opportunity for Maddison to show what he is (or isn't) made of.....
I think that tonight's result and Wigan's recent form will have a good few lower half teams looking over their shoulders.

Totally agree with all the praise for the team, Sarr, Taylor, Oztumer, Phillips in particular, for Bowyer and also the fans who were brilliant. Won't repeat it.
But I'm going to have one moan. Just don't understand the substitution of Hemed by Smith. The poor lad looked well out of his depth and just ran around fairly pointlessly. With Taylor left without a partner up front, we couldn't keep the ball and it just kept coming straight back. That could have cost us.
Bonne was on the subs bench. Why not bring him on for the last 20 mins
Agree totally about the Hemed substitution. Not that he went off but with who replaced him. Not only was Smith anonymous but with no support for Lyle we dropped a bit deeper and they came onto us a bit more. With two up top I’d have fancied us to get another goal and put it to bed. For twenty minutes I’m sure Aneke or Bonne could have come on.
A small gripe but otherwise I thought we were excellent tonight. Saar was awesome, Matthews shone again, Dills dealt with what efforts they had easily and there wasn’t anyone below an eight for me. Roll on Saturday, just hope w3 don’t fuck it up.
Just in, what a great night, I didnt expect anything before the game, after seeing defeats at Millwall, Bristol City, Preston, Derby, Middlesborough, Stoke, Luton and Swansea away in recent weeks the travelling faithful deserved that.
Taylor ran all night, Sarr had the best game I can remember and the support was again superb. Poor ginger lad took the stick well and the Forest fans really didnt have any answers to the commenst and songs coming thier way. Once they had to hand all those fake flags back into stadium staff (*note to new owners, manufactured atmospheres are not whats needed) they were pretty quiet.
Lovely ground, nice stewards and 3 points, fair reward after last saturday.
Cant wait to get back to the Valley for a couple of weeks before we have to contemplate 2 trips to Yorkshire in a week. Good rendition of the Tight Fit as well as we were leaving 'awinaway awinaway' Two very happy Addicks here.

No way did you get back to Bexhill by 12.19am. Takes longer than that from The Valley !!
Fantastic all round performance despite a couple of players being a bit below par. What won it for us was that we played on the front foot for pretty much the whole game. I think Bowyer took on board the justified criticism after Saturday and decided we should have a go rather than sit back and hope for a goal on the break. It looks like the players much prefer playing that way too. All that defensive bollocks just makes them nervous.

Totally agree that being more positive from the outset made a difference.
Just got back home with a big grin on my face the whole journey. A great performance tonight by the players, but I think the brilliant support from the fans helped get the team over the line, what an atmosphere!
What a great win - have to say that I expected it though.
Listened to the MNC ob Fivelive the other day, and they were interviewing the local Forest BBC reporter and Kris Commons (ex Forest I believe), and they all seemed to think that the Charlton game would be a formality, and that it was WBA and other fixtures that would be more problematic.
This may explain why they decided to rest five players, and thus lose momentum and traction from the Leeds game at the weekend.
'Never fuck with the form' is what all of the old pro's say, and I think that is what Forest have done here.
Older posters may remember our 99/00 promotion year, when we welcomed Swindon to the Valley late in the season, who were not only bottom of the table, but also going through serious financial difficuluties as well.
If memory serves, we may have even paid for their Youth Team to get a coach up that morning, so that they could play our lads.
Anyhow, despite all of our charitable donations, Swindon then decided to turn us over 1-0, and we all went home feeling like we had been mugged by a Vicar!
Good solid team performance. Akin to the type of stuff we were doing earlier in the season, aided by being able to pick nearly a full strength team and bench. Cullen and Taylor starting to look match sharp now, particularly Taylor - didn’t think he’d have two 90 minutes in a week in him yet, let alone to still be chasing down like he was at the end. Really hope all the crackpot conspiracy theorists and twitter twats get their heads out of their arses and start to appreciate what a quality striker he is. Enjoy him while we’ve got him.
Hemed is another one starting to look fitter and sharper too. He’s not quite there yet, and he needs a goal, but the signs are there and he’s working hard. Thought he linked quite we well with Taylor at times and his hold up play was decent.
Ozzy was busy and I thought Davis was really good - showed some nice touches and broke play up really well. Pratley has had a fantastic season and offers us a lot but Davis might actually be a slight improvement.
Back five all played well. Delighted to see even the haters noticing how good Sarr was. Maybe his best performance of the season, but he’s had similar showings. Genuinely believe we look better when he plays, think we just have to accept the odd ricket in return for the odd moment of genius like that cross. Mention to Taylor for the finish too - completely alive to what Naby was up to and t totally stole a march on his marker.
Matthews was excellent defensively. I’m still not convinced by him going the other way, but he’s good in one on one situations and got his head on a few corners. Young Alfie did pretty well up against probably their best player but faded and wasn’t able to get on any of those marauding runs. He have one moment in their box but needs to stop trying to smash it into the roof of the net and start picking out team mates in the penalty area. Purrington did well when he came on. With Bowyer favouring a narrow midfield, I think the addition of a couple of quality overlapping full backs could really transform this team, but that’ll have to be a summer project now. In the meantime what we have are plenty good enough to keep us up.
Phillips was excellent. One magic save from Naby’s own goal attempt, some important catches/punches, and top drawer shithousery at the end. Anyone who still doesn’t rate him has shit in their eyes.
Don’t agree with those bemoaning Smith coming on, they were overloading our right side and he provided important support to Purrington. Forest were always going to come at us towards the end, sticking Aneke up top was never going to change that and would’ve left Purrington exposed. McGeady showed some nice touches and a bit of pace running with the ball - more to come from him I suspect.
Bowyer has a selection headache for Saturday. He’ll be loving it, I’m sure.

Really gritty stuff, a win against Blackburn and I can see crowds up as we head into the run in.

Me of little faith. Delighted to be wrong.
Superb performance!!
