Did my own hair with the clippers last couple of times, reasonable results. I know the owner of my usual barbers so will go back in a few weeks, he's not had it easy the last few months

There was a queue of 15 geezers outside the barbers at 08:00 this morning. In the rain. At, say, 15 minutes per cut the bloke on the back is going to be seen about 13:00. The world's officially gone bonkers.
    15 minutes??

Twenty minute slots for a basic haircut although depends who's trained you. The Edward Scissor Hands school of hairdressing will train you to cut faster 😄.

Not sure of your point, do you think it should be shorter or longer given the clean down in between each customer too and not everyone has a clipper cut? Seems about right to me.

Longer. Don’t think I’ve ever had my hair cut that quickly. And that was before all the cleaning etc.

My hair cuts usually take that long, clippers up the side and back, scissors on top. Razor on the neck. Trim the eyebrows and ear hairs  :D

Me neither but I was trying to err on the  generous side.

Popped round to my local hairdresser at 9.30. She’s doing one person in athe shop at any time. Bookings only. I got tuesday. Place looked like an operating theatre. Yet tonight someone can shout all over me in the pub. Weird.

I would think a delay until they get their rhythm going and their eye in can't hurt.
The hairdressers are out of practice, but if all you want is less hair rather than a decent cut you could do it yourself.
Another week or two won't hurt.
Mind you I will stroll past and look in to see if my place has made any effort because of the Rona.
If not, then it might be time for a change anyway.
It is quite hard to find a decent barbers, I don't know how others do it.

The beggar is doing a roaring trade outside the Herbert Road barbers this morning... no one can leave their space in the queue to get away from him.

    (Just joking a bit...).

I chatted to my barbers on Thursday, and was advised not to go today as it would be manic!

Desperate for a haircut though, so will early next week
drove past the Turkish barbers this a.m. 10 (at least) young men waiting outside .. I have had a few cuts there, the barber is a VERY slow and meticulous worker .. let's hope that patience will be rewarded

This is my local barbers.  It’s changed a bit from the 2 rooms; 3 chairs in the front room and 1 chair plus waiting in the rear room.

Andrew's on Charlton Church Lane open but using a ticketing system - collect a ticket first thing in the morning and come back later in the day.

A bit pee'd off atm. 2 barbers in town. One is usually open until 5pm. Went past this morning and there was a bit of a queue so thought I'd leave it until later. Got there at 4.30pm & they were closing up......and the buggers have also put up the prices. Might only be £2 extra but from £9 that's over a 20% increase.

The other one was half empty......but you need to make an appt first & they said they were booked for the rest of the day.  And they are now charging £13.50 for a dry cut.

    Daylight fecking robbery.

I was 4th in the queue this morning, got my ticket, went to the Valley Cafe and went back for the cut.

They are open tomorrow (don't normally open Sunday's) but are already fully booked

Won't you be likely to end up "half cut" ?
You need to be if you're socialising with Elfsborg 😉.

Booked in for Wednesday, price gone up £3 for Senior Citizens to a tenner, outrageous! To be fair the salon has had a makeover. Face masks have to be worn and free disposable ones are available. Attendance no more than 5 minutes before appointment and queue outside until called. The beard will be coming off beforehand and I'll be getting my money's worth with a short back and sides, bring it on 😎.
You northerners moaning about the price.
Down here in the south were bunging them an extra tenner.
    Well apart from elfs

I've assumed my extra £3 includes a tip, no? 😉
