Amended to take account of the 'debut' part.
Which is partly why I dont usually take part in threads like these. Most of the posters dont read the title of the thread & simply post their favourite track or band.
FWIW. Out of the ones already posted I would go for.......
Break on Through - The Doors Bat out of Hell - Bat out of Hell

Yeah, it's a terrible thing this list your favourite tacks on a thread titled 'What are you favourites'?
The Rakes - Strasbourg De La Soul - Intro, The Magic Number The Strokes - Is This It The Beastie Boys - Rhymin' & Stealin' The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds
F*** me how good were the 90's?
Some might argue not as good as the '60s or even the '70s!
I say that only because i was exiting my teenage years at the beginning of the 90’s. It’s the Golden Age of culture for me. God knows what the kids are listening to these days!
Route 66, Rolling Stones 1st Album. Was the first L.P. I purchased in 1964, still got it stored away in a cupboard with Jimi Hendrix 'Electric Ladyland' the album with the naked women on the cover. I know its not the first track but 'Voodoo Chile' or 'Gypsy Eyes' take me back to them old days of hipster flared trousers and grandad shirts!!
I love the whole album - and for a band almost unknown in the UK it was one of the favourite albums of my youth and compares very well to anything Nirvana churned out in terms of 90s grunge rock

If you care to read what I actually wrote I was replying to the pp who had crossed off virtually all someone list as the tracks weren't from debuts albums......which is the whole point of the bloody thread.
Not just favourite tracks......or favourite opening tracks......but favourite opening tracks from the artist's debut album.

I don’t generally wade in to this sort of disagreement, but I really don’t understand what your problem is with this. He clearly didn’t notice the ‘Debut’ element, I pointed it out to him and he corrected it. No problem. By the way, notice that it wasn’t, as you claimed, someone correcting someone else’s post. @Stig corrected his own post.
If only you’d cared to read what he actually wrote eh? 😉
Edit: Bah! Too late. Beaten by @Stig. (To be fair, it is his argument!) 😀
Art School - The Jam A Message to you Rudy - The Specials One Step Beyond - Madness Teenage Kicks - The Undertones A Walk Across The Rooftops - The Blue Nile Dreams Never End - New Order Oblivious - Aztec Camera Long Hot Summer 12” - The Style Council I Wanna Be Adored - The Stone Roses Rock n Roll Star - Oasis I’ve Been Waitin’ For Tomorrow (All of my life) - The The Perfect Skin - Lloyd Cole & The Commotions
Just a few from my teens/20s...loads more over the years. Will do a bit of digging through collection.
Art School - great choice and not one that many would think of
I hate to make this 'your favourite bands' all over again, but really, VdGG either began with 'Afterwards' or 'Darkness 11/11' depending on what you regard as their true debut, and either one of those is absolutely tremendous.
Mogwai kicked matters off with 'Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home', which was a brilliant opening gambit that they hardly improved upon.
The Byrds began with their version of Mr Tambourine Man, which was pretty epic of an introduction
Earl Brutus! They introduced themselves to the world with Navyhead for heaven's sake!
OK finally one some of you might agree with: Suede's So Young. I mean it's hardly better than the rest of the debut album, but that's one of the best albums ever made we're talking about. And on a lesser Britpop tip, you've all mentioned Rock n Roll Star, but what about She's So High? Much better
The Beta Band charged out of the gate with Dry The Rain, and John Cusack immediately sold three copies of their debut set
Mercury Rev entered the fray with Chasing A Bee! That song is amazing!
It's weird how many Britpop-adjacent bands I'm finding for this particular exercise. My taste usually skews a bit weirder but I'm definitely being dragged to the CL mean here Ultrasound - Cross My Heart is another great one. Maybe in the Britpop era you had to start with a bang to get noticed?

Yep, that'll do for me.

whole album written and recorded in seven days by Dave Grohl in his basement a few months after Cobain died.
Released it under the ‘pseudonym’ of Foo Fighters to try and retain the anonymity. Still think it’s their best album
Now available on Spotify etc (sorry for the promo)
Stay safe my red friends.
