Arsenal Friendly today (we got smashed 6-0)

A few goals coming from the edge of the box, runners from midfield and deep attackers getting to the ball first, something to work on in training
Interesting that many PL sides had games against themselves rather than outside opposition. Higher quality opposition, but far more predictable as you know their tactics, strengths and weaknesses

This practice game just reminds us why we will be relegated, for most of the season are defense has been rubbish. the 18th worst defense in the division.0

I'd be very happy if we finished 18th in the Championship, 4 places above 22nd where we are now!msomerton said:This practice game just reminds us why we will be relegated, for most of the season are defense has been rubbish. the 18th worst defense in the division.3 -
no one should seriously be taking much notice of getting dicked 6-0 by Arsenal when we've been training for 2 weeks and had 2 totally different sides out each half....all about fitness levels and not picking up injuries, I'm confident LB will have us ready4

With the return of football, the return of 'blaming the defenders for everything'. Our midfield hasn't exactly torn the house down.msomerton said:This practice game just reminds us why we will be relegated, for most of the season are defense has been rubbish. the 18th worst defense in the division.
That said, I'll freely admit that good old Naby did well to get his periodical 'not jumping for a header' out of the way in this one

I don't mind him not jumping mate as long as he does enough to stop the attacker getting a free header. You don't have to be the tallest to to be a good defender in the air 😈. However if Bowyer has told them not to make any contact then fair enough it's a case of, after you Claude 😉.Leuth said:

Firstly we were playing Arsenal a team who had the likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang playing lolmsomerton said:This practice game just reminds us why we will be relegated, for most of the season are defense has been rubbish. the 18th worst defense in the division.
Secondly are players are a week behind in terms of training and only returned to contact training yesterday
Jesus have some perspective lol we are not gonna be coming up against that attack again lol, I think 6-0 was rather good for us given the circumstances lol1 -
Do me a favour, Mr Always-fear-the-worst, a little perspective please.msomerton said:This practice game just reminds us why we will be relegated, for most of the season are defense has been rubbish. the 18th worst defense in the division.
For around 3 months, the squad was decimated by injury, something like 14 players injured for weeks and weeks on end.
The team was packed with raw inexperienced kids, some brought back from non-League loans and thrown straight into Championship games.
And even when players were finally returning after long layoffs, they were far from match fit and had to be carefully 'managed'.
Do you not think that this situation seriously distorted the defensive record?
It's a level playing field now, as far as players' fitness is concerned.
Apart from losing Taylor, all other essential players are available.
Often it's necessary not to judge by bare statistics, but look at the context.

Aren't the sayings 'we go again' after 'a bad day at a furloughed office'.0

They would beat the drop by nine points yet due to bad ownership decisions would be deducted ten points and thus relegated to League One
At the other end of the table; Derby Counrt and Sheffield Wednesday will face off at Wembley for the final spot in the Premier League9 -
