Athletico Charlton said:To be fair , with Wednesday being deducted 12 next season they are going to have to go and spend some serious cash to get a squad capable of staying up. I mean, they may need to raise £50-60M to spend on the team... Wonder if the owner fancies buying the training ground too!0

What about Stamp Duty? Was it paid?3

Can this be brought to the European court for arbitration of Sport (CAS) ?0

I would prefer if Wigan stayed up. They deserved it on the field. Barnsley were dross most of the season but improved last few games. Plus their owners have deep pockets and would help sue the the EFL0

I know I’ve asked this before and been blankedThe Sheffield Wednesday owner put money in to the club by moody jiggery pokery accounting but is it in the form of a gift like our current generous unknown benefactors lol or is it loan based stacked with interest on payments like the evil douchebag
yes rules have been broken and they should be punished accordingly
what season was the rule initially broken and did they immediately rectify this the following season by complying with FairPlay rules or whatever it is .Cos to me if someone (who can prove source of funds and is legit ) wants to spunk their dough on a football club by gifting their club big sums of money I say they should be allowed to and more fool them .1 -

They were charged this season, their hearing was this season, the verdict was announced this season............but the punishment is applied next season. How does that work?Yes, if you take Wigan out as well then we would’ve had a bit of luck staying up, but there again, we had a massive amount of bad luck that took us down in the first place, with injuries and bad refereeing decisions etc etc. Losing only two games against clubs in the top six demonstrates that we were not a total disaster.1 -
The punishment doesn’t befit the crime. They’ve been found guilty and should be relegated with a 12 point deduction next season. Same should apply to Derby. No justice in this outcome6

Now, if they hadn't had cheated the ffp rules & therefore not bought Fletcher then he couldn't have scored against us. Sheff W being able to buy players on higher salaries led to us being relegated. Pure & simple.5 - Sponsored links:

No doubt it has made a mockery of the completed table in the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday cheated.
And the EFL are complicit with this.9 -
Sadly they are.

The only charge that SWFC have had is filing the sale of the ground into the wrong year.
And there was an email from the EFL confirming it was okay.
We are appealing this verdict and it now looks like the 12 point penalty could be overturned....now as much as I dislike our current owner if he was given the okay then I dont no what more he could"ve done.
Lets wait and see how our appeal now goes.
I note Charlton are now under some sort of investigation by the EFL now as well?20 -

operationpig said:The only charge that SWFC have had is filing the sale of the ground into the wrong year. Yep, nothing wrong with that. OK, just the small matter of fiddling the books to avoid accumulating more than the allowable losses in a three-year period which would have triggered penalties from the Football League.
And there was an email from the EFL confirming it was okay. The FL actively encouraged disclosing a financial transaction in an incorrect reporting period (not good) or merely said that "selling" the ground to your owner was within the (piss-poor) rules?
We are appealing this verdict and it now looks like the 12 point penalty could be overturned....That would be a disgrace and a massive f-you to all the clubs across the FL that have conducted their affairs in line with the financial regs
now as much as I dislike our current owner if he was given the okay then I dont no what more he could"ve done. Not bloody cheat?

Cheat ?
If you want to look at cheats take a look a parachute payments rewarding clubs for failing.
You have already seen clubs like Leicester Wolves and Bournemouth all use loopholes ( some say cheat) just to get around ffp used to stop owners over spending, however because they sit in the PL they cant be touched.
Lets see how our appeal goes ...source says looking good for it to be overturned.15 -

For the record, I don't agree with the parachute payments that relegated Premier League clubs receive - I think it distorts the following seasons' competition (is it two or three years they get?) giving those clubs an unfair advantage over the other Championship teams. Clubs earn enough money whilst in the top flight; surely they can squirrel some away as a contingency reserve for a post-relegation existence.
Loopholes, cheating, whatever - it all goes against the spirit of what sport should be and they should be punished regardless of which division they are in.
If only there was some kind of over-arching governing body that could apply consistent rules against all levels of the professional game ...6 -

I don’t care if you get a pardon from the Pope. You are cheats.
At least be honest with yourself. Most of those posting on Owls Talk know it was wrong, and I think we all know you will carry on cheating. Trying to justify it makes it worse.
I am beginning to think you will win your appeal as the more fans across the Championship look at what is happening, the more no one can understand the delays and favourable treatment your club got. It stinks piggy 🐷 and you know it.12 - Sponsored links:

Also whilst ever you have owners who wants to put their own money into the club you are going to get this.
The state of football is a joke, its all about money now and nothing else.4 -

Did you overvalue your ground?
Did you deliberately back date the sale in your accounts?
Does your shirt sponsor company trade?
Does the taxi company that sponsors you have any taxis?
Does the drinks company that sponsors you make any drinks?1 -

You can argue with the amounts and how long they do on for, but I can understand the logic of parachute payments as the income drop between the PL and Championship is massive. No organisation in any field would be able to cope with such a large and immediate income drop, hence the parachute payments exist to easy the transition, without the necessity of a complete on field fire sale
It's not as if the relegated teams always bounce straight back. Sunderland, like us, got relegated twice, while Huddersfield were far more likely to be relegated again than promoted1 -
Whatever happens, Wednesday will always be a scummy cheating club. Their fans must be so proud.6

The game is bigger than even the massives. It matters because football as we know it is under serious threat.
Sheffield Wednesday can never hold their heads up again. Appealing is beyond a joke.3 -
What a WAWAWanker6
