In context of scoring twice in our draw against an in-form side, before today Wigan had taken 23 points from their last 10 games, including 9 clean sheets.
Yes their defence looked surprisingly unsure against our "raw" strikeforce, for a team with all those shutouts
I guess we'll go with Hemed on Wednesday against Leeds if he doesnt feel so tired unless Davison has truly given Bowyer something to think about
Aneke used as an impact player for the last 40-30mins is a good approach but he needs to be more clever when the opposition start buying fouls
Says a lot though that we needed a goal towards the end and we didnt see an appearance from Andre Green
Davison looked far more likely to create something than Hemed has ever done. Unless he plays on Wednesday, Hemed will go the WHOLE season without scoring

Hemed has been as much of a success as Kayal. Very disappointing.

Something he's not done since 2007/08 season with Maccabi Haifa

I think Kayal would have been more of a success had we kept him in similar circumstances like Sam Field
Just seen the highlights. Poor clearance by Lockyer for the first but hardly a howler. Should still have been able to defend it really. Their second was good football after Cullen loses out a bit weakly in midfield. Lack of pace and desire from Lockyer though to let his man go past him too easily. Great volley from Alfie for our first. Great flick from Aneke and even better finish from Bonne for the equaliser.
Watched a re-run of the play off final on Sky football this evening. Need one more game with the same fighting spirit on Wednesday 🤞
I watched that, despite a few complaints from She Who Must Be Obeyed - "you've already seen this countless times!"
This time I watched the last few minutes of the match with a little "compare and contrast".
You had a player whose contract was ending at the end of the season. He wasn't going to sign a new one with the club. Did he already have another one lined up? Maybe, who knows. Almost certainly whatever contract he was going to sign was going to be considerably more lucrative than what he had with us. He carried on to the end, put his body on the line, and bundled the ball home with four seconds of the match remaining. He could have picked up a serious, career-ending injury in that sequence (players have buggered their knee in lesser circumstances) but he wanted to win for the club. Legend.
In contrast, you had the number nine and what he's done this year.
The cross field ball by Naddy Sarr to Bonne for the one to one on the keeper was pure class.
I do wonder if there is a way he could play midfield. When he plays out defence always looks worse but his distribution is outstanding.
Play him at centre-half-back at the base of the diamond; he'd provide a bit of cover for the centre of defence, could drop back to make it a back three/five if necessary, is very accurate with his passing (as long as team-mates keep their eye on the ball, eh Dillon? ) over long and short distances.
Oh, and let him loose on free-kicks around the box too.
EDIT: I said on numerous occasions last season that Naby always looked more uncomfortable in defence when Pearce was playing; there's something about how the skipper plays that seems to affect BeckenSarr's positioning and therefore his temperament. I don't know why that should be. He was solid playing alongside the BFG (a right foot/left foot pairing) but alongside the left-footed Pearce, in either a back three or at left-back, Naby struggles.
Wherever his best position is, he will thrive at a club that will let him do his thing. Maybe if Watford go down they can sign him as a replacement for his namesake (and save money on shirt printing)
Also, I think we're 90% safe now. Wigan are playing Fulham, who still have an outside shot of automatic promotion. I can't see Fulham losing that game. Well, about 90% can't. (Luton will probably at least draw with Blackburn tbh)
I know you're his number one fan Leuth and fair play to ya you have been consistent. Im fond of Naby (dont know why as hes a clumsy c*** sometimes and id probably be in prison if id got near him at Wembley after that goal). Hes a good player though and a lovely guy that has always been good with fans and does a lot of other of field community work that i hear hes always more than happy to do. I dont know if we will ever see this cult player in the Premier League but i love him. I just have this image in my head though Leuth. You in your shed with walls covered in Naby Sarr posters, wanking off to posts of praise for Naby. And it disturbs me.
Is Lockyer not a clumsy cnut sometimes? What the hell was he doing for their opener. I thought he should have cut out Birmingham's equaliser too. Is it because Naby looks clumsier that he gets more of a reputation. One thing is for sure, his passing is better than Pearce's or Lockyer's and that pass to Bonne was sublime. Not many of our players are capable of that.

It's from December last year so it may look very different now, but its funny you mention Lockyer's passing
Sarr's passing is more incisive so will naturally will have a lesser success rate. A lot of Lockyer and Pearce's passes are to each other and go nowhere. Look at assists and even parts in goals and you will see Sarr's worth. Think about that cross in the Forest game for Taylor's goal. Even more sublime than today's. Think when Sarr has put a wide player through to cause offensive threat.
I am not trying to be critical of Lockyer though, just throwing the criticism aimed at Sarr back based on Lockyer who I think has been an excellent signing for us.
My feelings for Naby are pure as the driven snow. I've often explained why he's such a one-off - a unique combination of underdog, long-serving player, loveable cult hero, fallible talent and absolute baller. What other Charlton player in living memory comes close? Maybe if like...Claus Jensen had been even more languid and much more charismatic off the pitch (but also froze occasionally). Or if Astrit Ajdarevic had signed a 5-year contract. (The problem with Roland - he didn't go crazy enough, eh?)
Every centre back is capable of making mistakes , even Bauer was at fault in quite a few games he played for us. Lockyer started the season well , but has deteriorated as the season has progressed . Pearce has been incredible since the re-start and you always get a mixed bag with Naby . I for one hope we see Sarr in a Charlton shirt again next season .

Yeah, if only Sarr's ball to Bonne today had been a little further forward it could've been a carbon copy of the Forest goal, was almost too good a ball to Bonne's feet in that position. Scrap all that talking shite, just seen it back again

I think Naby is a talent that we have underused this season. I'd love to see us keep him and play to his strengths as finding players of his quality on a budget is not going to be easy.
Can you imagine if Roland hadn't sold Yann but had still signed Naby? There'd be a statue of the old fella outside the West Stand by now and we'd be two leagues above Palace

Oh wait. Yann obv lol
Well if your putting in Yann then i will put in Mendonca so where will it stop?
Thought Davison was honestly brilliant. They really didn't know how to handle him! Bowyer come under fire midweek (really really harsh imo) but today there's no question he was right in how he did things. Davison was shagged and Aneke is a fantastic sub to bring on, think hes good anyway but his presence just batters tiring defenders!
Should have won but it is what it is. Keep going!!
