  • Zero shots against a side that finished with ten men is not acceptable for a side that, admittedly needs bolstering, still has some quality in it with the likes of Doughty, Williams etc.

That was dreadful, it can’t be put any other way.
  • Another painful viewing.
    Amos did well.
    Oshilaja was Oshilaja.
Purrington was decent as were Pratley & Fanewo.
Vennings played well for 10 mins then disappeared.
Levitt was shockingly bad, passing to Sunderland 90% of the time, a performance up there with Mikkel Alonso.
    Watson did well.
    Doughty was ok.
    Oztumer stank the place out.
    Washington was ok.

    Williams was ok.
Aneke looked dangerous apart from when he had a great chance and managed to clear the ball.
Maddison showed more ability with his first kick, than the rest did in 85 mins.

Just as I see it mate

We did have a shot on target, but straight at the keeper. Think it was Doughty.
And there was one from Ozzy, blocked by Washington.
  • No comment, it was so awful, I have forgotten everything about it already.... !
  • Point gained I would say, and hopefully a wee bit stronger the next time we play.
  • It's crucial that Maddison and Aneke train well in the next 2 weeks, as both are a long way behind where they should be fitness wise.

Williams was brought on to be an improvement on Oztumer. He was not. Very worrying
Don't think he did a lot wrong. They doubled up on him, as most teams do, allowing space for others. But he needs to get into the box much more, although you could say the same about Ozzy.

One thing I noticed today was that we often play the ball around between our back four, none of whom seem prepared to run forward with the ball. There was often acres of space in front of them that they could have carried the ball into, but instead they're passing sideways or backwards. Made it much easier for Sunderland to close us down.

I think Williams might have had it, which is worrying for such a talented player.  Evidently struggles mentally, which is really sad.

  • Pretty poor stuff. Not a single effort on target. Famewo looks a decent addition. Watson did ok. Again neither Oztumer or Williams offered much if anything. Levitt looks no better than Morgan and I thought Vennings had a better game. Team needs much improvement, I’d say five/six first team starters, not just squad players. Two weeks to bring them in and shape a team before we go again.
  • PWR. That was awful to watch. Levitt needs to be told to calm down. Every pass doesn't need to be a worldie.
Oztumer awful. Williams better but he can do so much more.
Need a decent strong centre back to play alongside Famewo.
Maddison looked bright, about the only attacking positive from the game.
Whoever we bring in we need some physical presence.
  • Thought our passing and ball retention was good for the first twenty - that's if you like sideways and backwards passing. Didn't offer anything going forward and the change to a diamond only benefitted Sunderland. The Makems should have gone in at least two in front at half time. Second half pretty flat until the substitutions. Lucky draw overall but better things to come I'm sure!
  • Thought we would lose 0-1 so well pleased after reading a report on the game. A point gained in the circumstances against promotion contenders.

Time now for new players, a little time for others to get better fitness also Gilbey & Pearce nearer to coming back.

Hope we get some quality in with the expected signings.
  • I feel we've pretty much carried on from last season. Can't score and look scared with the ball. The squad hasn't been strengthened, if anything weaker, and the players haven't played together much. A work in progress, that will most likely leave is mid table come end of the season. Stability is the key after the shit show of last season on and off the pitch.

Would love a run up the table as TS is hoping for but didn't seem realistic (so far). Bowyer will work his arse off and I hope the players so the same.

The BBC stats say otherwise and I genuinely can't recall anything on target.
There was a cross/ shot at the near post.

I do not think the Sunderland keeper actually touched the ball until the 24th minute.

    No finishers.

First half we were lucky to go into halftime 0-0. Bow changing formation twice in the first half told us everything we needed to know about the performance.

Much better in the second half and I will say I liked seeing Jonny in the middle, he threaded some nice balls one of which put Aneke through but his touch wasn’t quite there to bring it down.

Chuks changed it for us, his power and height caused them problem, but he isn’t fit!!

Special praise for Amos, pulled off some great saves and his distribution was very good. Two weeks now to get Gilbey fit and to get  bodies in and start competing.

    Charlton nil.

Bonne scores on debut for QPR.

Not bad for "terrible footballer" and "Sunday League standard.

    Quotes from the Knowledgeable CL.

Might be the manager. Just saying.

Thomas Sandgaard is a winner and
the bar for Lee Bowyer has been raised.
Lee Bowyer, will after this window, when we bring in two strikers hopefully, be judged on Results.

I haven't got over getting 2 points from the last 18 on offer in the mini 9 match season.
Last season was a nightmare from the moment Taylor got injured.

Lee Bowyer has a clean slate this Season.
Top 6 is the minimum requirement from TS.

Lee knows if he falls short of being in contention he is out of a job.
For an owner who is ambitions like Thomas Sandgaard, then Lee needs to know his best 11 ASAP and get rid of the deadwood.

In my humble opinion as someone who has coached and managed in grass roots football, the hard luck stories have to stop NOW. I will continue to give Lee Bowyer 100% because of the shocking hand he was dealt last season. Playing a right sided defender at LB was a gamble in one match let alone 3 in the mini season.

Good luck Lee and Steve in finding a Taylor, Grant or Bonne in this Window.

My only prediction was Charlton nil in the preview.
  • That was comically bad. There were incidents of pure slapstick – hapless confusion among our players that had me laughing out loud. I am appalled and shocked by our lack of the most basic technical skills: how to control the ball, how to make a simple ten-yard pass.

We did not manage a single accurate attempt on goal in the entire 90 minutes.

It was pitiful – clearances went straight to the opposition; our players got in each other’s way; a corner sailed directly out of play on the other side; two attacking free-kicks in three minutes were hammered miles over the bar.

A comedy of errors. A catalogue of accidents caused by idiots.

The thinking – if you can call it that – is all wrong. Early in the game, Doughty took a throw-in deep in the Sunderland half. He should have been running down the line to receive the throw. After an age of indecision, he threw it back to the half-way line. From where the ball was passed sideways…

After two minutes Watson made a hash of a simple move; his lack of physical co-ordination would embarrass a six-year-old child. After 16 minutes our ‘strikers’ collided with each other; goal kick. On 52 minutes on the right wing, our men managed to bamboozle themselves: that was funny.

Late in the second half, Watson put the ball out of play thinking Doughty was injured. He wasn’t - Sunderland took the throw as normal and mounted an attack. In the 90th minute Aneke received a long ball, was free in the box – and cleared it, like a Sunderland defender! I’m not convinced that our players fully understand the point of football.

Sunderland were strewn with errors too – goalkeeper air-kicked a back-pass that went out for a corner – but they did create a number of inviting chances. Notably the open goal missed from four yards. We were lucky not to lose by two or three goals.

We are a sick little team with no skill, no strength, and no brains. Frail shadows of men, shuffling in the wilderness. The Valley of the Dulls.

I really don’t understand what most of you were expecting today? I wasn’t expecting a point and would have been happy to avoid a hammering. For a defence that we had to keep a clean sheet - fantastic. The three blocks in one play was superb, such determination that they would not score.
One attacker against their three lumps. I was not expecting a goal fest.
We do know that this squad has been decimated- again. Let’s hold off with the criticism until we have players in and they have had time to gel.
The fact that we still have a club AND are bringing in players makes this a great season already for me, and not getting relegated will be a step up from where we were heading.
    This.

They are not always 100% accurate though. That's been shown time and time again in the past.

  • Performance stank the place out. Hoping things look better by the end of the month. We can’t be as bad as today again surely
  • Hard watch, but as others have said, the break is coming at the right time for us, this was a game we just had to get through and a point is a good outcome. Plenty of potential, but every sign of a side that is not accustomed to playing together.
  • We got away lightly there. Our point was more down to Sunderland than ourselves. But not expecting anything today and happy to give the team and management some leeway at the minute.

  • Sunderland should have been out of sight by HT
Second half we were better but helped by the fact that Sunderland seemed to lose there discipline.
Levitt was very poor and should have been subbed earlier.
Chucks and Maddison made a difference and with a returning Gibley will make a big difference.
Key to get in a RB and 2 strikers.
Still early doors but a point gained which I never saw coming at HT

I predicted we were going to lose 2-0 before the game, so a point was way better than I thought we were going to get.

The game should have been out of sight by half time for Sunderland, but for some good saves and poor finishing.

I couldn’t understand Vennings starting, but it’s too easy to blame the performance / result on a kid , and not fair, there were a fair few others off the pace as well.

We look badly in need of some fresh quality signings, with players up for the challenge of making a go of getting out of this division.

I thought our midfield looked completely devoid of creativity or energy.

Washington looked a lone figure up front, not his fault think we need to sign another 6 players and we’ll be ok.
