  • Levitt was good when he kept it simple. Needs to find the balance and he'll be great
  • I would drop doughty.  Bowyer seems to like the 4-4-2 diamond which I think he doesn’t play to fit doughty in. He is quick but what else does he do?

Would sadly agree at the moment... Reminds me of when we'd stick Shelvey out on the right of Midfield because we felt we couldnt drop him

If we're going to play him I think it needs to be in a 4-3-3 with Maddison or Washington as the other wide player with a proper targetman in the middle

  • Not sure what people were expecting. No recognised right back, a midfield that hasn’t played together and only one fit striker against one of the best teams in the division. Yes, it could have been better but a point is a good outcome.
Be nice if we can get a friendly lined up against someone in the next two weeks if possible

Or maybe if Bowyer gets his squad sorted by next week they could do another squad building trip

Just something to get that unity / familiarity instilled amongst the players
  • Doughty should play in a 433 but it Bows goes 442 with the diamond he should be dropped. He’s promising but I think overhyped slightly anyway.
  • Any marks for Tommy on commentary?
  • Charlton nil.

Bonne scores on debut for QPR.

Not bad for "terrible footballer" and "Sunday League standard.

    Quotes from the Knowledgeable CL.

Might be the manager. Just saying.

Thomas Sandgaard is a winner and
the bar for Lee Bowyer has been raised.
Lee Bowyer, will after this window, when we bring in two strikers hopefully, be judged on Results.

I haven't got over getting 2 points from the last 18 on offer in the mini 9 match season.
Last season was a nightmare from the moment Taylor got injured.

Lee Bowyer has a clean slate this Season.
Top 6 is the minimum requirement from TS.

Lee knows if he falls short of being in contention he is out of a job.
For an owner who is ambitions like Thomas Sandgaard, then Lee needs to know his best 11 ASAP and get rid of the deadwood.

In my humble opinion as someone who has coached and managed in grass roots football, the hard luck stories have to stop NOW. I will continue to give Lee Bowyer 100% because of the shocking hand he was dealt last season. Playing a right sided defender at LB was a gamble in one match let alone 3 in the mini season.

Good luck Lee and Steve in finding a Taylor, Grant or Bonne in this Window.

My only prediction was Charlton nil in the preview.
    Great post.
  • Any marks for Tommy on commentary?
I enjoyed it. Made a couple of insightful remarks about the game, but otherwise felt he was really respectful to Greg and Tel, allowing them to do what they do best.
  • Didn't expect too much from today. I'll take a point. Football is a team game not an individual game. No wonder we looked disjointed and not very good. It will get better. In Bows we trust. The two week break has come at a good time. Get two or three others in. Give them time to bond. It'll get better.
  • Poor game, our midfield really lacks spark and I'm not sure who is playing where, really needs to improve.

There you go, fixed it for you.

  • 4 games in and we are averaging a point a game which is relegation form in this league.

That is no surprise to me given the constraints Bowyer and team have been operating under.

Tommy now needs to put his money where his mouth is and give Lee some backing. In fairness the arrival of Maddison is probably the first sign of that. Other than perhaps the Crewe match it has been all too evident that the team is weak in certain areas. Our most prolific striker has left and needs replacing with someone who knows where the net is, we need more physical presence in the side and midfield creativity.

I'll judge it all before the January window as any acquisitions before this window closes will have had a fair crack of the whip.

I believe in Lee Bowyer and Jacko and hope that with the promised backing we will improve markedly.
  • Another painful viewing.
    Amos did well.
    Oshilaja was Oshilaja.
Purrington was decent as were Pratley & Fanewo.
Vennings played well for 10 mins then disappeared.
Levitt was shockingly bad, passing to Sunderland 90% of the time, a performance up there with Mikkel Alonso.
    Watson did well.
    Doughty was ok.
    Oztumer stank the place out.
    Washington was ok.

    Williams was ok.
Aneke looked dangerous apart from when he had a great chance and managed to clear the ball.
Maddison showed more ability with his first kick, than the rest did in 85 mins.

Pretty much exactly what I saw, word for word

  • I see Bonne scores in the 6th minute of added time to give QPR a draw away at Sheffield Wednesday on his debut ....... typical
I do hope we have not dropped a bollock there ?

Problem with all that is the wage cap. Even if we went to Forest for Taylor, or Huddersfield for Grant & offered them £20m the players arent going to sign as we can only pay them diddly squat. The wage cap has totally screwed us. The only players that we can sign will be lower league players or players out of contract who are now getting desperate for a wage. Any decent striker has already been snapped up. You'll find we will bring in a couple of young loanees from Prem sides (like Levitt) who might be ok but certainly wont get you enough goals to get promoted.
  • I have been watching Charlton for 55 years.  Today's game and the appallingly bad performance against Donny a fortnight ago really are the pits.  This is the lowest of the low.  Certainly, I witnessed some grimly barren spells at Selhurst when we didn't win for 15 games or more - but that was at a much higher level, with much better players.

This is the Third Division, and our inability to master even the most basic technical skills of ball control is shocking. Yes, I know this is a squad in transition if not dispersal, and under Sandgaard the future might - just might - be bright.  But I'm not talking about that - I'm looking closely at our every move throughout 90 minutes.

The unforced errors, the stumbles and fluffs, the balls misplaced and overhit, the sheer confusion: players' lack of awareness of others!  It's all a random shambles, a weak and incoherent mess.  Maddison looked more capable than anyone - an agile header off the line at the death - Pratley is a strong influence, and Amos might turn out to be OK.  But the rest of them...  Sorry, but the answer is No.
  • Happy with a point, we weren't great, they were slightly better but their finishing was terrible.

If only we had finishing. Or even a  shot on target.

I wouldn't single out anyone as particularly bad, Levett tried a lot that didn't work but we'd be slating him if he hadn't tried.

We need some bodies in, and we need all our players to be fit. Maddison was good. So was Amos.So was Chuks.

Work in progress. In Bows I trust.

But please, can we be more enertaining?
(Thomas, kan vi være mere underholdende?)
