Here we go again. Looks like we're playing Cobblers.

Let's hope we turn it on.

  • Chuks injured again FFS
  • Charlton: Amos; Gunter (C), Inniss, Famewo, Maatsen; Forster-Caskey, Levitt, Willliams; Doughty, Bogle, Smyth

Substitutes: Maynard-Brewer, Pratley, Watson, Morgan, Shinnie, Maddison, Washington

  • Aneke missing because he tweeked his groin scoring on Tuesday

Didnt realise that Northampton were another Hummel team
  • Aneke made of glass
  • What do we reckon. 4-3-3 today?

I'd have given Innis the armband with Pratley and Watson on the bench. Think it would have been great for the lad.
  • Thats a seriously strong bench!
  • Chris Gunther is skipper.

  • I'm gonna bet on a Charlton win with Williams to score. Got a feeling today's the day.
  • I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about the midfield as we apparently have so much strength in depth the there.

  • So is this a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3?

Think the midfield looks a little lightweight either way.

    More of a 4231 I reckon.

    My guess is

                      Amos
    Gunter Innie Famewo Maatsen
          JFC Levitt Williams
          Smyth Bogle Doughty
  • Happy with that team.

Good to see Maddison back on the bench.

Maatsen starting and think Bogle and Smyth can work well together

Although will be interested to see if its a 4-2-3-1 with  Bogle up front and Smyth and Doughty wide with Williams behind Bogle or just straight 2 up top in Bogle and Smyth
  • Or could be the diamond with Alfie left midfield
  • Maatsen masterclass incoming.

    I was thinking that too.

We're away and we've no midfield enforcer.

To my mind, you get more out of JFC in a more advanced position - although Robbo Gobbo used to play him in front of the back 4 as DM.
  • I am assuming Levitt at the base of the midfield diamond with jfc on one side and doughty on the other. Williams in AM position.  We went from having two defensive minded midfielders in the squad to having none in the side.  Interesting tactical choice by Bowyer
  • What do we do if we get a defensive injury?

  • Would swap out Levitt for one of Watson or Pratley but other than that. Not bad.

Bench has both attacking and defensive options to change up the game.
  • Someone like Aneke, who has barely averaged 20 games a season in his career, is not at the age of 27 going to become a reliable player.
  • What do we do if we get a defensive injury?
    Pratley I guess
  • Dont want to be that sort of fan but you'd hope that even with a lightweight midfield it'll be too talented for Northampton

Could argue that we shouldnt need bruisers when we should have the talent to pass it round them

Except if you want someone to come off it and score.

    Doughty if its a fullback
  • Interesting line up, rotating the squad, Levitt and Williams with a point to prove.

It's what can happen to any player who's not match fit. easily done when you've over stretched.

  • Chuks out again, bang goes my match prediction ;)
