  • Great to see AMB.

Interesting that neither Mingi or Ness, who are apparently ahead of Barker in the u23s, are involved at all.
Mingi must be a bit miffed if he is fit, isn't he a couple of years older than Ness and Barker?  If he isn't even getting on the bench for this, when would he play?
  • Strong side although with the exception of Innis and the returning and needing minutes Aneke and Madison it is probably our second team which shows the strength of our squad.  Interesting Baker is ahead of Ness and Mingi given the early season reason to include him i assume no longer is relevant?
Barker hasn't been ahead of Mingi and Ness in the U23s though.

Tuesday, the the Pizza Pap game. It's listed as a 1st team fixture too.

And he played in that competition last time out, v Brighton.

A bit of a blow to Ness and Mingi, not even making the bench today

Yes, they might play in the Pizza cup, but today is a much more important game

  • Considering how many players we've rested, that's an impressive side. And much easier for the kids on the bench to come on alongside experienced pros, rather than a team full of kids

AMB the hero in the shoot out

    Charlton:
    M.Brewer;
    Matthews, Barker, Inniss, Purrington
    Forster-Caskey, Levitt, Morgan
    Williams Aneke Maddison

    4-3-3 it is.
Substitutes: Amos, Wiredu, Maatsen, Pratley, Vennings, Henry, Washington
Maddison will play from the right. Williams and Morgan both capable of taking it turns playing from the left, but predominantly Williams, you would expect.
@sage can you see that front 3 all playing more than an hour?
Unlikely, but maybe Aneke could get a little more than an hour. They’re likely to be the 3 changes we make.
  • Can we make a fourth change in Extra Time?

Overall, much stronger than I was expecting. Really looking forward to seeing how Maddison and Aneke link up, that could have huge potential this season.

An attacking team, that’s for sure.

Maddison should get an hour, and then a full couple of weeks of training with maybe a in house training game for a top up on minutes, and he should be ready to start at Gillingham on 21st.

Won’t be watching it myself, but look forward to seeing the highlights at some stage.
In house training game? We've got a FKA Johnson's Paint game on Tuesday!
You can bet your last dollar there'll be an in-house 100% full blooded training game next Saturday.

New crop of injuries .... and the only survivors will be those players coming back from international duty.

Tuesday isn't a first team game though is it really?

If your 20 years old and you can't get on the bench when 3 of our 4 "senior" center backs are injured you would wonder if your ever going to get a chance.

Especially as Tuesday is a dead fixture as well

Yes, where the vast majority will be U23 players.

Others who are not involved today or Tuesday, and not going on international duty, 18 days between Fleetwood and Gillingham is a long time.

Why would you not have an in house training game? Even if it’s two halves of 30 minutes, it’s far better than nothing.

It keeps them ticked over and more opportunities for those who are coming back from injury to get even 20 minutes under their belt.

    It really is.

I dunno if they've changed the competition rules ..... but you always had to start a minimum of 5 x 1st team players who played in your previous League game.

  • The road to Wembley begins
  • Assume a minute silence before the game
  • The road to Wimbledon begins
    Fixed it for you.

  • Or a minute of military 🎺 then a minute silence!

Sound rather eerie hearing Red Red Robin to an empty stadium :(
  • Players looked completely confused at the end of the trumpet.
  • Great to see AMB and Maddison although surprised he's starting
