  • Well I’ve got a ticket for the Match, under the lights at The Valley, can’t wait so expecting a win 4-1 COYR
  • Shinnie has been out for 2/3 weeks now? Quite like his close control and foward focus in midfield.

Bogle really needs the odd goal before his season drifts away. Irony being our ex kids in Hanlon and Piggott know how to find the net at this level very well.
  • Perhaps the wrong thread but I’m interested in people’s opinions here:

Would you rather have Josh Magennis up front or Omar Bogle?

Tuesday will be 13 days since he came off at half time to MK.

Expecting him to rejoin training at some point this week though.

    Omar.
  • I think Bogle has more in his locker than what he's shown. Magennis is decent at this level though
  • Start the same team as Saturday . Bogle and Gilbey can’t play as bad again and if they do then we have super subs Williams and Chuks to bring on .

    2-1 win (Washington, Maddison)
  • Magennis for me, I'm afraid.

He's scored a few for table topping Hull thus far & regularly plays the full 90 minutes, I believe.....

Magennis, but that probably comes from a bit of wanting what we can't/don't have rather than being happy with what we've got (ignoring the fact he used to play for us)

I don't rate Magennis highly as a footballer, but this is a no brainer.
Magennis is miles better than Bogle, which shows you how bad Bogle is.
Magennis isn't very quick, but he does actually run and doesn't constantly fall over the ball.
He'll also be good for 10 goals at least.
Magennis is top L1 level, Championship at a push.
Bogle is non league, L2 at a push.

NB No fan will be more pleased than me if Bogle starts improving, making a few runs to create some movement and space and also scores a few goals.

DO NOT CHANGE A WINNING TEAM

(apart from injuries or suspensions of course)

There is no justification for rotating players at the moment. Certainly keep the back 4 as they were, or even a back 5 seeing as it worked so well during the 2nd half on Saturday. Any attempt to change things for changes sake will result in failure.....you have been warned.

    Same 11 + subs as Saturday = 3-1 win.
    Rotated 15 players = 2-1 defeat.

PS. Greenwich schools closing as from Monday evening - expect London to go into tier 3 on Wednesday so make the most of your trip if you are attending The Valley on tues night.
  • I wouldn't mind seeing a back five. Worried that our midweek form over the past season and a half has been poor. 0-2

Magennis didn’t look top league one when we were near the top of league one ; in fact, we’d have gone up easily if we’d had a striker of any substance that season.

Bogle is better nuisance value but won’t score any goals

    Aneke injured again apparently.

Given his track record he is unlikely to return soon if the 'apparently' is true.
    Where did you read that?
On here. Injured during the 'cool down' apparently after the game.
Is this true or just a wind up?

How the fuck can you get injured in the warm down?!

Charlton Athletic players are fragile, handle with care.

One CL poster said they saw Chuks limping in the warm down !

From memory, after losing to Sheffield United in FA cup Quarter Final, we then had a backlog of fixtures and played 3 games a week for 6 weeks with nearly the same players involved. Diego Poyet being the Catalyst for survival.

Buying our players from Swarovski was a mistake.

Josh Magennis was so poor at the end of his stay at Cafc his best work was defending corners.

Omar Bogle is a very erratic player who can fall over his own two feet or as his proved In the match when Washington knocked in the rebound at the Jimmy Seed end get a good shot off after a good run.

Omar Bogle does look more League 2 or National League but until the January window opens we need to get the best out of him even if it's just nuisance value.

If Lee Bowyer improves players then coach and instruct Bogle what is required.
When the coaches and analysts watched back the 5-2 win they would have seen Omar start brightly with good control and lay offs. The problem was the longer the game went on the worst he looked.
In the second half his brain went out of gear and was rightly hooked.

Both Bogle and Gilbey need to play against Rovers because of more injury, sickness and quarantine issues.

    Green or Wagstaff ?
    Bogle or Magennis ?

Wrong questions as we just needed better in the past and we need better now and in the future to achieve Thomas Sandgaard's ambitions.

  • Great preview @Sage. You’ve got enough knowledge to be chief writer for Bristol’s website and home programme!

Gutted with news of Famewo being out for 9 weeks. With him and Inniss fit and on starting line up, I’d be very confident finishing January in top 3. Interesting to see where we will be without them both.
  • Attack,
    attack,
    attack, attack, attack...

Probably blisters from a pair of boots that haven’t been properly worn in from constant use...

    Thank you.

Completely agree, both of them missing is a huge miss. Will be interesting to see whether Gallen has anything lined up about bringing in another young defender on loan. Inniss is going to be a while and you don't want to keep having to put Pratley at centre back and it wouldn't be fair to expect Oshilaja to play each game either.

It's an unnecessary frustration for Gallen, as I'm sure once the summer transfer window shut, CB was the one position he didn't need to be searching for before the upcoming window. More balancing acts are now needed to improve the squad, but also stay within the EFL budget.
  • If London moves into tier 3 today, then those with tickets for the game may be disappointed.
  • Cracking preview @Sage, very thorough, thank you.

I didn’t watch the game Saturday, and the highlights aren’t up on the site yet so I can’t judge on who did what well.
Going off the post match comments MM should start along with Jonny W.

Dej should  be looking at making a start to strengthen us at the back, but with his lack of game time and his tendency to make the odd mistake he could be introduced later in the game if we are in front.
As long as we show the same energy that was spoken of  as the 2nd half on Saturday we should get a result.

Hopefully TS is still in the country as IMHO just his presence lifts us a little more.

I think we’ll have to grind this one out.

1-0 MM with a tasty free kick.

    Was just thinking the same
  • 2-1 to the Addicks. A hard fought game.
  • Just hoping for a good pass map.

London faces a move to tier three - England's highest level of coronavirus restrictions - in the coming days, the BBC has been told.

Ministers and officials are said to be "deeply concerned" about a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases across the capital.

BBC health editor Hugh Pym reports London MPs have been briefed on the data, but no decision has been taken.

Londons Regent Street shopping district on Saturday 12 December

The weekend saw crowded shopping streets in London, which is currently under tier two restrictions

They are an average, inconsistent L1 outfit with a new and very experienced manager who has got them organised  .. we need to be beating them and their like, although we find it difficult to do so .. the team should be buzzing after Saturday but they (B Rovers) put four past the Wombles (away) so complacency has no place at the Valley and no team in this League should be underestimated ((:>)

so all the Valley spectators will need to be indoors by midnight, else they will all turn into Christmas pumpkins (or get fined 10 Grand)
