So Schwarz has an injured calf and will be out for a couple of months.

It can't be an injury from playing. Must own a smallholding and have a few cows.
    And a banjo?
Even though you are sizeist I afforded you a lol for that witty one.

A man renowned for his generosity. Many thanks 😉

Well done Sage for putting the other side of the story BUT there have been hundreds of players similar to Ronnie who came from overseas to play in the UK over the same time scale. All with families whether partners or Siblings and some with young children who couldn't join them. And the younger players missing their mums if they were honest.
The Covid football world was tough with the travel restrictions but this applied to everyone.

Ronnie Schwartz was the owners pick. He wasn't Bowyers, Gallen's or anyone elses pick; Nigel Adkins has this player added to his squad who he has never seen remotely fit.

Ronnie Schwartz last game for Mitjyplland was on the 17 July 2020. Cafc finally signed him on Jan 4th 2021, when he hadn't played for 5 months.

At Mitjyplland Ronnie made 7 starts in the year he was there from Jan2020 until Jan2021.

In a 14 year career, Schwartz has started 120 games ! How on earth was he going to be involved in a 46 game season in the rough and tumble of the 3rd tier of the EFL?

I wish Ronnie Schwartz well and his wife but he is a bad fit at Cafc and was always going to be if a discerning view had been taken.

  • Is that team from Denmark still coming in for him?

I don’t know whether the injury was in the game he played or whether it was in the resulting days after. But he played 45 mins for the U23s in August.

I don’t know the reason why the club has been as quiet with this situation because it has at times only fuelled the narrative that has been created.

He has suffered though and he is injured. And ultimately, it’s Ronnie that I feel sorry for.
With all due respect sage, remember when i said on here last year or whever it was that Field had a bad knee problem and you said he didn't, only for me to be proved right - no wonder people are doubting things - its been one thing after another and however much sympathy we may have for somebody who clearly is having  a 'bit of a time of it', that time is on our payroll and looks like there were issues before we signed him - we were trying to do a deal with his former club on the last day of the window but it didn't happen. Wish the man all the best but just a shame he has to do all this at the expense of our club and its just another in a long line of false dawns we have had to watch play out. The Gunslinger !!!
  • Schwartz, just like a lot of players before him is absolutely taking the piss out of the club and the fans. I bet he has no trouble picking up his wages every Friday. Did he come on a recommendation from Thomas? If he did we are in big trouble. Bowyer did not fancy him and Adkins does not fancy him. Nor did any managers in the transfer window. He will never play another game for us. Get rid of him now and get the football people to sign a proper striker.
So just because he is injured, he should reject his weekly wage?

This is certainly up there with one of the worst bits of transfer business that we have ever done. We are better off just paying him off.

Once a narrative is out there it’s very difficult for anyone to start believing the truth of what is allowed to be put in the public domain as possible.

It’s been frustrating and disappointing for everyone, but none more so than it has been for Schwartz himself.

If people think he is not injured, they couldn’t be more wrong. Nothing cynical about this.

He moved to UK without any family, living on his own with no chance of socialising because of restrictions. The players tried as best as they could to help him out and be a family for him here but it isn’t the same and they could only do so much themselves.

He went home during the off season and had personal reasons why he was allowed to return back late.

As far as we are now aware, he has family here.

It’s taken a while to get some fitness and when he is building it up (it’s difficult when a lot of your pre-season is when the season has already begun) he plays half a game and has suffered a calf injury.

As far as I am aware he has recently been in a boot. He is now going to be recovering, build up the strength in the calf, and get then fit.

But none of that falls in with the narrative that has been created. And maybe communication could’ve been better at times, but maybe it couldn’t have been as what right do we have to know the ins and outs of someone else’s private life just because they’re a footballer?

I really feel for him and hope that somehow he can turn his career at Charlton around and change people’s opinions of him. Unfortunately, that can only happen when he’s on the pitch. So the narrative will persist for a while longer yet.
The "narrative" is only out there because there was a vacuum coming from the club about why Schwartz wasn't featuring - either for the first team, the U23's (to get fit) or cup games (to get game time). The only people to blame are the club /comms team. As pp have said - questions were asked (not deep enough I would say) and they were deflected, ignored or dismissed. IP until today the standard text on a match preview, put out by the club, is that Ronnie would not be featuring in xxxx match due to not being up to speed or behind with his fitness.

All this would be yesterdays news if from day one the truth was said. It seems that we have finally, to paraphrase Pol Pot, entered "day one" and we can now put it to rest until we are told that he is "back out on the grass" and ready to feature soon
It's really hard not to be sceptical of his injury when it's taken so long to announce it. It doesn't take a month to diagnose a calf injury

Why wasn't it mentioned in Adkins' press conference a week ago or 2 weeks ago? - "Ronnie has a calf injury, at the moment we don't know how long he will be out for"

  • Any chance him not playing is about money? Was the transfer fee structured with games played in mind? NA may not rate him so not playing him saves money??
  • That’s Ronnies Charlton career over then 😕
Did his Charlton career ever start?
  • Lack of comms from the club has created a nasty atmosphere in the fanbase around Schwartz. What ever the original issue was, the total silence from the club has done no body any favours.
  • Anyone know how much he has played recently?
    https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=48203

26th July: Last game for Midgetland... Played 45-mins
22nd July: Last goal, came against Brondby, played 84-mins
17th July... Last game he played the full match

A guy Called Forever Addickted put this post up on page 1 of this thread in December 2020. I'm overdue an eye test at Specsavers but......

After Lee Bowyer left you don't seem to be in the loop anymore ?

  • Put a bit of timber on since he last played.

Cheers, can see what you mean - I find Soccerbase better to read for individual games rather than overall stats - The goals tally certainly doesnt ring true on that website.

Is there a verifiable source for this assertion?
It's an easy/lazy assumption we have all made, but is there any substance to it?

The club didn't create a nasty atmosphere in the fanbase.
Some fans chose to do that themselves.

Think it was said Sandgaard suggested Schwartz and Gallen gave it an "ok" to sign.

At the time it was reported that Ronnie Schwartz first came to Sparrows Lane a year ago for pre-season training/on trial for a week or 2, with a view to signing. Because of the transfer embargo, it didn't happen and he went back to Denmark.

Surely that was before Sandgaard's ownership?

  • well we'll soon find out what is happening when Adkins gets his marching orders on Saturday evening.

I hope Jackson hasn't been party to any bullshit
  • Really can’t see Adkins getting sacked anytime soon
  • No, i don't want NA sacked - its been a dissapointing start after a strange / deflating transfer window but i'll give it another few months and see where we are then - i get everybody's frustration and despair as expectations were high and rightly so but i'm sure NA and the squiad are capable of a lot better than they've shown so far this season - its dissapointing that we have taken to booing and jeering so early to be honest but i guess its just the reaction to the realisation that we may be in for another long and painful season off the back of so many - it could still come together but NA must pick the line up i put on the match thread or it won't !!! :D
