This season was buggered up when it started. All the pointing of fingers, the groans and outrage will not change that. I could not see a great title winning side, even after the late recruits, and nor could the vast majority of our fans. Golfi was predicting Bogle to be our top goal scorer and moaning that we will not get promotion without a 20 goal striker! Rumour of a senior pro saying Bowyer has lost the dressing room? Fantasy. Last night showed he hasn’t - and that is the reality we all saw. We still have a great chance of the playoffs and arguably our best players returning from injury in the next month.
We need stability, a window to sign some permanent players, and some luck with loans this summer. And of course, a decent pre-season. I really don’t think that chucking out our management team at this point in time is sensible in anyway.
I have seen nothing to show that this is fantasy. It comes from a poster who has a good record and states he heard it directly from the player.
Golfie was wrong about Omar, but right about promotion without a 20 goal striker... We don't have one and are 9th on PPG (Yes PPG is the fairest way of giving our real position given the messed up games played for each club.)
There is no reason why Aneke cannot be a 20 goal striker and there is no reason why Schwartz can’t push towards double figures in half a season

You can win promotion without a 20 goal striker, but you certainly can't win promotion if you concede 60 goals (as we're on track for).
Case in point Peterborough. They've often had 20 goal a season strikers, Assombalonga, Marriott, Toney. Didn't win promotion though because they always ship 55-60+ goals at the back.
Like the in the know thread if Bows stays on and we get promoted I’d move to name and shame they Bowyer out brigade
Fair enough and I would take the stick due, just like I said I would eat humble pie if Southall turned out to be a gooden after I pointed out he was lying in his first interview. Still waiting for some apologies. Maybe we should have a retrospective table for that?
Why is your ego so big, you're still waiting for apologies?
Not digging you out, just curious why it's so important for you a year later?

Aneke has been a revelation as a centre forward (well done Bowyer for playing him out of position? 😉), and I agree Schwartz could do well. If Aneke gets close to 20 and Schwartz gets 10 then we may well be close to promotion.

That's the way I'd look at it too.
We've got a whole half of the season left to get our act together, 25 games and 75 points to play for.
Just need Jacko to set up the team for Bow. And then, we'd be flying!
Good to see the fightback from the players yesterday, but if it hadn't been for Lee's ayahuascan starting formation (once again) we wouldn't have needed one. Matthews was one of our best players last season, playing at a higher level. Deciding Smyth is a better option in that position is batshit crazy, and it cost us.
So, also some improvement (i.e the manner of the post-match comments and the motivation of the players), but no getting away from the fact that Bowyer's approach is still costing us points; points that will ultimately see us fall short of promotion IMHO.
It looks like the die is cast. We are to stick with LB and accept missing out on (at least a chance of) promotion as a consequence, it seems.
Long term, that could be the right choice for the club. Or not. I still can't decide myself.
It could lay the foundation of a successful football dynasty built from the ground up in the right way and could prove the way forward for ever greater success - we have seen this happen at other clubs and it has led to quantum leaps up the leagues, so why not here? Alternatively, it could see us facing the near impossible task of attempting to rebuild the squad within a wage cap, whilst playing against teams relegated from the Championship who face no such restrictions and thus have an advantage over us every time. Ultimately, it could see us stuck in this poxy league for years on end.
We shall see.
Ultimately, it's all down to one man to decide. Glad it's not me. 'Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown' and all that.
Yes it was great to see a bit of fight in the 2nd half yesterday but how many times have we had to do that this season (And last season too)? We have to show that same fight from the get go and not wait for us to be behind each game. Hoping LB turns it around but fear the rot is to deep
All the Man U fans that wanted Olly sacked two months ago (the vast majority) have gone very quiet in the last few weeks. Turns out he might not be completely out of his depth and he might actually have a clue after all...
Did he play Rashford at right back? Did he say he didn’t care if Fernandes had sustained a serious injury?
Let’s be honest, Manchester United’s form has not reached the depths that we’ve managed to plumb over the past couple of months and I doubt Solskjaer’s win % is as low as Bowyer’s in the past 18 months (with a relegation thrown in).
Bowyer got a pass from pretty much all of our fans for some of the dreadful on the field performances and poor runs since Wembley because he was working under crazy circumstances. Eventually those passes run out.
Anyway, I think despite the thousands of words written on Bowyer’s future on this forum (50% of them by me!) it’s moot - I don’t think Sandgaard will sack Bowyer for on the field stuff this season pretty much regardless.
I don't think you can compare Bowyers / OGS's jobs and mistakes. I think the point being made was more to do with the turn around in opinion of the fans.
Bowyer admitted his mistake and tries to explain it in the SLP interview
It's interesting that he's holding his hand up now and acknowledging his mistakes. Do you think that is in someway, him being told to be diplomatic and offset the blame he puts on players, back onto himself?
But what choice did he have? 3 goals came down our right where he gambled on Smyth and it backfired terribly. He couldn't blame Smyth in his post match interviews, so who else?
That's true. I'm simply asking does anyone think he may have had a directorate from the top?
Bowyer took a chance which back fired. Marshall had at least one good game playing as a wing back when we had full back injuries.
Lee does need someone to have a word in his shell like because Thomas Sandgaard didn't get to where he is today by talking before putting his brain in gear.
As a young man Bowyer reacted on and off the pitch which he has to live with.

Bowyers recent outbursts definitely bring the club into disrepute both within the game and in general. We’ve had enough of a circus these last few years without the manager shouting his mouth off when he should keep it shut. If anyone senior within the club or indeed the owner have had a quiet word then I personally welcome that. We’re not too far off getting it right if LB starts doing the basics well again. He’s lost his way and we need for him to start dropping these weird team selections and public rants.

Highly likely, TS has a NASDAQ quoted company and is on record the value he places on his Zynex staff. He gives off the impression of being a people person able to motivate and a sort of friend to them who they wouldn't dream of letting down. The complete opposite to the narcistic traits of Duchatelet.
However don't underestimate him, he is the boss and a very successful one who likes to get things done and if there's a way to do a deal he has a steely determination to find a way to get it done, as we saw with the takeover.
He's very hands on with us at the moment which is why we don't have a CEO although has made some key Senior appointments like Ged Roddy and Wayne Mumford to bolster his SMT. He has regular chats with LB before and after games on team selection, tactics etc. So it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he has given LB some fatherly advice on his recent public criticism of players in pre match interviews and the need to own a problem of his making.
As I've hinted at it before; unlike some of us on here, either currently in or now retired from a management position, I doubt very much if he has been on any development courses to give him the tools to deal with underperforming staff. He's been in football for 30 years, apart from his fishing venture and the only experiences he can draw upon are those of the managers and coaches he's worked under. The majority of those will have been autocrats in a cut throat business with my a 'way or the highway' approach which won't get you far in this day and age.
There is no question that he will learn better people skills from his boss and yesterday may be the first signs that he has already taken on board some words of wisdom from our saviour TS. He certainly doesn't need to repeat his recent outbursts because there are those in the fan base now that can't wait to jump on his next misdemeanour.

Well, you got me there @bigstemarra ........ I had to google 'ayahuascan'.
Cheer yourselves up tonight. Charlton v Sunderland final 2019 on Sky sports tonight at 7. Re-live the day and dream of what we can achieve together. COYRs!

Coming back makes it look much better than the reality. A draw at home to Rochdale isn’t good enough.
But isn’t that part of the problem?
We don’t have a divine right to beat anyone, even though many of us think we do?
We are a league 1 team the same as Rochdale and the rest in the division.
Certainly that’s true but I doubt Rochdales owner is expecting playoffs as worst case or their supporters looking forward to a return to the Premier League. No team has the right to beat another but if Charlton have ambitions to get out of league one as even a first step then winning your home games against teams in 18th place with an awful defence is what’s needed and I’m sorry to say should be expected. There are always iffy results but that last night wasn’t an iffy one off. It was a continuation of not poor, but dreadful results and baffling team selection and formations.
That’s way to well put. Those of us questioning LB, would hope a change can get us out this year. As next year, I think we really will be Rochdale’s true equal. Signing a CB 3 games ago could have got us 9 points, LB didn’t do it, an we will go into the next 2 or 3 games in same position. Waiting for Inniss an Famewo is killing us. An no guarantee they will come back and play how all you LB LOYALISTS believe.

Yes, in some respects that might be true but what you, me and others seem to be forgetting we've only had that ambition for about four months.
We had previously been stagnating and going bust!
TS has already started the rebuilding on and off the pitch, and after such a long time of neglect, we can hardly expect everything to just fall into place, and be as Bowie said, 'Hunky Dory' can we?
Again, over expectations and self righteousness of fans.
Like the in the know thread if Bows stays on and we get promoted I’d move to name and shame they Bowyer out brigade
So if we don't and continue to defend like dogshit and he gets sacked, we should name and shame those who wanted to keep him in?
I don't think anyone who is suggesting Bowyer out particularly wants to be in that situation, or one of the ridiculous claims that we want to be doing badly to get rid of him. He's a hero for the last few years, but we're on a bad run, and he's reacted to that himself pretty poorly and all the whispers suggest he's losing the dressing room for it. Unfortunately with a change in ownership, management changes are always pretty inevitable at some point to get their own men in, and this seems to be going that way.
If the comeback tonight ignites a change in his philosophy to go a bit more attacking and on the front foot etc, everyone would be delighted. I'm not going to get too excited about a draw with Rochdale at home in isolation though, but we will see.
I dunno.. I've been labelled a Bowyer Apologist a good few times now so its maybe only fair that the label gets dished back
I was apparently a Nimer Apologist and now it turns out I'm a Bowyer Apologist, but I ain't changing for no one
Good point, has Nimer come up with the money yet? :-)
What side on Nimer fence you on today?
Nimer was part of the fraud, he never had the money, but it wasn't his plan. I'll say no more as it's in the past & don't want to derail the thread.
Regarding the thread title Bowyer has undoubtedly lost the plot, if what we mean by that is playing players out of position every game & setting the team up wrong most games.
The injuries probably aren't down to him although we seem to get far too many in training. Inniss is a big miss, I think he was injured in training.
Did Shinnie get injured in training? Pearce, was he injured in training?
Either way we get far too many injuries in training & that has to be questioned.
I accept that we got in the players that we could at the end of the summer, so that cannot be down to Bowyer.
However, Bowyer sets up the team/tactics wrong nearly every game, making bizarre decisions and playing players in wrong positions and he's still not learnt and is still doing it. It beggars belief.
Most games we fall behind because of this against all the poorest teams and he then decides to try and save the game by changing his ridiculous decisions.
As Golfie keeps telling us, we've come from behind to win once in something like 35 games.
If I were a conspiracy theorist type of guy I'd think he was trying to lose on purpose.
Whether he should stay or go I'm 50/50, but his original decision making is poor most games.
"Trying to lose on purpose".
Come on mate, you surely don't think that?
Of course I don't. I said if I was a conspiracy theorist type of guy (nutter).

If I were a conspiracy theorist type of guy I'd think he was trying to lose on purpose.
Oh come on, you’ve been supporting the club long enough to be above such nonsense surely?
Think all this Vitamin D everyone is taking is turning them delusional
Maybe that's the problem. Bowyer is overdosing on VitaminD. I said if I were a conspiracy theorist guy (nutter). I'm not, so I don't.
I'll put it on this thread as to not voliate the "safe space".
I think there are two main differences between the Bowyer true believers and the Bowyer sceptics.
Firstly how good the players are and secondly how long the poor form has been going on for.
Nah, the slaggers think they know better than Bowyer, his supporters know we don’t.
May I politely request that those who have an unrealistic positive view of Bowyer please refrain from repeating (yet again) those views. They appear on every thread at the moment, so please leave a little room on the site for those of a more realistic nature to hang out.
Comments
Case in point Peterborough. They've often had 20 goal a season strikers, Assombalonga, Marriott, Toney. Didn't win promotion though because they always ship 55-60+ goals at the back.
Not digging you out, just curious why it's so important for you a year later?
We've got a whole half of the season left to get our act together, 25 games and 75 points to play for.
Just need Jacko to set up the team for Bow. And then, we'd be flying!
As a manager in his 40's Lee has to wise up.
Yep, pretty descriptive!
Here are some truths for you however;
Pearce is suspended
Chuks likely unfit after playing 90
Schwartz unfit not playing any football for 4/6 months
is Bowyer to blame for any of that?
So you CANNOT have that line up. Come Saturday that will all be forgotten and bows will be under fire again
Re-live the day and dream of what we can achieve together. COYRs!
And that's exactly what we've seen and heard from Lee during these past couple of months.

See if we can get them some minutes before Tuesday.
You Cad, Sir!
I think there are two main differences between the Bowyer true believers and the Bowyer sceptics.
