Shocking result, as much as it hurts to say, but I am sorry but Bowyer has to be sacked, simply not good enough, had a massive opportunity to build a youthful team, and blew it with the old brigade who have not got the legs!
When did losing to Portsmouth become such a shocking result?
When we’ve been played off the park and looked like getting a result for about 1 out of the 90 minutes.

  • Not sure about lost it, but I'd say pick your best available 11 in their preferred positions, and go from there.
    It really is that simple.

It’s the manner of it. It’s also consistent now, shocking football, our only tactic seems to be lump it up top. Don’t get me started on the defence.

I don't disagree with that to be fair, not defending the performance.

Make the change now and I reckon we’ve still got an outside shot of the playoffs. Do nothing and mid table mediocrity beckons.
Despite changing my mind each week I’m inclined to agree with this after tonight.

The “new manager bounce”, cliche as it may be, could work for us, it just depends how quickly TS wants a return on his investment.  If it’s five years, he may want this season in the play offs, as a necessity.

Yeah, but once we get Famewo and Innis back just watch us rocket up that table.

Bowyer does the same thing every week, we have one half decent performance and he changes the formation and lineup and we play like absolute shit. Then we have the double HT sub and go back to last week tactics.

Bowyer won’t be sacked this season, certainly not now, would be crazy to make that decision the day after the transfer window closes.

Not saying I agree with it, but that’s how I see it.

Agree give him to the end of the season and review then.

Portsmouth have conceded 12 goals in five games and scored 4 or 5 in that same period. They just put three past us in 100 minutes and could have had more.

That's what makes it bad. They're NOT that good a team, or in good form. We make them look that way.

I'd agree it is not an ideal time, but a new manager will need more than the summer to know what they have to rebuild with.
  • Yes. Tonight was the final straw for me. Tinkering with the team and formation again after a good win last time out was crazy.

    Next question.

I’d release Bowyer back to his fishing lake now, I really don’t think Sandgaard will.

Agree that a new manager getting a couple of months to see what is needed before hitting the ground running in the summer would be a big benefit.

As I've said, he probably deserves one or two games with Jaiyesimi, but he'd better win them

Why wait for the inevitable? I really don’t get this attitude.

The excuses are drying up now.

I’m sure Bowyer said after the Rochdale debacle that that would never happen with a Pratley or a Watson on the pitch.

The players are so scared to not show they’re weak after the public shaming of Albie, Williams and Maddison that they’ve forgotten how to play football. The amount of stupid fouls we gave away tonight was horrendous.

I’m incredibly thankful for everything he’s done for the club over the past few years but we need to get out of this league and we’re not going to do it with him in charge.

must be a forum glitch as there doesn’t seem to be any posts on this thread last week?

  • Bowyer gets to the end of the season. We don’t get into the playoffs. Rebuild with him at the helm or get rid after the last game. Unless TS thinks we can pull this around I can see no benefit now in keeping Bowyer. If anyone can see us turning it around I’m amazed.

If we're going to change manager I'd rather do it sooner than later to give them time to properly evaluate the squad and plan for the summer rebuild.

I just think give him until the end of the season.

On the post-match thread I called what I thought were mistakes.

He even said tonight the squad is good enough so if they don’t make play offs that’s a lot of pressure on him.

I think the squads good enough but there are still some individual errors.

I’m disappointed he didn’t call out Watson for not clearing the ball, but people here don’t want him calling players out so..
  • Lee put himself under pressure with the team selection tonight - looked odd then didn’t work.

Dropping (... resting?!) Millar with DJ ready to come in on Sat looked wrong from the start.

    Desperate for Innis back.

See my post above with regard to waiting until the end of the season.

Players make mistakes when they’re not comfortable.

Curbs and Gritt were in the Championship and building. Gritt did end up going! Not sure what your point is there.

Well not really as we went backwards in those two years, that wouldnt be acceptable from fans now, it really wouldnt

Parkinson got sacked because we finished 4th and were then sitting 4th the following year

Bowyer is in League One and building

Unfortunately for Lee he's just come off the back of a Championship relegation where he was betrayed by owners and players

As for Gritt, he didnt leave for another two seasons
