If we sacked Bowyer and replaced him with Steve Evans I am not joking, I will take a hiatus from football. That would be a shocking appointment

Howe no chance, needs to stop being mentioned.

Powell again, no from me. He played crap football towards the end and was negative like Lee has been, I don't think he's the right man even though I would want him to be.

Cowleys, why? Got promoted from league 2 and then jumped ship to Huddersfield, did dreadful and got sacked. Their fans said the football was as bad as when they had Powell from what I saw.

Only one I've seen that wouldn't be bad is Cook but even then I'm not sure.

If Lee goes I would like Curbs again, I think he still has it.
You think curbs still has it based on what ?
His work record the last 10 years?
Doesn't matter how long he's been out. He has still followed the game and is clearly passionate about it, he wouldn't have forgotten how everything goes and I think from the way he speaks he wants to be back in the game.

When we sacked Peeters he said on sky sports if Charlton want him they can go and talk to him but said he reckons we had someone lined up which Roland did

New ownership, no longer a basket case. I think if he was approached he would say yes
I love the dream but worry about the reality.

Some Blades fans feel Wilder is underachieving.  Would gladly have him here...
Wilder, Howe. Any more suggestions for anyone it definitely won't be?
Ah come on, Wilder not as much of a stretch as Howe.

    Hmm.
No he's not, but he's definitely not to going to be our next manager. Would be massively shocked if Sheff Utd sack him without giving him a bit of time to go straight back up first.
Are you bowyer out? If so do you think Wilder should be given another season?
I feel I have just reached Bowyer out now. I don't see him turning it round unfortunately.

Wilder should be given a chance to turn it around, I wouldn't necessarily saying the season though.
I don't feel like there's too many differences in the situations though. If anything Wilder has spent a few quid up there and they've been embarrassing themselves weekly

Both Wilder and Howe have proved brilliant at taking unfancied players from L1 and the Championship and turning them into PL players

Both struggled more though in the transfer market once in the PL, a lot of their bigger buys have flopped

The Cowleys achieved 18th place with Huddersfield last season

Currently Huddersfield are in 18th place in the Championship!
Like Stoke Hiddersfield were in terrible trouble when the Cowleys arrived - they kept them up! They were sacked as the owner wanted a new playing style not because they did terribly.

I know something about this. They bought the Cowleys in just to keep them up, although they didn't tell them that.  It's ruthless but not ethically great.

The medium term was always a foreign "coach".

Bowyer was never going to Huddersfield even if he had an interview.

Hadley embarrassing themselves, they seem to find really imaginative ways of losing 1-0.  They are not a million miles away, nothing a goal scorer wouldn't solve.

You can't say the same about us.

No you’re right. Mid table League 1 and the bottom end of the Premier League are practically the same. I’d hate for us to embarrassingly win 2-1 at Old Trafford!
Sarcasm, great. I said I don't feel like there's too many differences in the situation not the league we are both in. Wilder done fantastic up there but (and rightly so) will be given a chance to redeem himself in the championship next year. Which if by Xmas they aren't around the top he will probably be gone.
Bowyer for two seasons, under heavy restraints done well and this year is our blip but in my opinion should get another crack with a full pre season and some backing

That’s fair enough, happy to disagree. I don’t have the confidence that Bowyer has it in him to recover from this. I have zero faith he can build a promotion winning squad but if others feel differently that’s cool.

Having said that, I’d love to know if any other team have said there manager has done well after being relegated.

Weird similarities between Brewster and Solanke.

Both came through the Chelsea academy
    Both then switched to Liverpool
Both have been really successful for England in youth football
Both were sold by Liverpool to lower PL sides where they struggled to score goals to justify their around £20m fees

    Me too.

If Sheff Utd were going to sack him, they would have done it last autumn while they still had most of the season left.

Now relegation is inevitable barring a miracle, I should imagine the Sheff Utd board will trust Wilder next season as the best manager to get them promoted.
After all, he's got them promoted twice before.

Against the odds, to the Premier league.

The end result is the same though. Whether we got relegated in the 92nd minute on the last game or in February and lost all 46 matches, it was an unsuccessful season because we went down. No I don’t blame Bowyer but I don’t get the he worked miracles stuff. It would have been a minor miracle to keep us up and he didn’t manage it. I just don’t agree he did a great job when the team got relegated, not saying he did a bad one because we were competitive in most of the games.

Like i said earlier, happy to disagree, it’s certainly splitting the fanbase at the minute. Personally I’d be extremely shocked if Bowyer can turn it around (not talking this season but in the future too). I’ll be delighted if I’m wrong and will hold my hands up.

He applied for the job and lost out to Robinson. It’s in one of the SLP pieces.

The Cowleys achieved 18th place with Huddersfield last season

Currently Huddersfield are in 18th place in the Championship!
Hadn’t they lost their first 7 games before the cowleys took over?

18th was a good finish seeing they gave everyone else in the league a head start.
With some prem league players? No it’s not a good finish

If Bowyer did get the chop, do we think that he would look for another football manager job ... or would he simply spend his time fishing?  Remember that he kind of stumbled into football management.

I think the second option is more likely ... much more likely ... and, if so, is that the man who should be charged with getting us out of League 1 and beyond?
He applied for the job and lost out to Robinson. It’s in one of the SLP pieces.

sorry to burst this particular bubble
Bowyer applied for the Managers job when Slade got sacked???

Shoot me if you like....Im up to page 76...but I do remember thinking and saying at the time that Curbs had probably taken us as far as he could go. What happened after was the thing of nightmares.

But what happened after Curbs left was down to the decisions of a clueless, egotistical twat.

It could have gone right with a decent managerial appointment, without the structure that Murray put in place at the time (then later dropped)
    Totally agree

. In 2016 he is believed to have applied for the vacant manager’s job at his first club Charlton, losing out to Karl Robinson. He was asked to join the club with a specific remit to work with the club’s midfielders, and in February 2017 he was formally appointed assistant first team coach under Robinson. In July 2017 he stepped up to assistant manager, and was appointed caretaker manager with player-coach Johnnie Jackson when Robinson left by mutual consent on 22 March 2018.

Maybe that’s hearsay, so not concrete at all. I’m just curious how it can be questioned if he’s the man getting us out of league 1, when he had already done

In both cases some of their buys have been awful and they have wasted a hell of a lot of money between them. Saying that at League One and Championship level they’d be excellent appointments.

So one minute you said it was in an SLP piece and now you are saying maybe it’s heresay. Well I say it’s bullshit.
