Has Bowyer lost it?

They ripped us apart at the Valley (I was lucky enough to be there) playing nice free flowing well organised football. We were never in with a shout. They seem to have done well all season until their recent dip. Not sure who there manager is, but if he could get us playing the way Donny did I’d be more than happy.A youngish, enthusiastic and progressive L1 manager who could cope in the Championship would be ok by me, it doesn’t have to be a well know name, or an ex Charlton player.1

Highest first touch on football manager 2021, the fact a manager got a team where he didn't even get the top 3 for POTY promoted from league 1 via the playoffs is not enough credit for bowyer to stay.0 -

It could have gone right with a decent managerial appointment, without the structure that Murray put in place at the time (then later dropped)4 -

For me, we’re not done with Bowyer yet and I still think he deserves to be given a run at next season. The football has been poor this season, no argument. However, I would say I’ve seen enough in his time here to warrant trusting him that he can turn it round.
I know he bought the current crop of players in, I know he’s chopping and changing line ups and formations, but I genuinely believe he’s got a very mediocre bunch to pick from, and we’re just not very good.
try to finish as well as possible this season, but don’t renew most of the squad’s contracts and rip it up completely in the summer, similar to Powell in 2011
However, he's got to be questioned on buying "mediocre" players.0 -

Back then we had a decent GK in Phillips
A very decent championship quality defence Dijksteel, Bauer, Sarr, Purrington (Ok League 1 that last one)
A very decent Midfield (Aribo, Cullen, Bielik - With Williams, Pratley, Morgan & Reeves involved)
A very decent strike partnership too (Taylor and Grant, sure Grant was replaced with Parker, let's not forget Vetokele also started getting some form back that season too).
We probably should have done better in our last league one campaign really, but I certainly didn't complain then.

If u take our best XI from that season only 1 is still in league 10

FFS - How many times have I got to explain to you midfield guys ?
A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides while a rhombus must have two pairs of parallel sides
How hard is it for you keep to the shape I ask for during a game!!!1 -

I believe the big sign will be who he keeps going into next season. You don’t get promoted with the likes of Pratley and JFC. Pratley was kept largely out the team by Bielik and Cullen 2 years ago, and became more relevant given how light we are on numbers last season. He’s a good professional but he’s not the sort of player we need to see playing every week if we’re gonna get out the division. Same for JFC. I know he was injured during our promotion season, but he’s not getting in ahead of Aribo. The clear out is key in the summer

I really do not want to see a bog-standard league one manager who we will have to replace in a few years anyway. Find a manager who plays a real system and build to that system.
If there’s someone out there who fits this mould then I can get behind them replacing Bowyer now. But id much rather we give bowyer the Summer window if the alternative is appointing some other league one manager .
I don't really see why anyone expects anything different from Paul Cook or the Cowleys. Cook has one promotion from League 1, the Cowleys have 0 and did a poor job at managing Huddersfield.7 -
Purely theoretically/hypothetically but I wonder if the lack of a stand out option as a replacement is currently why TS is keeping his powder dry re: the manager's security.
He's not said much either way, we do have him saying he's pleased with the attacking options but not much more. Perhaps he's willing to search and wait for someone he thinks will be a genuine long term improvement, and is looking further ahead than this season.
Like I said, this is guesswork on my part but potentially does seem to fit with his model of running the club - rebuilding it into his own, with his chosen staff all fitting his own vision. Much more speculatively, perhaps if true Bowyer knows/suspects as much and this is contributory to his more resigned air in recent weeks - he knows he's on borrowed time?1 -

Flipping this point of view imagine if we did get promoted this year? We'd need a squad over haul again in a much tougher league. This squad would be absolutely torn apart in the championship

Currently Huddersfield are in 18th place in the Championship!1 -
Are we on course to get promoted? No, so get someone else in and see if they can make it happen as a free hit. That seems quite obvious, but you have to take emotion out of it, which is where it gets complicated. If we were playing like this under Karel Fraeye every Charlton fan would be calling for his sacking, but it’s harder to get to that point with a popular manager. To be completely honest, if this was Powell I’d probably be saying he should be given more time.2
-
This season has the feeling of Powell's first (half) season with us.
Of course, Bowyer has been around for much longer than that already so you'd expect a bit different but unless he has little say in transfer dealings, can we 'afford' to give him until October or whatever to see what happens?
I'm not sure.4 -

There is simply no evidence that LB has the skills to 'turn it around' if given time; it is wishful thinking in the extreme.
It is telling that I asked the question a couple of weeks ago for people to tell me what he is actually good at, given that he appears to be deficient in tactics, training and man-management. I am still waiting.
Great managers make a team more than the sum of its parts and make average players better players; do you think that when you look at our current team?
We can't pin the future of our football club and the foundations of a (hopefully) exciting project to restore it to greatness on a manager with no actual evidence that he is capable of delivering.
So where is the evidence that LB has the necessary skills to not only turn this around, but propel our club up the leagues where he will face much stiffer challenges?
It simply doesn't exist; it is only due to loyalty that we are stuck with a leader incapable of leading.6
