Good to see Blakey's arm seems fine. If he can hold that trophy in his bad hand, it looks good.0

Where's Zak? England duty already?0 -

Well here's a bit of a surprise signing - Ben Compton, grandson of Denis and cousin of Nick. We probably don't actually need another batsman unless Denly is retiring or DBD is going to be told to concentrate on white ball. The one thing he does offer is being a left hander as we don't have any in the Championship side

Maybe they want DBD to drop down the order rather than open if Crawley is away with England?Addick Addict said:Well here's a bit of a surprise signing - Ben Compton, grandson of Denis and cousin of Nick. With a first class average of 14 (source - wiki), maybe he has signed to provide batting cover at no 100

From a very limited sample of 8 innings. He's no youngster either at 27 but has been doing the rounds, as a lot do, of various 2nd XIs including Notts, Hants and ourselves. Means we have these nine to choose from for six batting spots in the CC and can add Blake to that list for white ballTodds_right_hook said:With a first class average of 14 (source - wiki), maybe he has signed to provide batting cover at no 10
Crawley
Denly

I assume Compton isn't on high wages, and is just here as a backupAddick Addict said:

Remove Crawley for England duty, and Billings for England or T20 leagues, and it looks less bloated3 -
Finch is very unlucky not to get a contract2

Not a real surprise. Richard Halsall, head of the academy development at Sussex has resigned0 -
Paul Downton says that Kent will make announcement in the next 2-3 weeks of at least one overseas player. Presumably this is predominantly for the CC in which case I would have thought that it would be a fast bowler - pointless taking on a spinner and we have batsmen coming out of our ears. NZ have a tour of England/Ireland in June/July but as the CC is predominantly being played at either end of the calendar he would fit the bill.
I said a spinner would be pointless in the CC but perhaps not a world class one who could play white ball too. So, on that basis, could it be Qais Ahmad who isn't wanted by Afghanistan currently?0 -
Is there zero chance of getting Matt Henry back?0
 -

Good shout. He's been a bit out of sight/out of mind as he doesn't play international white ball or franchise cricket. Presumably because of that and Covid, from what I can see he played just one match between April and October this year and that was the Third Test against England in June. He played his first game since then, for Canterbury in NZ, this week.Callumcafc said:Is there zero chance of getting Matt Henry back?1 -
If NZ are playing 3 Tests here in June, I imagine the NZ authorities will be very pleased to see him over here beforehand, getting used to the local conditions again4

Desperately sad news. Alan Igglesden has passed away. He fought the fight with so much courage.

Gutted. Iggy was a proper legend to us Sutton valence lads. No one had a bad word to say about him, a real gentle giant. RIP. Gutted for his partner, who was my English teacher.0

I mentioned previously that Seb's club coach in Australia is Carl Hooper and Hoops gave Seb a lift back from training today. Sadly Hoops' wife has been in hospital as she has Stage 3 cancer and we can only wish her well in her battle with this horrible disease. Hoops also mentioned Iggy and what a great bloke he was and talked very fondly about his time at Kent.
Class bloke and a class player. I've told Seb to make sure he gets a selfie with Hoops for his old man!11 -

Good for him! He's a really nice guy who fell out of love with cricket (mostly due to his injuries), so it's great his passion for something else remains.killerandflash said:https://www.kentcricket.co.uk/news/thomas-continues-to-climb-coffee-career-ladder/
