  • Can't see it. Having sacked a manager while they are 7th, can you really see them appointing a man whose team is below them in the table. Wilder might be his replacement, thus continuing the manager's merry go round

Would take Bowyer going to Pompey on a pay off, our season is crap and it at least means he goes with dignity, he could do with fresh scenery.

As for the Wilder links I wouldn't lol at them, on record speaking highly of our club and doesn't strike me as the type to not go down a couple of divisions to have a go at a project, let's not forget his recent history. Only stumbling block would be location as he is a Yorkshire man through and through. Definitely not as wild as the Howe shouts imo

    Edit: pun not intended!

Don't think location was a stumbling block when we nearly got him before. The fact Duchatelet was bat shit crazy was what had him running for the hills.
Wilders stock has ridden considerably since then of course. Would be some coup for TS to get a manager of Wilders quality.

That was then though, he was the manager of Northampton who without being rude are a small club compared to us and Sheffield United. There was a lot of rumour at the time the Charlton tour was to bait United into sacking Adkins and getting the ball rolling sooner, we will never know for sure though.

Ultimately a lot has changed since then, mainly being he has probably made enough money to be set for life in the city he loves, does he fancy another challenge? Hopefully

Either way I reckon it's not the worst shout, incredibly level headed man Wilder is and he will know what he can do with a club like us with stable ownership, would do his reputation a world of good promoting another club up the football pyramid
  • He won't resign and give up that payoff, so he may as well be favourite with the bookies, he ain't going anywhere if Thomas don't show him the door.
  • Danny Cowley or Harris are the ones I can see ending up at Portsmouth
  • Only reason why Bowyer would go to Pompey is because its nearer to France. He could take their squad on a swimming exercise & see to his fish once they make dry land.

Otherwise I feel he'll be with us until at least June.
Or maybe he knows he might be on the way out and leave while he has an offer like Robinson did...

Just what I was thinking. There seems similarities to me, although not convinced they want him

That is the main flaw in this potential development I fear.

  • We are Charlton.  We never get lucky. Afraid Thomas will have to pay Bowyer to get him out the door. Would take Jackett all day long. Improved clubs everywhere he has been. Plus a thoroughly decent individual.

Wooooo there , those 3 play off final miracles , Lennie , Curbs and Thomas Sandgaard have to be paid for with bad luck .... of course 99% of that is paid for with our results against the scum ... but there’s a bit more bad luck for us to own
  • Sometimes you only get three good years out of a manager. Actually look at the stats across the whole of football and the answer is more most times!
  • If Bowyer goes to Portsmouth & we get a compensation package for him, it would be an incredible bit of business.

I can't see it though unfortunately

Birmingham about to sack Karanka. I think Lee would go there if offered

Oh hang on, he has just been sacked
  • Portsmouth showing the sort of ambition we should show. I reckon we follow the barnsley model and get a German in if lee goes, don't think he will mind

The sack the manager and get an uplift in performance is working well for The Blades today.
Not sure if we can tell the difference with our without Wilder

There was no mean to regress to

    Very different situation to us.

Sheff Utd players are, I suspect, 100% behind Wilder. The heart of the team has stayed together over the last 3 years and prior to this year, it's been nothing but success under him. The players are probably totally fed up that a popular, well liked manager has seemingly been pushed out by the owner.

No surprise whatsoever that they produced a woeful performance today.
  • Yeah I don’t get why Wilder has been booted out, last season with a bunch of championship players he created a system that did very well for them. This season I’ve not really seen what’s gone wrong.
  • I could see Birmingham going for Bowyer
  • I could see Birmingham going for Bowyer
I don't think they could actually afford him

It'll be good to see how Sandgaard reacts at this stage if someone wants Bowyer.

Instead of a potential payout, someone would be paying us to take him off Sandgaard's hands

If Thomas says no to any approach then it sends a very loud message to the fans
  • Forget Portsmouth Daniel Stendel 4/5, Bowyer is 12/1 on Skybet
  • Would anyone genuinely want Lee Bowyer over Daniel Stendel?  genuine question.

Yep, he’s madder than I first thought
