A friend of mine worked in the Southampton ticket office when they sacked Adkins. Said they had loads of people calling up and asking if it was true and being gutted to find out it was.
I'm not exactly blown away but the more I think about it the more I think it fits with TS comments and what he wants
Hasn't won Premier title. Cafc fans love to moan Went to university Born across the Mersey from Liverpool Reads poetry Ex Goal keeper
Reasons for Adkins: Three times promoted from League 1 Physiotherapist Intelligent Good man manager Calm under pressure 15 years younger than Roy Hodgson. Very good tactical manager
100% support from me who ever Thomas Sandgaard picks; unless it's Steve Evans or Tony Pulis. Karel Freye would be problematical.
Well it looks like it’ll be Adkins according to the bookies! I personally think he will do well with us in league one, don’t think he will repeat the double promotion though but I’ll settle for championship stability, which he’d bring!
Here's the note Adkins left his Southampton players after he was sacked
I think after Bowyer we may be entitled to a bit more wholesomeness about the place. I know you don't necessarily win anything being a nice guy, but players ARE humans...
Don't like the way he writes his 'E's, and the nose on the smiley face is poor.
Actually, do open up the comments beneath that BBC article and give them a read. They should allay some doubters' fears.
Was going to say the comments and the article itself seem very positive about Adkins. Having been 'underwhelmed' at first the more I read and hear about him, the more he seems like a pretty decent manager - and at the very least no worse then some of the other names that have been thrown out there.
I am really struggling to see, unless it is Wilder or Howe, how you think any of the other names we have been linked with will be any better then him. Adkins is known for wanting to play attacking passing football, he has a proven record of developing youth players, he has 3 promotions out of this league, and all though a little weird, seems a positive and nice guy to have around.
I'm not necessarily saying he is my first choice, but the way some of you are describing him, you would think he was some boring, hoof ball, get your team to scrap and survive type merchant.
Over the course of the day, I've done some research on Adkins & changed my opinion somewhat.
Former players, fans & club staff all seem to speak very highly of him. He appears to be a very positive person, who makes players believe in themselves & has won promotion out of this league by playing attacking football, so would fit perfectly with what Sandgaard says he is looking for.
Not sure he'd be my choice, but it MIGHT just be a very shrewd appointment.
Yeah okay, I've come round to it since this morning. He seems like a nice guy who plays good football and has done well elsewhere. Fans of the clubs he's been at are very positive about him aside from at Sheff Utd and even there they 8th with 3 games to play so they didn't do that badly.

Charlton fans have been underwhelmed since 1921.
You have ‘reads poetry’ in the wrong section.
I performed poetry and spoken word In Covent Garden at the poetry Cafe (pre covid) so you are correct.
In our world of the absurd Seth where Cafc fans are waiting for goals, most of the "against" are positives for me.
If he can use his middle name Howard instead of Nxxxl that would be advantageous.
Honestly don't understand why the Wilder mentions are getting LOL'ed.
He's gone from Northampton to Sheffield United (who he took over in league one), not Manchester United to Real Madrid.
He may fancy his chances higher up the pyramid but the Charlton job is far from unrealistic.
For the exact same reason that Curbs never managed a team again in the Championship or anything, he thought he had earned the right to a better calibre of club.
Seems like he was never really backed at Hull. He talks about having a first team squad (before pre-season starts) of 20 seniors + 10 from the U23's which provides a pathway for the academy.

Read what supporters say about him. Agree whole heartedly with you Leuth.
Welcome, Mr Adkins.
What have the Cowleys ever done for us?

Surely if we get £350k out of the brummies
then you lump it on a manager as a bonus for promotion
I see us and Pompey as quite similar size clubs so annoying the Cowleys have chose us over them
