Cameron Norrie lost to Janik Sinner at an insanely hot Hurlingham club yesterday.0

Another great win for Samuel who has just beaten Cerundolo1

Making the most of getting through to the last 16 as a lucky loser - having a really good tournament.PrincessFiona said:Another great win for Samuel who has just beaten Cerundolo0 -

Feels like someone at the LTA didn't take kindly to his constructive criticism from a few years back.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Dan Evans loses to Schoolkate in straight sets at Wimbledon qualifiers. Sad end to his career - surely deserved a wildcard?
I'm no fan of the LTA (going back to the time when my son was playing) but they've previously given him a singles wildcard at Wimbledon in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2025 (last year when aged 35). He's also been handed one in this year's doubles.
Evans is 36 now, has never got beyond the fourth round of any Grand Slam. So, perhaps, they've given one to a younger Brit instead in the hope that they will learn from the experience? In the same way that they did four times when Evans was between the ages of 19 and 24.1 -
Just seems a shame given he is retiring - at least he gets a start in the doubles.Addick Addict said:SantaClaus said:

I do get that but perhaps he should have retired last year post Wimbledon. For someone who has never got beyond the third round at Wimbledon (last time he did that was five years ago) he was lucky to get one last year and if I were a young Brit I'm not sure that I would be happy seeing him get one this time round. And as you say Evans will be able to say farewell to his fans in the doubles too. Hope he goes all the way and that his disappointment gives him every reason to prove the LTA wrong.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

Harris and Tarvet both come through qualifying for Wimbledon. Tarvet can keep his prize money this year as he's left college.
Choinski loses in the QF at Eastbourne. A decent week given that he's a clay court specialist.4 -
Draper up next. Just started coverage on iplayer0

Max Basing also through to the main draw at Wimbledon.3

Draper well on top, won 7 games in a row to lead 6-1 2-0.1

The Wimbledon draws are out. Jack Draper has drawn 6th seed Taylor Fritz1
-
Oh dear, I was thinking how that has happened, but he's quite low down the rankings at the moment, isn't he, due to his injuriesPrincessFiona said:The Wimbledon draws are out. Jack Draper has drawn 6th seed Taylor Fritz0 -
Any non-seed could have drawn anyone unfortunately. I don't think it would have mattered if he'd got back further up the rankings, unless he was seeded.CAFCBill said:

Having seen Draper play this week, he appears to be injury free and his way back.
Whether he is ready for Fritz is another matter, unfortunately. Ordinarily it would be a close match and I'd favour Jack - hopefully he has a chance1 -
BBC reporting Raducanu missed training yesterday due to an injury worry.1
-
Both womens' SFs at Eastbourne finished early with retirements. Obviously is been very hot for us this week, but the players are more used to it - but even for them, it has been a bit extreme. Foreecast doesnt; look as hot for Wimbledon
The number of injury timeouts, blood pressure checks and retirements has increased in the last few years. And that's not just Raducanu, who seems to get the most trolling0 -
Wimbledon qualifiers were best of 5 in the final round - exhausting to play in the heat. Playing in the early afternoon must be a nightmare.
Tennis players are very fit but undoubtedly a lot are injury prone.0 -
would be amazing if he could pull it off, he has looked good at Eastbourne.PrincessFiona said:The Wimbledon draws are out. Jack Draper has drawn 6th seed Taylor Fritz0 -
Best of five might prove a bit of a test for Jack's fitness. Eastbourne has been encouraging but he has played very little this year.DoctorCharlton said:

It’s early days for Draper but good to see him back. Unfortunate with his Wimbledon draw but you never know. If he stays fit, he’ll only get better.1

Given his lack of tennis reaching the semifinals at Eastbourne was a decent performance.
Taylor Fritz is a tough opponent but Jack has defeated him before so hopefully can rise to the occasion again.0 -
The good thing about drawing a top seed like Fritz but not a monster like Sinner is that I give Jack a much better chance against the former, and should he make it through that first round, he can almost assume the sixth seed for himself, meaning the draw should be much more favourable up to the quarter final stage (where a 6th seed is expected to lose).1

Just checked the draw.Callumcafc said:The good thing about drawing a top seed like Fritz but not a monster like Sinner is that I give Jack a much better chance against the former, and should he make it through that first round, he can almost assume the sixth seed for himself, meaning the draw should be much more favourable up to the quarter final stage (where a 6th seed is expected to lose).
Beating Fritz is a big ask but Fritz will be cursing his luck at drawing Draper in round 1.If the draw otherwise goes to seeding, an unseeded opponent awaits in round 2 and 29th seed Etcheverry (clay specialist) in round 3 with Tiafoe or Bublik in round 4.0 -
Agreed but just frustrating there were only 5 players out of 127 higher ranked he could have drawn!Callumcafc said:The good thing about drawing a top seed like Fritz but not a monster like Sinner is that I give Jack a much better chance against the former, and should he make it through that first round, he can almost assume the sixth seed for himself, meaning the draw should be much more favourable up to the quarter final stage (where a 6th seed is expected to lose).1 -
21 Brits line up in the first round of the singles - nine women and twelve men. A decent payday for some of the wildcards.
Hard to see any Brits making the second week but happy to be proved wrong...1 -
Not sure I see any getting to the second week in the singleshoof_it_up_to_benty said:21 Brits line up in the first round of the singles - nine women and twelve men. A decent payday for some of the wildcards.

It's a big if I know, but if Draper somehow can beat Fritz I can see him reaching the second week easy.PrincessFiona said:

When I was watching his semi yesterday, (bizarrely?) I wasn't sure I wanted him to win - I am hoping he has a chance against Fritz but 1 more match at Eastbourne might not be a good thing.blackpool72 said:
